Design and static analysis of a Steering Knuckle Abstract: Steering knuckle is one of the important components of vehicle which acts as a coupler unit to join wheel hub, spindle arrangement to the vehicle chassis members with the help of control A-arms. It undergoes different loading conditions in vertical, horizontal, lateral directions. The main two constraints are weight reduction and space compensation to accommodate in a race car. So, we will go to design a steering knuckle that fulfil above constraints and loading conditions by designing it in 3D CAD software. The FEA analysis have to be done for reducing stress concentrations at critical locations after modelling the knuckle CAD model in Solidworks software. By observing the stress concentrations in different structural cross sections, the best design can be concluded. The materials that are used to design this component either ductile or brittle materials like Aluminium or cast steel. Team Members: 1.12PA1A0350 2.12PA1A0342 3.12PA1A0335 4.13PA5A0310 5.12PA1A0319

Abstract:

Steering knuckle is one of the important components of vehicle which acts as a coupler unit to join wheel hub, spindle arrangement to the vehicle chassis members with the help of control A-arms.
