Everyone knows it is important to step back and look at the ‘big picture’
every now and then, particularly when looking at an organization and
how its people operate and communicate internally. The Big Picture is an
exceptionally good event for demonstrating different styles of people
working together and clearly exhibits the importance of effective
communication in a short space of time.
How It Works
Teams draw and paint cleverly crafted sections of a bespoke picture,
representing your corporate message, on authentic artists’ canvasses.
Communication and co-ordination is critical as not all the information is
immediately available. When all teams have finished, the canvasses are
joined together to create The Big Picture, highlighting the successes and
challenges of working together.
An added bonus is that you have created your own bespoke masterpiece
that can hang in your office for years to come!

Arabian Market is a game of influencing skills – fast, memorable and pragmatic, guaranteeing
that every participant will talk to one another at some stage. The Arabian Market event
maximises on networking interactions and clearly understanding the value of information.
How It Works
Split into ‘families’ and armed with a pouch of Arabian themed trading goods the teams are
challenged with the objective of maximising their families’ wealth. They will need to
understand what other families need using questioning and negotiation skills. Working on a
win/win solution will be essential to success.
Reinforcing that information is power only when shared. Outcomes are very objective and final
scores reflect the teams interaction and approach.

BeatsWork was designed to show the power of relationships between individuals
when collectively harnessed and aligned towards a common goal, by creating a
samba band! BeatsWork is infectious – people just can’t help getting involved.
You’ll find even the most reserved characters soon beaming from ear to ear and
stomping their feet.
How It Works
Firstly the analogies between the individual instruments and rhythms are
introduced, explaining that we can only make music if everyone learns to
appreciate their role in relation to others. After which delegates choose an
instrument and all players must contribute as a team and work together playing in
time and on cue.

Crime Solvers International (CSI) turns teams into detectives who have to solve a complex
crime. This is much more than just a fun ‘murder mystery’, to succeed the teams will need to
work well together to problem solve a variety of issues that are introduced against an ever-
increasing background of pressure and time deadlines.
How It Works
A realistic crime scenario is set to the detecting teams and they are bombarded with a massive
amount of information, delivered in a variety of formats. Taped 999 calls, crime scene videos,
filmed suspect interviews, photographs, autopsy reports, transcripts, forensic evidence and more
all serve to confuse and mislead the detectives. Their task is to sift through all of this and
ultimately focus on the task of solving the crime.
Communication and listening to each other is key to success as team members are taken away
from their tables at certain points to receive vital information which they must relay back to
their team. Realistic pressures are introduced along the way to add to the atmosphere of a real
crime investigation.

Imagine the atmosphere as your team enters a giant adults’ toyshop full of Meccano! The
objective is to build a series of large contraptions which, when placed in the right sequence,
perform an amazing chain reaction of events where each device triggers the next in an ingenious
way. If teams get everything right the final piece is triggered, the one tonne weight drops and the
rat gets it (well not literally).
How It Works
Rat Trap is a team building event where groups work collaboratively to achieve a common goal.
Each team is responsible for one piece of the machine that eventually operates the trap.
The trick with Rat Trap is for teams to be conscious of the bigger picture, as each structure has to
be built in the right way and be placed in the right position for everything to work.
The end result, which started life as a room full of ‘bits’, never fails to inspire groups and show
them what they are capable of when they apply a little teamwork and lateral thinking. The ‘wow’
moment is seeing the trap successfully catch the (toy) rat!

A practical exercise in verbal communication, which demonstrates effectively the enormous and
fascinating variety of strategies which individuals use to make sense of their worlds. It explores
how perceptions are presented, how meaning comes to be shared between individuals and
groups and how organisational strategies are developed to account for the wide range of
individual thinking and learning styles.
Magic Carpet literally puts people into a problem that can only be solved with logical planning
and team co-operation. Very often teams cannot see the solution when they are immersed in a
problem and stepping outside and working through step by step is essential – both in Magic
Carpet and in business. This challenge also tests listening skills, co-operation and adaptability
Don’t Spill It is a challenge where teams are given a simple sounding task of moving a wine
glass full of water across the room. However, they cannot touch it with their hands and they will
be provided with limited materials with which to do it. Given a limited amount of time, success
is only achieved if the group communicates well under pressure and has a clear methodology
from the start. This exercise also tests the team’s ability to work with or without a leader,
depending on the consensus within the group.
A precision object manipulation device is used as a challenging action learning tool. It requires
cross-functional team performance and is highly interactive. An invaluable practice vehicle for
improving leadership and team performance. The Precision Pyramid is an excellent assessment
tool. It requires minimal physical activity and can be used indoor as well as outdoor.

Leonardo’s
Bridge
FULL TILT!
Teams are tasked with building a self supported bridge out of a collection of planks of wood.
No nails or fixing devices can be used and all team members must be able to cross the bridge
safely. The bridge must cross the imaginary gorge. A truly mind blowing challenge!
A team exercise that tests your dexterity as well as mental agility. Strong teamwork and co-
operation is essential. Teams have a plastic tube standing on the floor, at the bottom of which is
a key attached to a cork. You cannot come within 2 metres of the tube, but you do have a bucket,
some water, some string and the task is to get the water into the tube to raise the cork and
therefore the key to the top. The key unlocks the box containing a prize!
Measuring up is a challenge where teams are given a 8-liter bowl which is full of fresh water.
They need to share this water fairly into exactly two portions (4 + 4 liters) but they only have
two empty bowls, a 5-liter and a 3-liter bowl to achieve this. They have a limited amount of
time to solve the challenge and soon realize that they all need to communicate, plan and work
together to solve the challenge.
