A famous Stoic philosopher called Seneca stated that our life is long however not a lot of people have the ability to maximise their value of time(be productive) and/or do a lot in a certain value of time. Hence, inspired by him and another modern stoic Tai Lopez. Azadidome has started creating an anti-procrastination project which goes by the acronym desperate.

DESPARATE It is not that we have a short space of time, but we waste

much of it,-Seneka, On the Shortness of Life

Time-management and procrastination has been a really hard issues for me to deal with in recent years. I have spent a lot of time on courses of time-management. I have had some great advice and some abso-lute time-wasters. However, I have come to realise that procrastination is something part of the human experience and especially the modern human experience. For me, procrastination mainly comes from the lack of delegation of time for activities which contribute little or absolutely nothing to your life.

The brain always needs constant reminders to shut itself from temporary distractions. Hence, I have disocovered my DESPERATE System. How do you spell DESPERATE? D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E. The main purpose of this is to decrease the time or the attention provided to activities which criminally waste time. When delegating time for a task or considering how much attention should you place on a particu-lar task such as going on your phone to see your text messages, shitting, going to sleep and going to shower.

Inspired by Tai Lopezs podcast, 8 Ways Not to Waste Time and Procastinate, I have decided to create a simple criteria which is in an acrostic form which has a main purpose of reminding yourself or how much attention and time you should place on a particular task in a order to maximise efficiency and pro-ductivity.

So lets cut to the chase. Next time you find yourself getting on your phone or

computer, going on to a social network or any other website when you really

supposed to be doing something else. Ask yourself if you are desperate.

Dependancy: People who take drugs or alcohol greatly diminish their own ca-

pability in order to be efficient (finish your goal in the least time possible) and

productive(maximising the importance of your time). However, the buck of

dependancy does not end there. The chemical definition of a drug is any sub-

stance which changes your physiological behaviour, alternates your mood or

your perception. If you are attached to any activity which makes you feel more

confident or makes you feel better. You must remove that particular activity or

material from your presence for short periods of time. For example, if you really

like wearing a piece of shirt, you should for a month you bar yourself from wear-

ing or looking at that particular shirt to train yourself not to be attached to it. If

you like coffee, give yourself a 3 weeks away from coffee or caffeine in any form.

If you are going to twitter, at a time where you are scheduled to make a pam-

phlet or write a book. Ask yourself, Am I being dependent on Twitter?

Efficiency: Efficiency is the ability of completing or conducting as much of a

particular task. For example, the ability to complete a manifesto in a shorter

time period is called being more efficient. However, being more efficient al-

though not important may not always be good. For example, if your aim is to

live a long life however you plan to drink more say alcohol on a Friday or Satur-

day than you are being efficient in drinking. But being counter-productive to

your main goal of living longer. On the other hand, in the case in which you have

a goal which your really have a desire for than you should or must focus on effi-

ciency. For example, if your goal is to write up a manifesto. Then researching

how to increase your writing speed for 30 minutes a day may allow you to com-

plete your task in a shorter time period. Hence, allow you to achieve more effi-

ciency. If you want to complete a task in a shorter time period than you are

looking for ways to increase or improve your efficiency. Although being more ef-

ficient may allow you to be more productive they are not the same thing. When

searching up resources or writing up manifestoes, I have in my personal experi-

ence learned that these two researches are best kept separate.

Servitude: The definition of servitude is considering yourself to some form ac-

countable to other people. Although, you should be thankful to other people

around you and provide to other people and realise their importance. It is im-

portant that you also focus on yourself and personal development. As through

this you can maximise the value of time that you spent with other people It is

important to understand that only you have a 100% of your biological DNA.

Hence, if you want to push a task through your organisation only you can do it.

Expect to carry out most of a project that your propose. Dont beg anyone else

to do it for you. If you feel that you can do something better than do it. If you

feel that a manifesto is too long than create a shorter one. If you dont like the

way that a manifesto is written than write it in your own words.

Productivity: Productivity is the ability to maximise your value of time. The

ability to use your time for activities or tasks which enhance your goal is called

productivity. As the famous Stoic philosopher Seneka explains people who focus

on their interests are never successful. This is because say if you have 5 interests

and you spent your time on each of those interests than you are likely not going

to achieve anything towards your goal. However, if you plan and execute activi-

ties which are contrary to your goal or not allowing you to achieve your goal

than you are being counter-productive because you are not maximising your val-

ue of time. For example, if your goal is to create a socialist organisation. A task

that you might choose to conduct is to write a manifesto. If you want to max-

imise your value of time or create a better manifesto in a shorter time than you

might learn how to be more efficient. If your audience are the broad masses

than you should frame your words in a way that they appeal to the broad masses.

