The Dickinson County Library Fall/Winter
Hours (Labor Day—Memorial Day, listed
below) begin Tuesday, September 5.
Library Card Sign-Up Month
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, a
time when the American Library Association and
libraries across the country celebrate the humble
library card, and remind parents that a library card is
the most important school supply of all!
To celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month, all
adult patrons who sign-up for a library card during
the month of September will be entered to win a gift
card! Current patrons can also be entered to win by
adding an email address to their contact information,
or confirming the email address we have on file!
Banned Books Week
September 24-30, 2017 Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free
and open access to information while drawing
attention to the harm of censorship. The library will
feature displays of challenged books and information
about this important awareness campaign.

A Novel Bunch Book Club Wednesday, September 13, 2 PM @ Solomonson Branch in Norway
A Novel Bunch Book Club will read Prayers for
Sale by Sandra Dallas. Reading guides are available
at the Solomonson Branch and on our website,
www.dcl-lib.org. New members are always welcome!
Family Games Night Wednesday, September 6, 6-8:30 PM

Kids, teens, and families are invited to drop in any
time during the program to play our variety of board
and card games, or bring your own games! Invite a
game buddy, or challenge other attendees to a
friendly competition!
Bookcycle: Artsy Apples Thursday, September 21, 6:30 PM @ Main Branch in Iron Mountain
Upcycle used books with Bookcycle: Artsy Apples!
This series of craft recycling programs will challenge
you to salvage old books by using them to create
beautiful literary decorations. Books & craft materials
will be available. Please call the Dickinson County
Library at 774-1218 to register for this program.
Block Party: Celebrate Your Library!
Saturday, September 16, 10 AM-12 PM @ Main Branch in Iron Mountain
Celebrate your library with a Block Party! Mischief & Magic, LLC will perform magic tricks, create balloon
animals, and provide face painting for all ages! The Celtic Music Group, comprised of local musicians, will
provide music to enhance the fun. Visit our information stations to learn about the best ways to use your li-
brary card, and meet the Friends of the Library to learn about how you can volunteer to support the library all
year long! Weather permitting, we’ll celebrate outside, but if it rains, come inside and experience the same
fun! Prize drawings for a total of three Kindle Fires will be held at 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, and 11:30 AM. You
must be present to win, so join us for food, fun, entertainment, and a chance to win at your library!

Paul Trione Memorial Fund
The Paul Trione Memorial Fund, established in 1971,
emphasizes current non-fiction titles to be purchased
for the Solomonson Branch in Norway. The following
titles will be on display at the Solomonson Branch
Library, September 11-18. Anyone wishing to reserve
a book may do so at the Solomonson Branch, by calling
the library at 563-8617, or by visiting our website at

Established in December 2002, the Sharon (Goodchild)
Kuester Memorial Library Fund is an ongoing tribute to
a frequent library patron and devoted grandmother.
Yearly, the library displays a selection of children’s
books purchased with monies provided by the fund.
The following selections will be on display at the Main
Branch in Iron Mountain, September 11-18. Anyone
