Life can be endured or life can be lived.
4
It is for you that I wrote this book. For those with more questions than answers, those looking for a greater purpose to their life.
5
The overarching theme of this book is discovering your destination, no matter what path you take. As the word itself entails, DESTINy is all about DESTINation.
6
Do not worry about what you cannot control. Focus instead on what you can control and what you can control will increase.
7
When you become attuned to your purpose and destiny it will seem like things fall in place for you. But it will only be so because you took consistent action in advance.
8
When you are a proactive person, you focus on acting within your circle of influence and focus less on those things that are outside this circle. The amazing thing is that the more you act within this circle of influence, the more proactive you become and the larger this circle
grows. Your influence grows.
9
Destiny is always outward looking, not self-seeking.
10
As a destiny maker, you are full of potential, connected to a higher intelligence, living on purpose, always prepared and exploiting every opportunity in order to fulfill your purpose.
11
If man was created to live eternally then man must have been endowed with the capability to eternally develop and continually progress, never running out of imagination or things to do and become.
12
Education and professions have unintentionally become one of the biggest destiny killers. Education should broaden our horizons and our possibilities and not stifle them. It should make us realise that there is a lot more out there we need to learn and do.
13
I now ascribe to God-esteem rather than self-esteem. Self-esteem anchors on yourself, God-esteem anchors on God. Self-esteem is boastful, God-esteem is humble but strong. Self-esteem is limited, God-esteem is unlimited.
14
Self-esteem is inward looking; God-esteem is outward looking. Self-esteem is weak, God-esteem is strong.
15
Knowledge is the key to God-esteem. It is practical, not some kind of state you hypnotise yourself into like self-esteem.
16
Move beyond learning simply to get qualifications or for work. Learn in order to prepare yourself for your destiny.
17
Never stop growing and never stop pursuing knowledge. It will help you immensely when the time comes.
18
When you have purpose, you are pursuing that which you are most capable of doing.
19
Purpose must be searched out. It needs to be found. If you are not looking at all, you will never find it.
20
Your purpose is not to be found in distant lands or in a faraway quest. Your purpose is to be found within you.
21
Self-knowledge is critical to purpose. When you know yourself better, knowing your purpose becomes easier.
22
Purpose is never selfish. It always seeks the greater good and to benefit more than just ourselves.
23
Many a dream has been shattered by sharing it with the wrong people who have stomped on it, spat on it and thrown it in the face of the person entrusting them with it. Be careful to whom you share your most personal things.
24
Spending money on your education is a good investment in yourself. You should value yourself enough to be able to spend on developing yourself.
25
No matter how much you know, you can know more. Make it a lifelong habit to educate yourself. Seek out opportunities for such education.
26
They say opportunity only knocks once, but they do not tell you that you can actually do the knocking yourself sometimes.
27
Destiny driven people are not just opportunity chasers, they are also opportunity creators.
28
Discard the romanticised idea of destiny being fate. There is no destiny but that which we create ourselves.
29
Destiny is when purpose meets opportunity.
30
The reason many give up is that they expect only smooth seas. So when they experience a little rough weather they abandon ship.
31
It is better to die for what you believe in than to live a mediocre and fearful life.
32
Destiny is not something we cannot escape, but rather something we create.
33
Whether we know it or not and thus whether passively or actively, every day we are creating our destiny through our thoughts and actions
34
Legacy is the ripple you cause in the sea of humanity and the echo you leave in the silence of time. It is the summation of your efforts and endeavours.
35
Determine to grow bigger than the challenges you are to encounter on your journey. Decide that nothing will stop you until you have what you want.
36
The world is not perfect and it can never be in our current state. But you can create something beautiful in this imperfect world.
37
We are all born with a seed deep inside of us that is a reminder of our greatness and that urges us to find the greater meaning of life and of our existence.
38
Destiny is not as mysterious as it may seem. Neither is it as out of reach as it has been portrayed and understood to be.
39
As humans, we are created with free will, or the ability to determine our own course of action from among different options that we have. The ability to decide what course of action to take gives us the ability to determine our future.
40
When you become attuned to your purpose and destiny it will seem like things fall in place for you. But it will only be so because you took consistent action in advance.
41
Everything you have gone through can be useful on your journey, if only you ask the right questions.
