PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF INTER MODAL TRANSIT CENTRE (IMTC) AT SUBHASHNAGAR, BANGALORE, KARNATAKA, INDIA. EXECUTIVE SUMMERY Currently inter city busses, Moffusil buses and inter state services are operating from the Subhash Nagar Bus station. KSRTC and BMTC are having some of their depots in these premises. The total area of the Bus station is 40 Acres. The Metro Rail Project includes a two level station which is proposed to be constructed in the Subhash Nagar Bus station area. The area earmarked for the Metro station and the two corridors which is passing through the building is 7.5 Acres. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited stipulates that the structure built by KSRTC/BMTC should be constructed in such a manner that they do not transfer the any additional load on to the BMRCL structure. In view of the metro start there construction, BMTC operation is expected to be completely disturbed and KSRTC will operate only a part of its services. Since the metro station is proposed literally in the middle of the Subhash Nagar Bus station it has become necessary to rebuild the KSRTC/BMTC/ KSRTC/BMTC propose to build the new station as a state of the art Bus station of international standards with adequate passenger amenities and utilities. It proposes to house some of the departments and other staff requirements in the bus station. KSRTC/BMTC propose is to build an Inter Modal Transit Centre integrating the passengers from Metro/KSRTC/BMTC and the adjacent Railway Station.
