Challenge and Approach

A redesign of the Hoopla admin

panel – the control panel portion

of a SalesForce app that

motivates salespeople.

A design review found UX issues that included hiding information from the user, a

system that was to complex for the majority of users to understand, and a

disconnect between input and visibility.

A comprehensive re-design occurred, and the admin was completely altered to

improve usability and allow a user to manage large numbers of Hoopla players and

easily create channels. The new interface moved away from a ‘database’ model and

to a more user-centric model.

Final Thoughts-Designing for the Salesforce Platform

• No design is perfect the first time

– Iterate and constantly get feedback!

• Invest time and effort in lower fidelity designs

– Its cheaper to make changes to prototypes and sketches than code

• Don’t reinvent the wheel unless there is a really good reason

– Determine if you have a reason to make the UX different

– If not, use platform standards

– If yes, test and iterate

• People expect better UX in Enterprise now
