PAYTM TO INVEST RS 1,000 CRORE TO REVIVE E-COMMERCE BUSINESS

Paytm is making a fresh attempt to build its online marketplace business with plans

to invest Rs 800-1,000 crore in the newly separated commerce entity as it fights out

formidable rivals in a cash-guzzling online retail market. The digital payments and

commerce company recently scooped up Rs 400 crore in a round led by Taiwanese chip

maker Mediatek, and is also in the midst of raising another Rs 1,600 crore.

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma told TOI in an interaction that the company,

for now, will fully allocate the new capital into its payments bank business with plans afoot

to kick-start. Paytm closed last year with a gross merchandise value, or GMV, of about $3

billion with more than 60% of that coming from its core payments business. GMV is the

overall sales done on a platform and doesn't include discounts and returns.

The offline-to-online (o2o) business where sell tickets for cinema, offer bookings for hotels

and buses, facilitate payment of education fees will also play a crucial role going ahead

because leverage the user base for commerce and o2o businesses. Paytm claimed transactions

from o2o vertical have been growing significantly to earn the management's confidence to

    invest further.

SEVEN TELCOS SUBMIT RS 15,000 CRORE AND EARNEST MONEY FOR SPECTRUM AUCTION

In a seemingly tepid build-up to the upcoming spectrum sale, due on October 1, seven

mobile operators are said to have deposited earnest money of about Rs 15,000 crore, lower

than the previous year's Rs 20,435 crore. The cumulative EMD (earnest money deposit)

submitted by seven telecom operators is about Rs 15,000.

Reliance Jio has deposited the highest guarantee of nearly Rs 6,500 crore while

Vodafone has submitted an EMD of about Rs 2,800 crore.Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel are

understood to have submitted about Rs 2,000 crore and 1,900 crore, respectively, ahead of the

auction where airwaves worth Rs 5.63 lakh crore will go under the hammer. The balance has

been submitted by Tata Teleservices, RCom and Aircel. EMD is indicative of a company's

strategy to bid in specific circles and spectrum bands. It gives them eligibility points with

    regard to those circles.

This time, mobile frequencies in all bands 700 Mhz, 800 Mhz, 900 Mhz, 1800 Mhz,

2100 Mhz and 2300 Mhz will be put on the block in the upcoming auction. All the radio

waves being put up for auction can be used for high-speed 4G services. This is the first time

the government will auction premium airwaves in the 700 Mhz band. This is considered as

the most premium as the cost of providing service is one-third of 3G under the 2100 Mhz

    band.

ORACLE'S SHARES FALL AS PROFIT FORECAST

Oracle forecast lower-than-expected quarterly profit as growth in its cloud-based

business fails to make up for weakness in its traditional software offerings. The company's

shares fell nearly 2.7% in extended trading.Like rivals SAP SE, Amazon.com Inc and

Microsoft Corp, Oracle is making an aggressive shift to the cloud as customers increasingly

shun the costlier licensing model. The company agreed to buy NetSuite Inc for $9.3 billion to

better compete with nimbler rivals such as Workday Inc and Salesforce.com Inc that

specialize in cloud-based offerings. Total cloud revenue rose 59% to $969 million in the first

    quarter.

The company's traditional software business, which offers higher margins, continued

to suffer. Sales of new software licenses fell 10.5 percent to $1.03 billion. For the second

quarter, the company said it expected adjusted earnings of 59 cents to 62 cents per share and

revenue growth of up to 3%. The company had reported revenue of about $9 billion for the

    same period a year earlier.

The company said its latest quarter was also weighed down by a strong dollar, which

reduced revenue from various businesses by 1-3%.Total revenue edged up 1.7% to $8.6

billion. However, it rose 3% on a constant currency basis.Oracle's net income rose to $1.83

billion, or 43 cents per share, from $1.75 billion, or 40 cents per share.

INTEL INCREASES REVENUE FORECAST AS PC SALES IMPROVE

Intel raised its quarterly revenue forecast for the first time in more than two years,

citing improving demand for personal computers. The company's shares rose as much as

4.1% to a more than 15-year high of $38.05 in early trading. Shares of rivals Advanced Micro

Devices Inc and Micron Technology Inc were up about 2%. Intel, the world's largest

chipmaker, has been struggling as tech users shift away from PCs to mobile phones for their

computing needs. Sales in the company's PC business, which also includes chips for mobile

phones and tablets, declined 3% to $7.3 billion in the latest quarter.

However, global PC shipments fell less than expected in the second quarter, helped by

strength in the United States, according to research firm IDC. Intel expected third-quarter

revenue to be $15.6 billion, plus or minus $300 million, compared with its prior forecast of

$14.9 billion, plus or minus $500 million. The company also raised the mid-point of its gross

margin forecast for the current quarter to 62%, plus or minus a couple of points, up 2 points

from its prior forecast. Intel last increased its quarterly forecast for the second quarter of

2014.The company is scheduled to report third-quarter results on October.

