Destination Imagination!

On March 11th, eleven teams represented Challenge School at the district Destination Imagination tournament at Grandview High School.

The Dragonflies competed in the Rising Stars challenge, “Save the Day,” …. Team members: Valentina M., Alexxa D., Atlas A., Khrystos S., and Kaya, E. Team managers: Mark Muktoyuk and Ray Dorow

….as did Good vs Evil…… Team members: Zack S., Sailor R., Izabella L., Deborah G., Samuel G., Alina S., Ermuun B., Breck D., and Mikey K. Team manager: Kunhua Song

….and The Invincible Creators….. Team members: Cameron O., Tais I., Logan K., Sophia M., Carson C., Mason C., Lena B., and Jonathan F. Team manager: Erin Orcutt

….and The Cats with Sharp Claws! Team members: Christian R., Jazmine H., Tanisha M., Ani Y., Embry K., Padraig M., Travis K., and Lily N. Team manager: Nathan Romine

Challenge School had three competitive elementary teams.

The DI Destroyers competed in “In It Together,” the engineering challenge, and had to build a structure to support as much weight as possible. They are going on to represent Challenge School at the State tournament! Team members: Kiran H., Anthony L, Johnny L., Samuel D., Jesse Z., Deryn B., and Felicity L. Team manager: Martin Herz

The Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies competed in the “Top Secret” scientific challenge with their amazing blender gadget…. Team members: Kaden B., Sreeja T., Anna A., Ameilia S., Benjamin H., and Dane A. Team manager: Deanna Bustamante

….along with the Coffee Squad, who carried out a secret mission with a vice principal in disguise and scored well enough to come in 3rd and represent Challenge School at the State Tournament. Team members: Rylan L, Sydney D., Jaden J., Patrick O., Sophia M., Grace C., and Manishasri K. Team manager: Vicki Little

Challenge also had four middle school teams.

The Seven Hyper Unicorn Donut Dorks on Fire competed in the “3-Peat” improv challenge and had to tell the same story three times using different characters in different genres…. Team members: William D., Miriam T., Nikolas C., Phoebe L, Paige H., Katie S., and Saiyette D. Team manager: Kimberly Daniels

…..as did the Electric Goth Whales. They are Logan C., Akhniyet M., Amy J., Ananya S., and Khairi M. led by their team manager, Jon Carelli.

Error Name Not Found portrayed rapping emojis in the “Vanished” fine arts challenge. They came in 3rd and will also represent Challenge at the State Tournament. Team members: Lily L., Aakansksha M., Akshita U., Sravyasri L., Brynn A., Kahari W., and Timmy W. Team managers: Christy and Alan Legleiter

And returning for a second year is our Challenge high school level team, Destination Procrastination, composed of Challenge alumni and current middle school students. This creative team is also going on to represent Challenge School at the State Tournament, competing in the “Ready, Willing, and Fable” service learning challenge, where they made care packages for chemotherapy patients. They are: Elizabeth K., Aimee R., Lohit T., and Sahit T. Susan Resnick is their team manager.
