Solving challenges.™ HALLIBURTON

We test to the limit so that we can build confidence

We design our valves to meet your specifications and well requirements. That means we can offer solutions for a wide range of applications and challenges. Customized designs do not have to be complex. Together, we’ll review all functions to help ensure reliability and simplicity work hand in hand.

Designed and tested for flexibility, reliability, and deliverability.

Whether you’re involved in conventional shelf or land work, HP/HT, deep water, or high rate gas, we provide a full product line with the support of a dedicated product supply chain.

When designing subsurface safety valves, Halliburton considers several factors including:

– Sealing elements, such as our spherical sealing surfaces on the flapper that deliver a true 100% metal-to-metal capability that passes API Specification 14A Class 1 and 2 testing without a resilient seal.

– Debris management through flow tube isolation at both ends using maximized spring force and optimized piston areas for enhanced debris tolerance.

– Material selection and loading considerations.

Each and every manufactured subsurface safety valve goes through functional tests to help ensure it meets API specifications.

• Pre-testing and re-testing equipment before field release

• Measuring results to track achievement of ZERO goal set

What are your challenges? Let’s solve them together.

Whatever energy challenges confront you and your organization, it is highly likely that Halliburton has met and helped master them in one part of the world or another. We would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to meet and talk with you about the challenges you face.

In addition to normal API verification, Halliburton has standardized an extended performance-based

prototype test program. Each phase of the test is specifically designed to verify overall valve durability.

For example, extended verification testing of sand slurry environments consists of a minimum of 120 slam closures

against sand slurry as opposed to the seven closures of an API 14A Class 2 test.

Experience, excellence, and expertise matter.

There are many reasons Halliburton has been involved in over 90% of all deepwater operations worldwide. One reason is experience. Experience matters when it comes to solving challenges, reducing uncertainty and increasing reliability. That’s why Halliburton Subsurface Safety Equipment is found around the globe. Since 1990, over 30,000 Halliburton safety valves have been sold. And since 2000 we have delivered, on average, more than five safety valves each and every day to our clients for use in their completions.

Global test capabilities.

Halliburton Completion Technology Centers in Carrollton, TX and Singapore are home to highly advanced testing and design facilities that are second to none. These facilities include engineering analysis and support, high temperature/ high pressure testing, and tool prequalification to API and ISO requirements and to meet specific customer challenges. Our Subsurface Safety Valve (SSSV) test capabilities employ rigorous endurance requirements that go far beyond what an SSSV may experience during its service lifetime. One such endurance test involves extended testing of sand slurry environments which exceeds API requirements. It consists of a minimum of 120 slam closures against sand slurry as opposed to the seven closures of an API Class II test.

Our centers are equipped with Deep Well Simulators that are used to test equipment designs for use in HP/HT wells. We can design and implement specific tests to simulate extreme well conditions. We also operate two working test wells with rig capabilities that allow us to simulate actual well installation procedures and environments before running new tools in a customer’s well.

Dedicated team helps competence, collaboration, and cooperation.

Our Safety Valve team consists of experienced global technical advisors, design engineers, test technicians, dedicated manufacturing teams, service specialists and more. This team collaborates and counsels on standard to customized safety solutions for every situation from conventional to HP/HT designs. In the initial planning stages we can work with your completion engineers, taking into account everything from Finite Element Analysis to Computational Fluid Dynamics, to help ensure you’re getting just the right equipment for your specific needs. And the global team can continue to help from initial design to installation and through the life of your well.

HAL00000

Another reason is excellence. Product performance pays off for more than 250 Halliburton customers in over 60 different countries. With a 97% plus reliability rate, that’s excellence you can count on.

And when it comes to expertise, Halliburton’s skills and proficiency in subsurface design extend to the entire safety system. We apply our knowledge to develop and integrate surface-controlled subsurface safety valves and production automation equipment. Our safety systems can be used as total systems or as subsystems in an overall safety installation.

That’s why our Subsurface Safety Equipment is found around the globe. Since 1990, over 30,000 Halliburton safety valves have been delivered.

97% plus

reliability rate

At Halliburton, nothing is more important than keeping people safe and protecting the environments in which they work. That is why we have a full-time, senior level team charged with improving and enhancing health, safety, and environment (HSE) and service quality (SQ) programs. Our company-wide HSE and SQ initiatives encompass personnel safety plus process assurance and execution. We even organize our product service lines with attention to HSE and SQ in the process design, execution, training and competency standards of the people performing the work.
