Project Description: Our institution would like to research current applicable policies and mandates such as those from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), National Security Agency (NSA), Common Criteria Certification (CCC), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications (800 Series). This research would be used to develop hardened Virtual Machines (VMs) in a test bed environment that could be deployed on government systems. These hardened images would be able to be used on systems for use as they would meet rigorous requirements that undergo penetration tests. The penetration tests would provide data on the Information Assurance (IA) posture on tactical and non tactical systems. Not only would these test provide defensive data but it would give insight to offensive security measures as well.
