Sallee said the workshops can be taught in as little as 30 minutes, or be more involved and last up to two hours, depending on the ages of the youth attending. The workshops are designed to be hands-on and full of activities for youth of all ages. Innovators are encouraged to reach out to local 4-H camps, daycare centers, library programs and other youth related programs for opportunities to teach this spring and summer. These workshops are not only learning opportunities for the participants, but the youth innovators are learning something, too. Theyre working on a variety of skills theyve learned in 4-H, including public speaking, time management, working with adults partners, adaptability and planning,Sallee said. Innovators are asked to do a short report after each workshop. Through this process theyll get a better idea of what went well and what areas they may need to tweak in order to make the program more beneficial. Overall, we want to help our 4-H youth to teach others about agriculture, computer science and STEM activities, as well as develop positive youth/adult partnerships. For more information about the upcoming summit, visit the Innovate website at http://4h.okstate.edu/ innovate, contact Sallee at 405-744-8885 or email at [email protected].
