APS P & CAPS P & C
On behalf of our school community, I would like to acknowledge the ongoing dedication and commitment of our P & C Association to support the students in our school. At our final meeting for 2017, the P & C provided funds (just under $20 000) for the school to purchase a range of additional resources, including early childhood playground equipment, reading books, a water fountain, updated laptop to manage our audio visuals in the Undercover Area and the marking of a range of educational symbols on the verandas of our early childhood classrooms. This is additional to the $18 500 donated earlier in the year. A huge effort. Thank you!

REPORTING TO PARENTSREPORTING TO PARENTS
The Department’s Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting K-10 Policy and Guidelines states that schools will ‘report regular and relevant information to par-ents / caregivers on student progress and achievement’. As part of this process, we will be emailing student’s 2017 final reports on Wednesday 13 December.
Please ensure the school has your current email address.
Students in Kindergarten to Year 6 will be reported on using the Department of Education’s endorsed templates. This is a change for this semester’s report for Kindergarten students. Please contact your classroom teacher for further clarification if required.
You can ask the school to provide you with written information that clearly shows your child’s achievements in the subjects studied in comparison with that of other students in the student’s peer group at school. This information will show the number of students in each of the five achievement levels. You should contact the school to access this additional information. SUPPORTING OUR ENVIRONMENTSUPPORTING OUR ENVIRONMENT
Our CO2&U Team would like to let our school community know that the $522.65 raised at the free dress fundraiser at the end of Term 3 has been donated to the Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise. This group raises the awareness of the critically endangered status of Australia’s rarest reptile through education, fieldwork and revegetation. INDONESIAN COOKING CINDONESIAN COOKING CLASS & VISITOR FROM LASS & VISITOR FROM BALIBALI
This week the Year 5 classes had lessons in Indonesian cooking. During these lessons, students not only learnt the Indonesian language but also had a taste of Indonesian cuisine. The cooking lessons help support the continuing educational Indonesian program in the school. It will also assist and encourage students to appreciate the Indonesian culture and provide them with instant insight into the diversity of Indonesia and the Indonesian cuisine. The students learnt to make ‘Lumpia’ or spring rolls. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves rolling and folding the spring rolls. However they had more fun dipping the lumpia in sweet chilli sauce and eating them! Some of the staff had the privilege of sampling the delicious spring rolls made by the students too. The students were also fortunate to have Made Mesy Dwimantari come all the way from our sister school in Bali for a week on an Adopt-A-School Association scholarship. Made Mesy is an English teacher and she had the chance to spend her time with the Kindy, Pre-Primary, Year 1 and 2 classes to learn and experience how to teach English in the classrooms. Then on the last day, she spent her time exposing the students to many cultural activities such as cultural dance, how to wear sarong, making ‘kipas’ or fan and so forth. The students also benefited from the exposure of a native Indonesian speaker. I would like to thank the teachers involved, Mrs Kim Collins, Mrs Emma Hoskins, Mrs Liz Palfreyman and Mrs Aimee Davies for having Made Mesy in their classrooms. A special thank you to the McLaren family for hosting Mesy and getting her to experience the Australian culture and improve on her English as well. Hopefully Mesy had a wonderful time and an experience of a lifetime. Prepared by, Ibu Yang (Language Specialist – Indonesian)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UPHYSICAL EDUCATION UPDATEPDATE
On Friday 10 November the Year 6 students travelled to Coolamon oval to participate in the annual EISA Network “Have a go carnival”. The carnival is solely for Year 6 students and is primarily about children having the opportunity to experience and take part in several different sporting activities. Additionally, it is used as a stepping stone for students to begin their transition into high school by interacting with other Year 6 students in the area. The warm spring day was a success and the student’s behaviour, participation and efforts were fantastic. Many of our year 6 students met new friends from other network schools who they will transition with onto high school. Congratulations to all involved and a big thankyou to our wonderful helpers.
Term 4 has been yet another very busy term in Physical Education. Students have been exposed to new sports such as lacrosse and gymnastics over a four-week period. A big thank you to Lacrosse WA and Spirit gym sports for all your wonderful assistance this Term.
Finally a very large thank you for all your support of the physical education program in 2017.

Hello Parents, Carers and the Aveley Primary School Community, Thank you to everyone who attend the P and C meeting held last Monday, 20 November. It was lovely to see some new faces. At this meeting we managed to fulfill most of the teachers wish list with our fundraising efforts from the year. This meeting was also the last general meeting of the year. Our next meeting is on Monday, 5 February which is our AGM. All positions will be declared vacant so please come along if you are thinking about joining our wonderful members and can offer your time and expertise, no matter how small. Thank to all our volunteers who have staffed the canteen this year. The canteen has been incredible well supported by students and staff at the school. As an end of term treat we will be offering jelly cups with a chocolate frog for $1.00 to accompany the children's lunches. Once again, we wish to thank all members of the school community for their support this year and look forward to another successful year in 2018. Your Aveley P&C committee [email protected]