If your manifesto is supposed to be intellectuals, than you may choose a citation

format familiar in most intellectual circles. If you want both than you may

choose a comprise of techniques. If your goal is to be a muscular person. Then

why are reading about reducing your weight. You should focus on how to lift

weights. If you want to build muscle, than you can maximise your gym or work

    out time by taking proteins.

Elf Syndrome: You must not consider yourself a victim. Do not consider that

you cant do something because of someone else. If your parents are not going to

help you create your organisation or told you never to create one, then stop

moaning about them and build your organisation yourself. If someone bullied

you because you learn to fast or question society and if you want to learn fast

than stop thinking about people who bullied or make fun of you because you

learn fast, then stop thinking about those people and move on. Keep them away

from you as much as possible. However, if you cant try to make your life as busy

as possible. In order to avoid contact. If you think in a very logical way and

some people dont like it, then minimize them from your social circle.Keep a

reminder of them especially the things that they say to you, so that you could

prove their annoying and dull comments wrong in the long run.

Restraints: The dictionary definition of restraints is a measure or condition

that keeps one in check. A lot of times you may feel that you have restraints or

shackles on you or that you are not able to get things done due to external fac-

tors such as your dependency on the work being done by other comrades or you

not having enough resources to complete what you want. However, this is im-

portant thing that you have to consider. Maybe you will have to save up money

for some time in order to spend it. In the mean time you could do other things

which will allow you to perform excellent when you get the money to buy some-

thing that you need for a particular activity.

Apparatus: You must also ask yourself are you using the right apparatus or

could you be using a better apparatus. The dictionary definition of apparatus is

the machinery or the system a person or a group of people for a particular activ-

ity or purpose. This applies both in a psychological and physical terms. If you

are supposed to be writing a book on your computer and you have a phone in

your hand, you should be wondering do I really need this phone to write in my

hand now. If you are supposed to be using Word in order to write up a mani-

festo, why are you on Chrome. If you believe that an apparatus that you are us-

ing isnt good enough then you should change up and try or a new one, create a

new one or work with other people to create a new one. For example, if you

want to loose weight and dont find enough time to play basketball or any sports

or go to the gym, ditch the elevator and take a walk up the stairs, cause although

the elevator allows you to be more efficient or it allows you to reach greater

height. You might maximise your value of time or increase productivity by

simply walking upstairs. If you want to get a head start on understanding Sun

Tzu, The Art of War, before reading it, try listening to an audiobook while in

the gym or while running in the park. If you find it irritating to read a 70 page

manifesto by your organisation then create your own one. If you dont like read-

ing the communist manifesto but still think it is important work with a friend

or in a group to make a more compact or ergonomic one.

Tender: Tender means being vulnerable. Although, a lot of people are vulnera-

ble to emotions and allow their emotions to take total control over them, you

cannot allow that to be you. For example, if you learn the fact that Charlie

Hebbo died. Then you shouldnt be mourning and sad. Especially, if it isnt part

of your goal. If your goal is to translate a manifesto, than although you may be

efficiently being human through feeling, you are unable to maximize your pro-

ductivity or increase your value of time. It can be argued that translating a mani-

festo is a better use of time than mourning. However, you allow emotions and

feelings which are not too important to prevent you from finishing a task. There

are a lot of people who allow emotions to control them. However, they are un-

able to make emotions to allow them to drive them. You should always ask your-

self, Are you controlling your emotions? or Are your emotions controlling

    you?

Existence: When you are alive you are existing. You are scientifically breathing

in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide into the environment. Its true that you

must take care of health. However, dont just contribute carbon dioxide to the

environment. The nearest power plant or factory will probably pump up more

carbon dioxide in one day than you may do if you live a really healthy lifestyle.

Hence, dont make your aim just to exist. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas

and is dangerous for the environment, through your mere survival you will just

contribute to increased green-house emissions and that is nothing to be proud

about. Occupy your schedule with activities which allow you to be more produc-

tive towards your goal. If you dont try to do so, than you will fail. For example,

if you are a student in university and you are studying something which is of no

interest to you or not helping you achieve your end goal and according to you

cannot be applied in a proletarian revolution. Than you might as well drop out

of university as it is not adding value to your time or not increasing your pro-

ductivity. Lets face it you are existing. However, if you deeply interested in what

is thought at your university or for you and your team, the facts or knowledge

gain through your experience. Than your tasks and operations are gaining value

with time. Hence, you are living. Next time, if you really want to complete a

task, try to think if it is allowing you to exist or live. Do not confuse this with

happiness. Sometimes you are going to have to challenge yourself to do things

which may make you temporarily unhappy or place you in some form of difficul-

ty or uncomfortableness. Make sure you are living every moment of your life not

    just merely existing.
