Meet Mike Hlabana, our mechanic.

Big Mike as he is affectionately known began his career at Deale and Huth in 1984. When they closed doors 8 years later he moved to Alan Van Heerden Cycles where he established himself as a top mechanic working for Alan and the Southern Sun Cycling Team which at that time had all the big names in cycling: Mark and Gary Beneke, Andrew McLean and Willie Engelbrecht to mention a few. After 15 years of faithfull service Mike left when the shop closed to join Dunkeld Cycles where he has been for the last 3 years. Mike is a father of 3 and has one simple philosophy when it comes to his workshop: “If a bike is not 100% it does not go out!”

If you are not a windsurfer, you may have never heard of Hong Kong based company NeilPryde. I was certainly not familiar with the brand when I saw an ad in ProCycling Magazine describing a ―range of high performance road bikes…‖ I’ll admit…I was a bit skeptical about the idea of high-end road bikes from a company that makes windsurfers. I expected to see “off the shelf” sourced carbon frames with custom graphics and decals.Maybe a few cool graphics or a floral Hawaian design. That is definitely not the case though, with their two new framesets, the Diablo and the Alize. Both bikes were designed in collaboration with BMW Designworks USA, and both look amazing. The new NeilPryde bikes website features a design page, where you can find out more about the development of the new frames. LUNGAVITA A dream come true.

Lungavita is a bicycle that Giovanni Pinarello was very keen on making. This model includes a tribute to the first colour schemes of the Pinarello cycles of 1951, in the colours that were in fashion at the time. The frame is made of 6061 T6 aluminium and strictly in a Single Speed version with the rims painted – a rarity in this sector.
