INTRODUCTION• Housekeeping is defined as the provision of a
clean,comfortable and safe environment.Housekeeping means upkeep of the hotel rooms in the best possible way so that it gives a nice impression to the guest and they are eager to return back.
• Layout Of housekeeping is the physical demarcation of the areas in the department.
• Depends on the size of the hotel.
Florist Room:Air Conditioned
Flowers are kept fresh
A work Table, Counter, Sink
Cupboard, Wire Cable and other accessories
Housekeeping Supply Store:Cleaning supplies, guest supplies.
Clean, Dry And Secure
Lost & Found room:Set aside the desk control room.
Away from high traffic areas.
Good locking mechanism.
Housekeeping control room:Communication Hub of the housekeeping department.
Staff reporting and signing out.
Notice boards for informing staff
Secretary room:Small cabin.
Control movement into the
housekeeper’s cabin.
Storage area for documents.
Executive housekeeper’s cabin:Administrative centre of the department.
Privacy maintained at times.
Sufficient shelves with locks.
Sewing Room:Used for repairing linen & uniforms.
Large enough to accommodate sewing machines.
Ironing table, and repair work
Linen Store:Stock of new linen & uniform.
Ample stock for the whole hotel.
Cool, ventilated and free from dampness.
Linen And Uniform room with EEC:Linen in circulation is stored for issue when received from laundry.
Large, Secure And free from humidity.
Has counters so that exchanges can take place.
Laundry:Place for washing all the hotel & guest linen.
Washing machine, Flat-work ironer, Dry cleaning.
