Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I like the fact that the image is clearly a bear which was my aim. I also like how the perspective and shadows are shown by the legs that are further away are a darker colour to show that they are being shadowed by the body of the bear

What would you improve if you did it again?I would try and find a different palette of colours and make them more chalky and lighter as I think this would make the picture look better.

Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I like the semi realistic style with the skin tones showing through the block colour of the face.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would add some more detail to the lines on the face and change the colours to make it look more realistic.

Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I like how the words have the image version inside them which adds a lot of depth and character to the words.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would enlarge it and change it so that it has different styles. I would also look at changing the colours of the outside of the letters.

Evaluation

What did you like about your image?I like how warping the edges so they move in slightly make the image look like its jumping out at you, especially the bottom one.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would make a variable of the bottom image and clip it over an image of an explosion so that it makes it look like the image is exploding out of the screen.

What did you like about your image?I like how the outlining of the darker and lighter patches adds detail to a somewhat one colour scale image.

What would you improve if you did it again?I would apply a different style to the image to see it from a different perspective.

Story OverviewA young wolf is going through some woods to meet with his family. He’s been warned that they are dangerous and that there are a group of hunters in them. He comes across a group of them and they chase him through the woods. The humans follow the wolf and capture it. The young wolf howls to his family and they hear it and come to his rescue. The wolves outnumber the humans and chase them off and rescue the young wolf and set him free and leave the woods together.

Export FormatJPEG

Advantages: High compression rates and common format - easy distribution.

Disadvantages: Lossy - loss of image quality when resizing and sharp edges come out blurry.

Audience

I am aiming my story at slightly older children, aged 9-12. Mainly males as a wolf has hunting and killing aspects which would not appeal to a young female. It will not be aimed at a specific class as books are rarely expensive. However, it will be mostly bought by working class to middle class families. The location would be mainly west Europe and America as people in a more western or southern area of the world may not have heard of wolves.

Production Methods

I will take the backdrops from images I find on the internet and rotoscope them to keep the cartoon style, then photo shop the wolf I drew into the front with the rest of the scene. I have added a filter to the wolf I drew to keep the cartoon effect and I am adding colour to it as I drew it and shaded it in pencil. The story will have a cartoon style to it.

What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?

• A interesting story that will work well with a slightly older audience

• Audience includes good detail and features many aspects other than just their age

• Could begin to elaborate more on the story by writing in more detail what else happens and how it happens

What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been further developed?

• Well drawn picture that will help when it comes time to create the book

• Lacking idea generation and mood boards, Damn Photoshop!!!

Page 26: Development Pro Forma

What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?

Very detailed production methods and audience.

Very specific on your audience for location and class.

Not clear on whether you have made it an older target audience because just young females wouldn’t like it, or that you aren’t including females in your target audience at all, not mentioned afterwards.

What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been further developed?

Really good wolf drawing, a nice design when it comes to developing your front cover and wolf character.

No mood boards to look at and no text ideas using different fonts.

Page 27: Development Pro Forma

What are the strengths of the proposal? What areas of the proposal need further work?

• Interesting storyline• Your reason for giving it an older audience age

range is a good idea

You could have a bit more advantages and disadvantages for why you would use a jpeg but apart from that its very good

What are the strengths of the idea generation? What areas of idea generation could have been further developed?

Good detailed image of a wolf drawing

Feedback SummarySum up your feedback.Story works well with audience, audience has good detail, well drawn wolf and interesting story line. Story needs to be explain in more detail, need to import moodboard and mindmap, need more detail on why the story is aimed at older males and more advantages and disadvantages for using JPEG format.

Which parts of your feedback do you agree with and why?I agree with the reasoning for aiming it at an older audience as there are some connotations of violence and hunting. I agree with the wolf being well drawn and suitable.

Which parts of your feedback do you disagree with and why?

I disagree that it was my fault that I didn’t have a moodboard or a mindmap as I couldn’t import them as photoshop wasn’t working.

Original Script

The Young Wolf was on his way back to his family. He had stopped to have a nap and now he was late. Near where he was meeting his family, there were some woods. His family had told him that inside the woods there were hunters that would catch him and eat him so he knew they were dangerous.

“There’s a shortcut through here and I’ll be late if I go around.” He thought about it for a while but all the time he spent not moving, he was getting later and later!

“I’m much faster than any human” he said, “I’ll be fine!” So the Young Wolf ignored what his parents had said and set off into the dangerous woods.

“If I don’t stop running, there’s no way I’ll be caught!” he laughed. But then, he spotted a rabbit sleeping on a rock. The Wolf stopped running and crept over to the sleeping rabbit.

“Pull the rope now!” shouted the Chief Hunter. The Wolf saw someone pull a rope and the ground below the Wolf came upwards and took the young Wolf with it! He was trapped!

The Wolf struggled to try and escape but it didn’t work, he was very, very stuck!“Well done friends” shouted the Chief Hunter. “We will eat well tonight!”

The Wolf started to panic so he howled as for a long as he could and as loud as he could.“Awooooooo!” howled the Wolf. The family was getting worried about the young Wolf and when they heard him howling they all got up.

“That’s our son, he might be in trouble!” shouted Mother Wolf. “We have to go and make sure he’s ok.”

So they ran into the woods as fast as they could towards the sound of the howl. The humans were laughing at the Young Wolf as he tried to escape from the trap. He was very upset that he’d been caught and now they were laughing at him

as well!

“My family are coming, they’re going to save me!” he shouted.“Nothing can save you now, we’re going to make you into a pie!” laughed the Chief Hunter.

Just as the Chief Hunter finished saying that, the Young Wolf’s family burst into the clearing and growled at the hunters.“Grrrrrrrr!” growled the Mother Wolf. “Chase the humans away, I’ll get him down” she said to the rest of the wolves.

The wolves ran towards the hunters and chased them away from the Mother Wolf and the Young Wolf so she could get him down. She bit the rope in the trap and the Young Wolf fell down onto the ground with a thump.

“We told you it was very dangerous in these woods and that you shouldn’t come through here!” said the Mother Wolf.“I know but I would be late otherwise!” said the Young Wolf. “I was going to run through but there was a rabbit!”

“Well you’re safe now, that’s what is important.” She said. The rest of the wolves had come back from chasing the hunters away and they joined the Mother Wolf and the Young Wolf and they all went home together.
