R&D Funding Passage to Trusts
The passage of funding has recently changed. With effect from 2008 – All eligible Research studies are now registered with the NIHR CRN (National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network). Their Central Office based in Leeds receives Government Research Funding which is disseminated to the regional hubs (CLRN’s) and allocated to Health organisations on a per study basis
What is our main remit for Aintree Trust’s Researchers?
1. To report research levels to DOH and NIHR 2. To J ustify Trust Research Funding Levels 3. Advertising the research taking place at Aintree
4. Providing a Research Governance Service to local researchers 5. Providing Trust Indemnity and permission to conduct studies
What Practical Support do we provide for Researchers?
1) Advice on completing the Registration Forms and where to send them
2) Providing a Database of research information
3) Latest funding information 4) Advice on structuring studies,
statistical appointments; research governance approvals/indemnities
5) Updates on current research courses taking place and staff places available
6) Providing a peer review process
7) Providing internal courses for Nurses and AHP’s and Research events promoting Aintree reseearchers
8) Auditing projects for intellectual property rights/MHRA checks
9) Providing Data Protection approval on research projects
10) Providing Honorary Contracts and Research Passports

You have your piece of research formulated and ready to go
Who do you need to apply to?
1. The Research Ethics Committee will need to have their IRAS R&D/Ethics application with a copy of your research protocol and CV’s for participants
2. The R&D Support Unit will also need to see copies of your Ethics submission, protocol, any study finance agreements, your data protection form and a completed/signed Site Specific Information Form
