“Asthma Awareness Programme” - ESIC 61st year celebration

(Dept of Pulmonary Medicine)

Since, we are celebrating 61st year of dedicated service of ESI Corporation

(2012-13) we organised a programme on “ Asthma Education Awareness Programme”

on 8/03/2013 in the department of Pulmonary Medicine, OPD Block on second floor.

About 20-25 Patients were present for the programme. Faculty members from

the Department Dr. Ivona Lobo, Dr. Vijay Salve, Dr. Snehal Jadhav , Senior Residents

and Postgraduate students were present. Various aspects of asthma , such as different

trigger factors for asthma, preventive strategies , environment control, allergy ,smoking

and indoor pollution and myths about asthma etc were emphasised by Dr. Arif ,First

year Post graduate Student in Pulmonary Medicine, and Dr. Vijay Salve , Associate

Professor department of Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Ivona Lobo professor , Department

of Pulmonary medicine replied to the queries asked by patients .

Video representing Asthma Control was displayed. Demonstration of various

Inhaler Devices, DPI’s, spacers etc were also demonstrated. Tea and Biscuits were

provided to the patients on conlusion of programme.

World TB Day (24/03/2013) was celebrated on 28/03/2013 in the Department

of Pulmonary medicine ESIPGIMSR-MGM Hospital, Parel, Mumbai.

“STOP the Spread of the disease”.-was the theme of this year’s World TB

Day. All Faculty members Dr. Ivona Lobo (Prof.), Dr. Vijay Salve (Assoc. Prof.),

Dr.Snehel Jadhav (Asst. Prof.) were present for the programme. All Senior Residents,

PG students attended the programme. Importance of inhibiting spitting in public places,

Covering face by handkerchief while coughing, Treatment completion and other

important issues were highlighted by Dr.Umesh Rayte (Senior Resident),Dr. Vijay

Salve, Dr. Ivona Lobo. Health Visitor shared her experience in the field. She also

highlighted on different misconcepts and myths about the disease. About twenty

patients were present for the programme. Two patients shared their experiences about

the treatment.
