STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENTS
Ms. Sai sree, Ms.Amrita Gautham and Usha sree Represented Department of Zoology
and secured first prize in Science Quiz competition on the occasion of “National Science
Day Celebrations” conducted by the Osmania University on 26th February 2019
Amrita Goutam of BZC III Yr represented Department of Zoology and won the
consolation prize in JAM event of Scientia National science day celebrations organized
by Department of Chemistry University College of Science-O.U on 26/2/2019
Dr.R.K.Devi Participated and Presented a paper on “An analytical study of Incidence of
Toxoplasmosis in pregnant Women”, Study was made in a 500 bedded hospital in
Bhubaneswar, in a two day “National seminar on Food Safety, Quality and policy”.
Organized by Department of Microbiology Government Degree College Gajwel, Siddipet
District. On 28,29th June 2018

Guest lecture by Dr. Jyothi Lakshmi

On 16-3-2019 at 2.00 pm Dr.Jyothi Lakshmi gave a power point presentation on Antigen-
Antibody reactions to the final year students.
Under innovative teaching practices all the final year students of 2018-19 batch
attended the seminar and learnt the various Laboratory techniques Implemented in
Immunology.
Students clarified the doubts in the subject.
Guest lecture by Dr. Advaith
Ophthalmologist, Sai Jyothi Opticals, West Marredpally
Venue: Zoology Lab, K.G.C.W
On 20-3-2019 Dr. Advaith Ophthalmologist gave a power point presentation in Zoology
lab on the Eye care for adolescent students.
Students clarified their doubts regarding the “Myths and Mis-conceptions about Laser
treatment for hyper metropia”.
Two day National seminar on Health, Hygiene and Sanitation
Student Paper presentation on 26th & 27th April 2019

Little flower Degree college organized a two day national seminar on health, Hygiene
and sanitation on 26th and 27th April 2019 in their college premises.
BZC final year students Amrita Gautham and Saisree presented a paper under the
guidance of Dr.R.K.Devi on “Water conservation and vector borne Diseases prevalent in
the Catchment area of urban slum in lothukunta”.
A proper survey with questionnaire was made on 25 houses in the area and abstract
was prepared. Full length paper was prepared for the same and submitted to the
College. A PPT of 20 slides was prepared with histograms for presentation.

Eye camp
On 20-3-2019 a free Eye camp conducted by Sai jyothi optical West Marredpally in the
Department of Zoology for Teaching, Non-teaching and students of Kasturba Gandhi
Degree &P.G college for Women. Dr. Dayamayi Principal of the college inaugurated the
camp at 10:00 am.
About 200 members got benefited by the camp.
Bioclub Activity
Exhibition of Animal Byproducts
Venue: Zoology Lab, Date: 20-4-2019 at 1:00 pm.
Staff and students of Zoology Department
About 45 students participated and explained about 20 byproducts of animals
The program inaugurated by Principal of the college Ms. Sunitha.
Bhavani explained about the corals, their formation and why they are on verge of
extension.
Ms.Afreen explained about the byproducts of honey bee.
Vinaya sree explaining about Red carmine
Ambika explained about byproducts of Silkworm and about “Ahimsa silk”.
Ushasree explained about Transgenic sheep and its byproducts.
Kalyani, Sravanthi gave awareness about Cod-liver oil “A byproduct of Fish”.
Shivani and Vishnavi explained about silky milky saga-Fiber which is stronger than a
steel.
Pravalika gave detailed explanation about Pearl formation and differences between
Artificial and Natural pearl.
Spandana and Nandini explained regarding the Cow byproducts.
Jyothi and Sravanthi explained about perfumes which are byproducts of Musk deer.
Muba shareena gave information regarding the leather products and how they are
prepared from the skin of animals.
About 100 students and 30 faculty members visited the Exhibition of Animal byproducts
and gave excellent feedback.
Assembly
Department of Zoology conducted assembly proceedings on 11-09-2018. The highlights
of the assembly are:
Spandana and Laxmi madhuri explained the prediction of weather forecasting by
animals. Animals do have instinct ability of sensing weather changes.
Shivani shukla gave awareness of Eco-Friendly Ganesha.
Vinaya sree explained about Science behind Indian tradition and culture.
Significance of Ganesha briefed by Vaishnavi.
