to include the WHOLE person, his diet and lifestyle patterns

and even his state of mind.

Allopathy Ayurveda

Essentially a medical KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM.

It’s more than just a medical knowledge system; the literal meaning of the word 'Ayurveda' is 'THE SCIENCE OF LIFE'. This is its essence – it is a science with philosophy

Essential to study PURE SCIENCES like physics, chemistry and biology before one studies Allopathy.

Essential to study vyAkaraNa (GRAMMAR) and tarka (LOGIC) to understand the Ayurveda concepts.

Based on a REDUCTIONIST approach where the individual and the affected organ/body part is viewed in isolation, forgetting that it is a part of the whole.

Based on the HOLISTIC principle that man- the microcosm, is an integral part of the universe-the macrocosm; and that the same elements in the universe are reflected in the individual. So it does not believe in a common pill for every ill.

It is completely focussed on PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH.

It is fivefold in ensuring PHYSICAL health, MENTAL health, SPIRITUAL health, SOCIAL health as well as ENVIRONMENTAL health

DIAGNOSIS is primarily by the use of sophisticated laboratory equipment and investigations, which considerably reduce the element of risk.

DIAGNOSIS is primarily by using the five SENSE ORGANS and hence emphasis is placed on honing of the senses so that they are highly sensitive to even a very minute stimuli.

On many occasions, it does not reach the root cause and primarily gives SYMPTOMATIC RELIEF.

Treatment is primarily aimed at removing the ROOT CAUSE of the problem.

Mostly QUICK-ACTING.SLOW-ACTING on most occasions, due to its working with the cause rather than the symptoms.

Being primarily chemical, there are SIDE EFFECTS attached to most of the drugs.

Generally the medicines, being mostly herb and animal product based (and sometimes mineral based), are FREE FROM SIDE EFFECTS. Because Ayurveda is a holistic system of healing, it does not believe in a common pill for every ill.

EMERGENCY and SURGICAL CARE in Allopathy are highly developed today and well-equipped to deal with such conditions.
