After all the talks and presentations I do around the world many people ask for copies of the Bedouin proverbs from my slides.

I believe the values we live by only increase in value only when we pass them on, so it gives me pleasure to pass on them onto you. I trust the inherent wisdom contained in these proverbs will inspire you to Lengthen Your Stride and increase your efforts to embed the values of responsibility and sustainability in your personal, family, social and business lives.

Lost is the person who forgets their past.

Only three things in life are certain - birth, change and death.

Every day of your life is a page of your history.

One day your life will pass in front of your eyes, so make it worthy to look at.

When the purpose (passion) is known, there will be no more wonder.

He who eats when he is full, digs his grave with his teeth.

An army of lambs led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a lamb.

Think of the going out before you enter.

Planning is half of living.

The camel driver has his plans and the camel has his.

A promise is a cloud - fulfillment is rain.

When your son is young discipline him, when he grows up, become his brother.

Do good to people and you'll enslave their hearts.

The dearest to me are those of best character.

Manage with bread and butter until God brings the jam.

You are like a tree, giving your shade to the outside.

Fixing what you have is better than waiting to get what you don't have.

Dwell not upon your weariness, your strength shall be according to the measure of your desire.

Leading by example is better than giving and advice.

Let us sit bent but talk straight.

Every sun has to set.

When you sleep in a house your thoughts are as high as the ceiling, when you sleep outside they are as high as the stars.

The dawn does not come twice to awaken a man.

For every glance behind us, we have to look twice to the future.

One hand cannot applaud.
