Use as a sub-base in areas of roadway box-widening for widths less than or equal to 4 feet in width on the Route 2A (Line B) Record Baseline (Slip Ramp), Line B Proposed Slip Ramp Baseline, Route 2A Proposed Construction Centerline (Line C, Route 2A Connector), and on a section of the Route 2A Record Baseline (see Construction plans); At the removal area of existing Island No. 1 (section between the existing and proposed reconstructed Island No.1);

ITEM 451. HMA FOR PATCHING

As a Contingency for Use for permanent repairs to the pavement structure, where directed by the Engineer.

ITEM 472. HOT MIX ASPHALT FOR MISCELLANEOUS WORK Use for all temporary longitudinal ramps following milling at a slope of 1V:50H. Also, as a Contingency for miscellaneous temporary HMA repairs, as directed by the Engineer.

ITEM 583. EDGING REMOVED AND RESET ITEM 597. EDGING REMOVED AND DISCARDED

Remove and reset edging as follows: • Remove from existing Island No. 1, Sta. 14+94.6, 36.5’ RT. To Sta. 14+88,

62.6’ RT (from Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline) – reuse at proposed Island No. 1 Sta. 14+94.2, 41.5’ RT to 14+87.9, 64.6’ RT) (from Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline).

• Remove from existing Island No. 2 (Sta. 102+25 CL to Sta. 102+81.4 CL) on the Route 2A Proposed Construction Centerline (Line C, Route 2A Connector) (Island No. 2 to be removed). The granite edging is to be removed and reset to the locations on the project where granite edging is proposed such as at the following location:

• Reuse at the on Route 2 Eastbound from Sta. 9+00, 21’ RT, to Sta. 9+17.25, 20.5’ RT. (Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline) (straight granite edging).

• Reuse on the Slip Ramp from Sta. 9+01.55, 11.75’ LT to Sta. 9+21.3, 10.7’ LT (from the Route 2A (Line B) Record Baseline (Slip Ramp);

Any excess granite edging which is not reset under Item 583., shall be discarded under item 597.

ITEM 603.3 GUARDRAIL OFFSET BLOCK FOR STEEL POST – W- BEAM

Where highway guard is removed and reset, replace offset blocks in accordance with current standards. At a minimum replace offset blocks at the following locations: • Route 2A (Line B) Record Baseline (Slip Ramp), Sta. 7+92.5 to Sta.

13+50.5, RT. • At the Proposed Mast Arm Location, remove and reset guardrail for work to

install the mast arm, pull box, and conduit on the north side of Route 2 (westbound) – Replace the offset blocks at this guardrail from Sta. 14+37.1, 21.5’ LT to Sta. 15+03.3, 34.3’ LT (Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline.

ITEM 620.1 STEEL W BEAM HIGHWAY GUARD (SINGLE FACED)

As a Contingency to replace damaged guardrail, as directed by the Engineer.

Remove and discard any damaged highway guard only on the Route 2A (Line B) Record Baseline (Slip Ramp), as directed by the Engineer.

ITEM 697.1 SILT SACK At the two double drop Inlets located in close proximity to the Mast Arm work; located at the following approx. Sta. 15+00, 39.7’ LT and Sta. 15+50.9, 33.2’ LT (Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline (Route 2 WB); And as a Contingency for catch basins, drop inlets within or close to the project limits, as directed by the Engineer.

ITEM 702. HOT MIX ASPHALT WALK SURFACE

HMA walk surface will be constructed as a cap of proposed Island No. 1, STA. 14+94.2, 41.5’ RT to STA. 14+87.9, 64.6’ RT, (from Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline). Island No. 1 is located on the Route 2A Connector. The cap for proposed Island No. 1 will be placed in two 1.25 inch lifts.

ITEM 751. LOAM BORROW Place 4” of loam on the following areas: • Behind box widening areas (widening less than or equal to 4 feet in width) on

the Route 2A (Line B) Record Baseline (Slip Ramp), behind box widening areas on Line B Proposed Slip Ramp; behind box widening on the Route 2A Proposed Construction Centerline (Line C, Route 2A Connector), and on the section at the Route 2A Record Baseline (Route 2A) (see Construction plans for locations);

• Behind the proposed HMA curbing on the left side of the Route 2A (Line B) Record Baseline (Slip Ramp).

• On the pavement removal area on Route 2A (Line B) Record Baseline (Slip Ramp) from Sta. 214+30, 17’ RT to Sta. 214+30.7, 78.4’ RT (not including the area covered by pavement milling borrow material);

• On the pavement removal area at the corner of Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline (Route 2 EB) at Sta. 13+90, 21’ RT to Sta. 14+59, 76.6’ RT (on the Route 2A Connector) (not including the pavement milling borrow material area);

• On the pavement removal area on the Route 2A Proposed Construction Centerline (Line C, Route 2A Connector), Sta. 102+75 LT to Sta. 102+98 LT (not including the areas where pavement milling borrow material is used);

• At areas where granite edging is removed and reset (except at Island No. 1 which is to be topped with HMA sidewalk pavement); and except at Island No. 2 which is being removed and replaced with full-depth pavement reconstruction;

• At areas where the Mast Arm, pull boxes, and conduit work is performed; • Where guardrail is removed and reset in order to perform the Mast Arm

work; • Behind the reconstructed Paved Waterway (PWW), Sta. 15+27 RT to 16+12

RT (Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline, (Route 2 EB); • For contingency areas of HMA curb repair, or guardrail repair, and to repair

other disturbed areas as directed. Use in conjunction with Item 765. See Typical Sections.

ITEM 765. SEEDING Place seed all areas where loam was installed under item 751.

ITEM 767.12 COMPOST FILTER TUBES

To be placed around the Mast Arm (located at Sta. 14+90.5, 29’ LT (Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline, (Route 2 WB) for the installation work and around the associated pull box and conduit in this area on the westbound side of Route 2 and the removal and reset of guardrail from Sta. 14+37.1, 21.5’ LT to Sta. 15+03.3, 34.3’ LT (Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline). The erosion controls will be used to protect the water/drainage ditch to the west of the mast arm work, and the drop inlets and paved waterway to the north and northwest of the mast arm work. The compost filter tubes are to be placed behind the mast arm/pull box, and conduit work on the westbound side of Route 2 from • Sta. 14+37.4, 21.4’ LT to Sta. 15+03, 34,3’ LT (Route 2 (Line A) Record

Baseline); To be placed in the vicinity of the headwalls at the culvert located on the Route 2A Proposed Construction Centerline (Line C, Route 2A Connector) to act as check-dams in the drainage channel. The compost filter tubes will be installed at the following locations: • Sta. 103+15, 30’ LT to 103+50, 30’ LT • Sta. 103+20, 50’ LT to 103+55, 50’ LT And as a Contingency for erosion control as directed by the Engineer.

ITEM 769. PAVEMENT MILLING MULCH UNDER GUARDRAIL

Place millings mulch underneath highway guard on the Slip Ramp and at the guardrail removed and reset around the Mast Arm work. Install pavement milling mulch in the following areas: • Sta. 7+62.5 RT to Sta. 13+87.5 RT on the Route 2A (Line B) Record

Baseline (Slip Ramp); • Sta. 14+37 LT to Sta. 15+03 LT (Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline) on the

westbound side of Route 2

ITEM 815.1 TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL LOCATION NO. 1 Install flashing red/yellow beacon on mast arm at intersection Route 2 and the Route 2A Connector. The signal heads will be located over Route 2 at approx. location Sta. 15+10.5’, 0’, Route 2 (Line A) Record Baseline. The location of the mast arm is at Route 2 WB at approx.
