design for livingbrand
Woven wool, furnishing accessories, a laid table, the feel of the material under your fingers, an idea that
represents a break from the usual interpretations. An armchair that transmits its comfort in an irresistible, almost
telepathic manner, a lamp that emits its light. Tables, coffee tables, round, oval, large, small. Mirrors, candlesticks
and lamps reflect beams of light and shade like in a dream. Then there are vases, boxes, containers and
trays to hold life’s everyday items. Every object is contextualised to last in time, to stir the emotions: if merely
displayed they would only lose their poetry. And so they pose and wait, dialogue with the others, a study in
consistency and simplicity: underneath there is a common thread that unites them.

The thread of design
Atipico is a project that breaks the mould of design and makes it part of everyday life. Strictly ‘made in Italy’, it
seeks to make every aspect of our daily lives more beautiful. No traces of immobility, a continuous flux of ideas
and relations, an amalgam of visions: decorative aspects and functionality form an indissoluble union. Fusions
of materials - cement, cork, fabric, iron, glass - result in a minimalist, highly elegant aesthetic.
Unconventional aesthetics

There is continuous research behind the Atipico project, a rewarding dialogue with
young designers, a rich exchange of ideas, a joint effort that brings together visions,
concepts, practices, techniques. Suggestions stem from personal paths, from a
preference for this or that material, from the inventions of a specific moment.
We choose people, not just ideas

Everything is fertile, never seen, embraced and compared with the Atipico philosophy
and its passion for design. The result are objects designed for those that are looking for
something new, different in form and functionality, consistent in their strength, in their
beauty, protagonists of a lifestyle that is different, better.

Antonino Sciortino
Born in Bagheria, he began learning the
blacksmith’s trade in his brother’s workshop
whilst falling in love with dance at the same time
and attending a dance school in Palermo. After
a brilliant career as a dancer and choreographer,
in 2003 he joined the Compagnia del Giardino
in Milan and embarked on a new artistic phase
– the constant exploration of iron processing
– in a bid to find the same ethereal lightness
present in dance. His creations are inspired by
the unusual use of annealed wire, a special,

more malleable type of iron that can resemble
both wood or plastic and which can be used to
produce soft lines, spatial animation, “dancing”
shadows. Sciortino revisits the incredibly rich
legacy of artisanal knowledge and knowhow
that represents the epitome of Italian flair and
creativity, acquainting the rest of the world with
our nation’s excellence and inventiveness.

their own studio and began working with
companies such as Casamania by Frezza, Koziol
and Fontana Arte. Between 2001 and 2003
they formed part of the Hall group, developing
project-experimental exhibitions in Milan
during the Salone del Mobile and in New
York during ICFF. Cecilia works as an interior
designer and designed, together with De8

Busatta, Buzzini, Bigio, Meier, Zanon
Crudo is a pure design project inspired by the
concepts of simplicity and craftsmanship that
belong to the Italian culture and, in particular,
our cuisine. Indeed the five designers of this
range of tableware are all Italian: Barbara
Busatta, Dario Buzzini, Robin Bigio, Martin
Meier and Oliviero Zanon. Glass, ceramics and
terra cotta are the materials of choice for these
plates, bowls and cups, all of which stand out for
their clean and elegant design.

Carlo Trevisani
After graduating from the ISIA in Faenza
with a dissertation on the experimental use of
paraffin waxes in lighting technology, since 2000
he has collaborated with designers Paolo Zani,
Stefano Gallizioli and Matteo Thun in their
studios in Milan. Since 2008 he has worked as
an independent designer. He has always been
interested in exploring the sense of interaction
between men and objects and the emotional
relationship that develops between them.

Zaven
Founded in 2006 by designers Enrica Cavarzan
and Marco Zavagno, Studio Zaven explores all
possible cross-references between research into
communications, design and art. Located in a
highly evocative area in the former Marghera
industrial estate, it looks out onto the Venice
lagoon. Its activities range from graphics to the
design of products and systems, with a strictly
unconventional approach. The great ability
of the two founders to develop partnerships
between creatives from different backgrounds is
a key aspect of the creations of Studio Zaven,
both within and outside of the design world.

Fabio Meliota
Fabio Meliota was born in San Pietro Vernotico
in the province of Brindisi and began his path
by graduating in architecture in Pescara and
attending the Cesare Manzo contemporary
art gallery for several years, an experience he
described as crucial preparation for his first steps
in the design world. Having completed his studies
he joined “kei_en studio” founded by Enzo
Calabrese with whom as well as co-designing
projects produced by companies such as Listone
Giordano, Lema, Covo, Rapsel, Touchdeign/
Italamp and L’Abbate he was selected by Adi
Index for the 2007 Compasso d’Oro with the
B:Room project for Listone Giordano, and
invited to various exhibitions. In 2011 he founded
the eF/eM design&lighting studio in Pescara, the
city where he lives and works.

Studiocharlie
Studiocharlie was founded in 2002 by Gabriele
Rigamonti, Carla Scorda, Vittorio Turla. Its
mission is to produce objects with a highly graphical
appearance, images in space that are materialised
in order to be shared. For Studiocharlie designing
is a vocation that is independent of the field in
which it is applied. You can design on a sheet of
paper using lines and colours; in the same way you
can design on steel, with lasers and folds, or on
fabric, with yarn and weaves. The important thing
is to take care over every detail and remain faithful
to the original idea: this is how the idea, now the
object, maintains the purity and minimalism of its
conception process.
