INSURANCE OF PURCHASES AND RISK Each animal becomes the property of and therefore is also the risk of the purchaser as soon as it is sold; except it shall be the obligation of the seller to see that animals are fed and cared for free of charge to purchaser, until loaded after the sale, whichever occurs sooner. Arrangements will be made to have insurance available when making settlement. TERMS and BIDDING Terms of sale are cash or check to the clerk at the conclusion of the auction. Each animal will be sold to the high-est bidder. The Auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final. HEALTH Each bull sold will be tested for brucellosis and TB no sooner than 24 days prior to sale date, and proper certificates will be furnished to purchaser guaranteeing the animals sold to be free from such diseases. All bulls are fertility examined and guaranteed breeders. Fertility guarantee and scrotal measure-ments will be furnished to buyer. REGISTRATION AND TRANSFERS All animals have record papers and these will be trans-ferred. Record information not in this catalog at press time will be supplied from the auction stand. ANNOUNCEMENTS & SALE DAY SUPPLEMENT Printed Material On the Sale Day Supplement takes precedence over printed matter in this catalog. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter on the sale day supplement or in this catalog. All animals will be sold by lot number as announced by the auctioneer. Every effort has been made to assure correctness of the catalog, and in most cases, information quoted concerning the animals is taken from the respective breed association’s official records. PERSONAL LIABILITY All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk and the owners assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accident which may occur. IDENTIFICATION Seller offers each animal with a readable tattoo cor-responding to its catalog designation and registration when applicable. BREEDING GUARANTEE AND DEFINITIONS 1. All bulls are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of: A) Injury or disease occurring to the animal after time of sale; B) Gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser; C) Animals shown competitively after being purchased from the Dickinson Simmental and Angus Ranch. 2. Bulls are guaranteed breeders if not allowed to run with the herd until at least 14 months of age. Any bull which either A) settles 1/3 or more of the healthy cows he serves; B) is the sire of 20 or more animals; or C) settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by Dickinson Ranch consulting veterinarian during any 6 months trial (provided for in Paragraph 2 of the section of these sale terms and conditions entitled “Options and Privileges of Return or Adjustment”) shall be considered a breeder. Any guarantees with respect to the ability to freeze semen shall be made by separate agreement between the Purchaser and Seller. 3. Females are guaranteed to be breeders, with the exception of: a) Female calves sold at side of dam

b) Injury or disease occurring to the animal after time of sale. c) Gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. d) Females used in ovum transplant after time of sale. e) Females shown competitively after time of sale. f) Cows sold with calf at side or a female that calves after sale to a breeding prior to the date of sale. SELLER’S SEMEN RIGHT 1. Seller reserves the right to keep a breeding interest with/without possession, in any bull so designated in this catalog or during the auction. Future semen collections of the bull must be made known to all owners. These collections and costs will be divided according to each owner’s interest, unless otherwise agreed upon mutually by all owners. 2. On any and all other bulls in the sale which are collected in the future, Seller reserves the right to 100 vials of semen with registration rights and will pay his portion of the collection costs.OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT 1. The following adjustments do not preclude the right of the Purchaser and Seller to mutually agree upon other terms and conditions for settlement of any dispute. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing either within six months from the date of sale or no later than when the ani-mal reaches 24 months of age, whichever occurs later, with the exception of claims involving parentage of defects. 2. All returns or refunds will be paid in the form of a credit. a) This credit will be limited to the purchase price less the salvage value of the animal and usage fees. 1) Salvage value=Market price x greater of sale day weight as listed in this catalog or current weight. 2) Usage fee is set at 25% of purchase value of the animal for each season of use. 3. In the event an animal is claimed to be a non breeder, the animal may be returned to the ranch of the Seller, at Purchaser’s expense, if in good physical condition, and the return is in compliance with the health requirements of the Seller’s state. The Seller shall be entitled to a six (6) month trial period following the return of the animal in which to prove that the animal is a breeder. If at the end of six (6) months the seller is unable to prove the animal is a breeder, the seller shall, at the option of the Purchaser, replace the animal with another of equal value or grant the Purchaser a credit on any products marketed by Seller. Either of these options shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement. IF the Seller proved the animal to be a breeder, it shall be the obligation of the Purchaser to take delivery of the animal and pay all expense incurred for transpor-tation. The Dickinson Ranch consulting Veterinarian will make the determination of breeder or non breeder. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding on both. Animals resold following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the parties connected thereto are not covered by the above terms and conditions of this sale. General Sales InformationTerms and Conditions of Sale

