Informal training: A student joins the Case Competition Club (CCC) with the idea of learning the key case competition skills. These are life skills for the world of business, economics, and management, including business case analysis, solution generation, English public speaking, team work, etc.

Case competition skills include developing leadership for the

next generation of students.

Formal training: CCOP• CC Optional subjects that provide important knowledge and

analysis methods required for case competition:• Dirección Financiera II (Corp. Fin.) finance• Methods of Valuing Firms finance• Dirección Comerical I business thinking• Business Communication public speaking (Engl.)• Business Ethics good practice

• A student needs to have completed 3/5 subjects before being able to compete (exception for 2015-16)

• A team needs two members who have done each one of the 5 subjects

Formal training: BCA• Business Case Analysis• 60 hour full subject offered in 2nd semester to:• Únicos: 2º and above• Dobles: 3º and above• (ELG cannot take BCA as an option, but as an extra subject)

• Contents:• Analysis of business cases• Solution development• Public Case presentation in English• Team work• Judging other students’ case presentations• Develop team expertise to teach other students a case

Formal training: ICCT• International Case Competition Training• 15 hour intense training offered in 1st and 2nd semesters• Extra classes; no academic credits offered (at this stage)• Intense and personalized training• Students need apply as a team• Limited number of teams

• Content• Analysis of business cases• Solution development• Public Case presentation in English• Team work• Judging other students’ case presentations• Develop team expertise to teach other students a case

CCOP/BCA/ICCT: developing CC culture

• After taking CCOP/ BCA or ICCT, students should:• Have a practical understanding of business case analysis• Know how to generate solutions to business problems• Know how to analyze and solve problems working as a team• Know how to speak convincingly in public and in English

• Specific outcomes:• Each student/ team member should be able to identify his/her

strength as an individual and within the team• Each team becomes an “expert” in teaching one of the cases

• develop a set of powerpoints and multiple solutions to the problem• know how to fairly assess and judge the performance of other teams

Criteria to compete in ICC?To be selected for an International Case Competition (ICC):

1. Student must be in their penultimate year or superior (except double degree)• Grados Únicos: 3º or 4º• Grado ELG: 4º or 5º• Grado Dobles: 4º, 5º or 6º

2. Student must be an active member of the Case Competition Club (CCC) for at least one full academic year and have demonstrated willingness to get involved in the club as a• Helper, Organizer• Promoter, etc.

3. Student must have received formal case competition training either by• Taking the subject Business Case Analysis (BCA), or• Receiving International Case Competition Training (ICCT)

4. Student must have completed 3/5 “Case Comp. Optativas”(A team needs 2 experts in all subjects; not all members need be experts in every subject)• Dirección Financiera II (Corporate Finance)• Methods of Valuing Firms• Dirección Comerical I • Business Communication; Business Ethics

EXCEPTION: For 2015-16, there will be more flexibility (if in doubt, see Ian Kwan)• Criteria 2: Membership may be less than 1 year, but was an active member of CCC• Criteria 3: Only 3/4 team members have received formal training• Criteria 4: Only 2/5 Case Comp Optativas have been done by all members

After competing at ICC, what?

Conditions AFTER competing at ICC sponsored by School:• Student must become a Case Competition Club Trainer (CCCT),

which includes teaching younger CCC members the methods of case competition, sharing your experience, etc

• Student must continue to help run the CCC either in • Internal Case Competition – día de Patrón• UNICC, etc.

Which 3 teams for ICC?

EITHER:• Choose from teams in Pamplona through ICCT

• Teams invited for ICCT 1 or 2 teams selected• Team members must be active members of CCC• Evaluation

• 50% by Ian Kwan from continuous assessment during ICCT• 50% by selection panel to judge winner of a case presentation

• Selection by end of November

AND/OR:• Choose from Teams not in Pamplona but with excellent track record

• Have shown excellent performance in:• 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in internal case competition (UNUCC)• Experience from top competitions: UNICC, KPMG, Oliver Wyman

• Have received formal training:• 3 of 4 members must have received formal training from Ian Kwan or Jose Luis de Cea

• Team members must have been active members of CCC• Will receive ICCT in Pamplona in January 2016 before competing in February

AND/OR:• Choose from Teams already trained

• (Several teams have been trained and could be called on to represent UNAV)
