Combined with Sub ASIS pads, our hook and loop compatible belts provide two firm points of contact with the pelvis. The result is greatly enhanced stability and improved control of obliquity and rotation while minimising abdominal compression. They also provide space for gastric tubing.

Measuring for Leg HarnessesMeasure from the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS) to the point where the inner thigh touches the seat.
Upper Body Positioning
Measuring for Shoulder HarnessesMeasure shoulder width. If the shoulder width falls between two sizes, consider other factors such as growth, weight changes, and clothing.
XS 9.5” - 11” (24cm - 28cm)S 11” - 13” (28cm - 33cm)M 13” - 16” (33cm - 41cm)L 16” - 19” (41cm - 48cm)XL 19” - 22” (48cm - 56cm)
Measuring for Monoflexes and Chest StrapsMeasure the user’s trunk around the front and sides at the height at which the Monoflex will be worn. Consult the pad sizes and select the size that will cover the front and wrap at least halfway around each side of the trunk, leaving a gap in the front of the wheelchair’s back support to allow space for tightening the buckles.
XS 14” - 17.5” (36cm - 45cm)S 18” - 21.5” (46 cm- 55cm)M 22” - 25.5” (56cm - 65cm)L 26” - 29.5” (66cm - 75cm)XL 30” - 33.5” (76cm - 85cm)

Measuring for Ankle Huggers
Measure circumference above ankle.

Where to fix a belt to correct for posterior tilt?
The proper positioning location of a belt to control for posterior pelvic tilt, and to position a person in their chair for maximum functional reach, and minimal risk of submarining, is to have the belt fixed anterior to the greater trochanter. Not only does this allow for greater reach, but in doing so allows for offloading of the ischial tuberosities while preventing submarining.
Positioning a belt at 45º tends to occur because this is associated with commonly experienced restraint belts in cars and aircraft. This position can indeed lead to injury. The user can slip back into posterior tilt. Submarining is possible with risk of choking and damage to the abdomen.
Fastening a belt around the belly as shown in the above image is not appropriate. If a belt is fastened around the belly it digs into soft tissues causing discomfort and pressure on the stomach. It also allows for submarining and posterior tilt, and can lead to injury.

Bodypoint® has introduced a new standardised means to measure pelvic positioning belts to enable prescribers to match the needs and measures of the contact surfaces of the belt padding with the user's needs.

Measuring for Pelvic Positioning Belts
Using a flexible measuring tape, measure the distance over the body - this corresponds to the belts padded length. See new standard to belts section and describe pelvic positioning.