Dear Friends, Welcome to our 42st Production sale. As we come into 2014 with the smallest cow number in history the outlook for calf prices is good for several years. However, we must remember what caused the cow herd to dwindle...High feed costs and high fuel prices and drought. Therefore, we need to select genetics that can function on our available resources as much as possible. With this in mind we are really excited about this sale offering. After an extremely hot and dry summer and the grass being short it proved to be sufficient for our cattle. The cows kept their fleshy style. The bulls and heifers were weaned the last week of October. We fed the calves a protein creep pellet for 45 days prior to weaning where they consumed an average of 3 pounds per head per day. This gave the grass and the cows a little relief in the late summer and fall. After weaning, I added up pounds per acre on a pasture unit that for ten years we have ran the cows on year round with only 1296 pounds of Loomix during the dormant months. This unit has maintained 22 cows continously. There is a division fence and we rotate between the two units. This is allowing 17.5 acres per cow per year. We calve in March and April with 90 percent of the calves coming in late March. Most of the cows were five to eight years old. However there were two fourteen year old cows in the group. The total pounds for 22 calves was 16,410 pounds. This equals 42.68 pounds per acre for an aver-age of 745 pounds per cow. In this system you have very little fuel and labor costs, and no processed hay costs. This is the goal that we hoped to acheive when we went to year-round grazing. The cattle that we produce and sell are what will function on our ranch without feeding expen-sive hay or supplements. The EPD’s on the cattle are what work in this low cost system. We don’t select cattle on maximum EPD’s and then change the environment for them to survive. Over 90 percent of the bulls in this offering are calving ease bulls, yet they still sire calves that grow and wean off heavy. We continue to line breed and rotate sire lines as we struggle to find outside genetics that fit our production system. This makes our cattle more consistent and uniform. Rather than searching for the perfect bull with the perfect numbers and the perfect picture, we choose to let the environment show us what cattle will work and perform. We are always searching for new genetics and rest assurred, if they don’t work for us they won’t work for our customers. We always start a new bull on the heifers and if his genetics don’t work there then we don’t continue using him. For us, calving ease is were it has to start. In regards to milk we want EPD’s that are average or below, too much milk means more supplementation or thin open cows. The bulls are on a ration of Kochia hay , wet distillers and five pounds of corn. The bulls are gaining well, average gain of three pounds a day, and are in great shape, yet they are not over condi-tioned and will be able to get out and service cows without falling apart. The bulls are designed to be functional. They have optimum growth numbers and carcass traits. We are not selecting for single traits, maximum growth or milk, but cattle that will help you lower your costs and function on your resources. We are offering more heifers this year for those of you wanting to increase your herd. They are straight off the top and have been fed growing ration. We continue to track carcass traits. Probably more importantly, we continue to sell butcher beef to the consumer, the end customer of what we are producing. We have customers from eight to ten hours away that will drive to pick up their beef from us. Many first time buyers can’t believe how tender and flavorful the meat is. Once they start buying from us they always come back for more. We hope to see you onsale day! We have used Dickinson bulls over the years for part of our herdsire battery. Since 2011, all our sires are now exclusive-ly Dickinson-bred and we couldn’t be more pleased. Kirk’s no-excuses production system has resulted in uniform calves that come easy and continue to grow. The heifers sired by Dickinson bulls have been our best set to breed up and calve out and his selection pressure on low-input performance has paid dividends on our cattle maintaining their flesh on dry grass and crop residue. An added bonus is the docility that Dickinson genetics possess. With our labor force consist-ing of my wife, daughters, and my elderly father, we can’t be dealing with problem cattle.
