• Design is a creative planning process that leads to useful products and systems.

• There is no perfect design. • Requirements for a design are made up

of criteria and constraints.• Design involves a set of steps that can

be performed in different sequences and repeated when needed.

solving design process in which each person in the group presents his or her ideas in an open forum.

• Modeling, testing, evaluating, and modifying are used to transform ideas into practical solutions.

• Innovation often involves decreasing the overall capabilities of a product or system in order to increase its ability to perform a more narrow or specific task very efficiently. This process is called specialization of function.

• New products or systems can be developed to solve problems that can not be done without the help of technology.
