On the internet, it is used in creation of web banners and animated clips for illustrating promotional messages. Power centers are used in animation to create emphasis points on a character thus depicting their moods. Line of action is a technique used to direct the movement of the animation to ensure emphasis is placed on the right places. It guides producers to maintain their focus on the planned movement to achieve their objectives.

Educational Application of 2D Animation
One of the most common uses of 2D animation is in the adobe flash player program, where thousands of video clips and educational material have been produced using 2D animation. In education, and especially distance and online learning, it has been used in simulation of scientific concepts, preparation of lecture notes where the tutor makes the clips and sends/uploads them to students using adobe flash player. It has also been used in making of tutorials and educational games for students.
Internet Applications of 2D Animation
On the web it is used to create interactive, efficient and lively adverts that help communicate effectively. It is very useful in creation of web banner advertising as well as normal web adverts including pop up and pop under ads. 2D animation in flash player is therefore an effective authoring tool for products promotion and advertising.
Application of 2D Application in Film and Television
The applications of 2D animations in television are rapidly increasing with the need to communicate more effectively as well as add humor to advertising. It has been applied in many advertising Medias such as in visually depicting the action of detergents on microorganisms, promotion of energy drinks and many products whose usefulness can visually illustrated.
Use of power centers and lines of action in 2D animation
The power center is that part in an animation character that acts as the origin of their strength. This center influences their actions, postures and even gestures. This point works closely like the center of gravity for the balance of the character and defining their body attributes. In 2D animation, a depressed person would be depicted as having a low power center. A happy person can be designed with the power center at the chest (raised chest) making them stand tall and confident.
Line of action
This is a line drawn through the animation planner figure showing the general flow of movement and sequence. Using the line, the developer is able to focus on the critical of movements of the production. The concept is very important during the development of critical frames to direct the viewer to the center of action. The line is first established to get the main flow after which the other details are added. Using the line of action technique allows easier development of moves and the animation becomes clearer.
Current Advances in 2D Animation
With the computer development, animators have moved from the hand drawn animation to computer based animation. Currently, experienced animators combine 2D animation with computer-generated imagery (CGI) to develop great animation characters and unique movements.
