DELIVER THE TURF WITHIN 24 HOURS OF CUTTING, AND LAY IT WITHIN 36 HOURS OF CUTTING. PREVENT IT FROM DRYING OUT BETWEEN CUTTING AND LAYING.
FERTILISING PRIMARY
BEFORE TURFING, APPLY FERTILISER OF 14:15:10 N.P.K. OR APPROVED SIMILAR COMPOSITION AT THE RATE OF 100G PER M2 AND RAKE INTO THE PREPARED SOIL.
SECONDARY
IN THE LAST WEEK OF THE ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD AND AFTER MOWING, APPLY AMMONIUM SULPHATE FERTILISER (20:0:0) NPK AT THE RATE OF 12G PER M2 OR OTHERAPPROVED FERTILISER AT AN EQUIVALENT RATE OF NITROGEN. PREPARE AS A SOLUTION NOT STRONGER THAN 25G OF FERTILISER PER LITRE OF WATER AND APPLYEVENLY TO THE TURFED AREA. LIGHTLY WATER AFTER APPLICATION.
LAYING
GENERAL: LAY THE TURF IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER: IN STRETCHER PATTERN WITH THE JOINTS STAGGERED AND CLOSE BUTTED. PARALLEL WITH THE LONG SIDES OF LEVEL AREAS, AND WITH CONTOURS ON SLOPES. TO FINISH FLUSH, AFTER TAMPING, WITH ADJACENT FINISHED SURFACES OF GROUND, PAVING EDGING, OR GRASS SEEDED AREAS. STRIP TURF LAYING: CLOSE BUTT THE END JOINTS AND SPACE THE STRIPS 300 MM APART. APPLY A LAYER OF TOP DRESSING BETWEEN THE STRIPS OF TURF. FINISH WITH
AN EVEN SURFACE.
WATERING
WATER IMMEDIATELY AFTER LAYING UNTIL THE TOPSOIL IS MOISTENED TO ITS FULL DEPTH. CONTINUE WATERING TO MAINTAIN MOISTURE TO THIS DEPTH. KEEP THEGRASS IN A HEALTHY WEED FREE CONDITION.
MOWING
MOW TO MAINTAIN THE GRASS HEIGHT WITHIN THE REQUIRED RANGE. DO NOT REMOVE MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF THE GRASS HEIGHT AT ANY ONE TIME. CARRY OUT THELAST MOWING WITHIN 7 DAYS BEFORE THE END OF THE PLANTING ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD. REMOVE GRASS CLIPPINGS FROM THE SITE AFTER EACH MOWING.
TOP DRESSING
WHEN THE TURF IS ESTABLISHED, MOW CLOSELY, REMOVE CUTTINGS AND LIGHTLY TOP DRESS TO A DEPTH OF 10MM WITH AN APPROVED TOP DRESS SOIL. WORK THEDRESSING WELL INTO THE JOINTS AND CORRECT ANY UNEVENNESS IN THE TURF SURFACE.
IRRIGATION
APPLICATION SHALL BE MADE TO MACKAY WATER FOR CONNECTION OF IRRIGATION SYSTEMS THE WATER MAIN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ARRANGE WITH MACKAY WATER FOR THE TIMING OF THE WORK. ALL WORKS SHALL BE CARRIED OUT BY THE RELEVANT LOCAL AUTHORITY AT THE APPLICANTS COST. CONNECTIONS TO WATER MAINS SHALL INCLUDE THE PROVISON OF SUITABLE WATER METERS AND BACK FLOW PREVENTION EQUIPMENT. WATER METERS UTILISED WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE FITTED WITH A REED SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH A 10 OR 100L PER PULSE OUTPUT IN ORDER TO MATCH INPUT REQUIREMENTS FOR COUNCIL'S CENTRAL IRRIGATION CONTROL SYSTEM, TORO "IRRINET" SYSTEM. WATER METERS SHALL CONFORM TO THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS: THE INSTALLATION AND DESIGN OF ALL WATERING SYSTEMS INCLUDING THE INSTALLATION
OF WATER METERS, BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES AND ISOLATION VALVES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS3500.1 "NATIONAL PLUMBING AND DRAINAGE CODE", WATER SUPPLY. THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH COUNCIL
SPECIFICATIONS AND SHALL BE INSTALLED TO A STANDARD COMPATIBLE WITH COUNCIL'S CENTRAL IRRIGATION CONTROL SYSTEM, THE TORO "IRRINET" SYSTEM. NO ALTERNATIVE TYPE IS TO BE INSTALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL OF COUNCIL. REFERENCE SHOULD BE MADE TO CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATION C273 'LANDSCAPING' FOR DETAILS OF THESE REQUIREMENTS.