42
You see other people as valuable and equally important, having found deeper meaning in your own life.
43
You learn from failures and keep moving forward. You do not let them get you down for long. You know they are part of the journey.
44
You live in an atmosphere of positive expectation. You hope for and look for the best in every situation. But at the same time, you are prepared to face and to deal with the worst too.
45
Potential is simply all you can possibly be and do. It is not what you have already done or become because once you achieve something it is no longer potential.
46
The habit of learning new things, whether through reading, listening to audio or simply watching an educational video online, is a valuable one to develop.
47
In a formal education, the books and topics you read are outlined for you, but in informal education you decide what you want to learn. That opens an exciting world of possibilities for you. There are no limits to what you can learn, know and do.
48
Move beyond learning simply to get qualifications or for employment. Learn in order to prepare yourself for your destiny.
49
That is why I take great pride in this work. It is a culmination of my learning in this area over the past 22 years or so. It is my gift to humanity in sharing what I have learnt in 40 years of living on this earth. It is my guide for the next chapter of my life. Now I truly feel the past four
50
decades have been preparation to unleash my own greatness. It is my summary of what I consider to be important in life as far as personal development and self-actualisation is concerned. It is my destiny.
51
In some cases, for those with a very positive self-image, self-esteem may even border on pride. That can also be just as destructive as low self-esteem. Pride places our egos above everything else. It makes us unreceptive to constructive criticism and ultimately gives us a false sense of self-worth and security.
52
My philosophy is always to do what I love to do and to be free of societal pressures to conform or behave a certain way. After all, most of society is dull and uninspiring anyway, so why follow them?
53
Your purpose is not to be found in distant lands or in a faraway quest. Your purpose is to be found within you.
54
I would define opportunities further as "the times or circumstances that you are ready for and that enable you to fully exploit your potential and fulfill your purpose."
55
The key is to handle and manoeuvre through those circumstances that are beyond your control whilst creating those circumstances you desire.
56
The best approach is to always create those circumstances that you need and have control over, whilst always looking to exploit circumstances that randomly present themselves.
57
When you are focused on the ultimate objective the things you must do to get there are less frightful. Their necessity to getting you there will spur you on.
58
Spouses should, in my view, help one another to be the best that they can be.
59
God gave me a choice in choosing him and so I have no right to take away that choice from others.
60
It is impossible to love others if we do not love ourselves.
61
Change is possible and within our reach, but it takes effort, courage and commitment. It takes willingness to make sacrifices and do whatever is necessary to achieve your goals. It takes boldness. It takes audacity. It takes vision and a focus that is unflinching.
62
Through your consistent thoughts and actions, you bring about the results, circumstances and opportunities that create your destiny. These actions and thoughts may be intentional or not. You are largely in control of your thoughts and actions and therefore largely in control of your destiny.
63
Discard the romanticised idea of destiny being fate. There is no destiny but that which we create ourselves.
64
Most successful people do not think of themselves as destined for anything. They think of themselves as hard working people that never gave up and eventually got what they wanted in life.
65
When your purpose and the opportunity before you are aligned, destiny happens.
66
When you meet the right opportunity, that opportunity that enables you to do best at that which you are most capable of doing, comes along, destiny happens.
67
When we learn from failure it is no longer failure but a lesson. When we neglect to learn from failure it becomes absolute.
68
Legacy is the lasting change and influence that results from your purpose and destiny. Legacy is the ripple you cause in the sea of humanity and the echo you leave in the silence of time.
69
Every failure has a lesson and is thus a potential stepping stone to the next level of your journey.
70
But do not become too cosy with success. It can kill your dreams and make you content before you have reached your destination.
71
Push yourself to your limits. When you have reached those limits, set new limits. Then push yourself some more.
72
Prepare well. When you have prepared, prepare some more. Never tire of "getting ready." The day will come when you will be glad you did. The day will come when it will all fit together beautifully.
73
The only place you can act is now, not yesterday and not tomorrow. It is always today. It is always now. That is all you have. Use it.
74
Life can be great when you are great.
75
On your journey, value everyone. Remember that everyone has their own unique contribution. Everyone deserves a chance. Treat everyone you meet alike, from the president to the beggar on the street.
76
The potential in every man is such that it cannot be utilised to its full extent without bringing about greatness.
77
You are all you can be.
Go on and be it.
