(Early records were cylindrical, but flat disks soon replaced them) – allowing people to reply music and become more fluent with the favourite songs. Also music became more accessible for society as a whole, as lower classes could not afford to pay to see new artists and the phonograph was a cheaper form of hearing new music. Cinematograph- Invented in the 1890s – people could match visuals with sound which is very entertaining. Appealing to two senses at once. Radio- Invented in 1900, first broadcast was in 1906 – music is now presented – due to this the audience can listen to the presenter’s opinion on music and therefore think about how they feel and their own opinion on the song. Influencing the audience and making them feel more involved with the music. Television – Invented in 1926 – enhancing visuals with sound and giving the audience more choice with what they can watch/listen to. The first recognizable social media site was known as six degrees and created in 1997. In 1999, the first blogging sites became popular. Facebook was invented in 2004.

Mp3 –

Portable music has been available since the 80s with Sony driving the market. Invented in 1977, Microsoft incorporated mp3 support into its windows media player. In 1998 the first portable mp3 players began appearing.

Since then each sector has sky-rocketed in development; allowing music videos and digipacks more accessible to consumers than ever. I can now watch the latest video on my phone on the train or look at a new album cover on my laptop abroad. The development has also allowed marketing to

evolve making it easier – spreading the information of artists and their work faster and more cheaply. Therefore, allowing the artist to become more popular and sell more records.
