MESSAGE FROM CHAIR I have been honoured to chair the organising committee of DIAMER BASHA AND MOHMAND DAM FUND Appeal Liverpool 2018. We in Liverpool first became aware of the imminent water shortage a humanitarian crisis facing Pakistan when Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar and Prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan appealed to the overseas Pakistani community to contribute to this very noble cause. As a British Pakistani with strong roots to my homeland, I felt compelled to help. I shared my feeling to the members of community in Liverpool and was very amazed to receive an outpouring of support. A number of Liverpool community members from all sections voluntarily came forward to be part of the organising committee. Myself and the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund Appeal Organising Committee Liverpool set the ambitious target of £50000 to achieve as soon as possible. We also agreed that every penny raised will go to building the DAM. The Pakistan Association Liverpool very generously sponsored and collaborated towards this honourable cause. We were very humbled by the outpouring of support that we received form the donators. On behalf of the organising committee, I would like to thank you all, the donators, sponsors, volunteers, the members of Liverpool community for their generosity. Message from Author Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar and Pakistan Imran Khan on behalf of the Government of Pakistan appealed overseas Pakistani communities to contribute towards this very honourable cause of building Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams. This would save water and generate low-cost electricity in Pakistan. I feel privileged and honoured to be part of the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund Appeal Organising Committee Liverpool in raising £50000 in Liverpool towards a very noble cause “SAVE WATER! SAVE PAKISTAN!” Mr Munir Ahmed and all the members of the organising committee put in a lot of effort to make it possible. The acknowledgement also goes to the Trustees of Pakistan Association Liverpool and the President of Pakistan Association Liverpool Mr Sarfraz Ali for collaborating, sponsoring and supporting the above project. DAIMER BASHA DAM Diamer-Basha Dam is a concrete-filled gravity dam, in the preliminary stages of constructions, on the River Indus in Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan. Diamer Basha Dam Hydropower will provide the required electricity at affordable price. Contribution of 4500MV power from this project will go a long way in alleviating the situation of electrical and controlling the water shortage. Today, Pakistan is producing a highly expensive and inefficient electricity, hurting its industry, exports, agriculture and investments. MOHAMAND DAM PROJECT Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project has a gross water storage capacity of 1.3 million acre feet (MAF) that could irrigate about 17 Thousand acres of land. PROJECT BENEFITS

The generation of cheap electricity will help to reduce the existing tariff. Reduction in import of oil and saving in foreign exchange ultimately increase of foreign reserves.

Reduction in Load Shedding of electricity by adding 2,160 MW in stage one, generating 12.22 Billion units per annum

Increase in living standards of local people due to development of new town with all modern civic facilities

Opportunity of new jobs for local people during construction and operation of the project

Construction industry of Pakistan will also be flourished due to increase in demand of construction materials. Overall growth in economy due to induction of cheap electricity. This will help reduction in production cost of goods used locally and especially export goods to make them more competitive with other countries

GRAND CHARITY GALA DINNER The Grand Charity Gala Dinner took place at Pakistan Association Liverpool Multicultural Centre Liverpool on Sunday 28th October 2019. The presence of distinguished guests and participation from members of Liverpool Community made it a great success. Programme was started by TALAWAT-E-QURAN. A welcome address was delivered by Vice President of Pakistan Association Liverpool. Further to speeches from distinguished speakers, Sheikh Kareem led the collection ceremony. At the end some of the money was also raised during a raffle draw. PREENTATION OF CHEQUE TO CHIEF JUSTICE OF SUPREME COURT OF PAKISTAN Further to collection in Liverpool, the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund Appeal Organising Committee Liverpool met and decided to present a cheque of £50000 to the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, during the grand event organised by the Dam Appeal 2018 Manchester and North West on Friday 23rd November 2018 at Sheridan Suite, Oldam Road, Manchester.
