Two Key Ingredients

1. RDF – Resource Description FrameworkGraph based Data – nodes and arcs Identifies objects (URIs) Interlink information (Relationships)

2. Vocabularies (Ontologies) provide shared understanding of a domain organise knowledge in a machine-comprehensible way give an exploitable meaning to the data

Business Intelligence

Business Insight Platform Provides timely, actionable

intelligence and diagnosis on the health of online communities

– e.g. enterprise social media networks, discussion forums

where user behaviour and user-generated content underpin core commercial services

– e.g. customer relationship management, technical support

Data Integration Technologies

Semantic Data Enables applications to

discover, transform and consume “structured” data.

– Semantic data– Linked Open Data– Microformats– Enterprise Data

Value Proposition– Extremely low cost Vs

“classical” data integration techniques

– Rapid time to deployment– Immense Scalability on

commodity hardware

Novelty– Combines index based

applications with novel semantic methods

– Large Scale Data processing– Entity Consolidation– Information Retrieval– Data Visualisation

Integration Platform

Data Integration Technologies

Sindice State of the art

infrastructure to process, consolidate and query the Web of Data

Sigma Brower, Mash-up generator, API Sigma can be used by humans

and software agents alike to obtain structured data about any entity

Data Integration Technologies

PPEPR Plug and play electronic

patient records– Semantic Middleware used to

integrate patient record systems.

– Significantly reduced integration costs

“Sqwelch” Create customized integrated

applications on the web using intercommunicating web widgets.

– Codeless application composition – Distributed integration platform

through widgets– Ease of integration through

semantics– Enables hot swapping of components