ALL INDIA RADIO LAUNCHES WEBSITE AND APP

Baluchi-speaking people in the Af-Pak region and other parts of the world can now

tune into AIR broadcast in the language through computers and mobile phones as India's

public broadcaster today launched multimedia webpage and mobile app of the service. Prasar

Bharati chairperson A Surya Prakash, who launched the mobile app and the webpage, said

the move is part of India's efforts to reach out to the neighbourhood for better people-to-

people contact. Prasar Bharati officials said the mobile app and the webpage were just value

addition as Baluchi service of the AIR has been in existence since 1974. There are several

languages in which services are broadcasted by the AIR.

As the world's largest democracy, we have the responsibility to disseminate news and

information across the world which is factual and correct. Asked if AIR's services could face

obstruction in Pakistan given the prevailing situation, AIR DGF Shehryar said the radio

service is on the short-wave which cannot be blocked. AIR's Baluchi service had been very

popular but it was now facing competition from some other broadcasters but AIR has a lot of

goodwill among Baluchi people, who have an emotional attachment and consider it an

    authentic source of information.

APPLE, SAMSUNG STRUGGLE IN CHINA AMID LOCAL COMPETITION

The global launch of the iPhone 7 is crucial to Apple's fortunes in China, but both it

and its biggest rival Samsung, hit by a recall over exploding batteries, are struggling in the

face of upstart local competitors. The US and South Korean firms were relegated to fourth

and fifth place respectively in the Asian giant's smartphone market in the first half of this

year, according to consultancy Canalys. Ahead of them came three Chinese firms, leader

Huawei with a 16% share, then two companies little known elsewhere, Vivo and Oppo.

Apple faces a lot of challenges and pressures" in China from local manufacturers who are

"developing medium- to high-end handsets and offer a lot of flagship products", said Canalys

    China analyst Jessie Ding.

    .

The iPhone 7 which comes with an improved camera, a water resistant body and

minus an earphone jack doesn't have many innovative features pointing out that its double

camera function was available on a Huawei smartphone six months ago, and it lacks wireless

charging capabilities . For its part, Samsung had to recall 2.5 million of its flagship Galaxy

Note 7 handsets after faulty batteries caused some to explode during charging. The company

has handled the issue badly, with slow decision-making, poor communications and a lack of

coordination, and its image risks suffering.

NINTENDO IS MOST TALKED ABOUT AT TOKYO GAME SHOW

Tokyo Game Show is one of the world's biggest draws for gamers and developers, but

the talk amid the virtual reality headsets and robot arms is of the industry giant. The Japanese

firm, conservative and rarely unpredictable, has twice caught the industry by surprise. A

wildly successful augmented reality smartphone game. Nintendo's best-known game creator,

Shigeru Miyamoto, announced the firm's first on-the-go game starring the popular Super

Mario character. It was a rare public splash, and gamers in Tokyo read Miyamoto's guest

Apple appearance as a sign that executives in Nintendo's spartan offices in Kyoto might

finally be catching up with the zeitgeist - tapping a treasure trove of popular characters and

    consumers' love of smartphones.

Super Mario's short hop to Apple devices is a big leap for Nintendo, unshackling the

much-loved moustachioed cartoon plumber from the Japanese company's dogged resistance

to the mobile world.Nintendo has long held out against offering its games for mobile devices,

preferring to keep them coupled to its Wii console business. But Wii sales have slowed from

over 100 million devices in its first five years to just 13 million in the past five and Nintendo

is finally acknowledging that mobiles matter. "Gaming Deity" Gamers and game developers

say Miyamoto, 63 and often dubbed the "Walt Disney of video games", is key to Nintendo's

shift. Miyamoto is not a conventional game maker, he wants to create family

entertainment.Mario is the jewel in Nintendo's crown.

BAIDU PERMITTED TO TEST SELF-DRIVING CARS IN CALIFORNIA

China based internet company Baidu has received a permit to test its self-driving cars

in California from the state's Department of Motor Vehicles, as the race to introduce

driverless automobiles accelerates. Baidu, which unveiled its autonomous vehicle in China

last December and has been steadily increasing its investments and partnerships in the sector,

has already tested on Chinese roads and highways. California is seen as a crucial testing

ground for autonomous vehicles due to technological innovations being developed in Silicon

Valley, where many car companies and start-ups operate research labs to develop self-driving

technology. Being able to do road tests will greatly accelerate our progress. Baidu opened an

office in Silicon Valley and said it plans to have over 100 researchers and engineers working

    there by year's end.

With its California DMV permit, Baidu becomes the 15th company to receive

approval from the state. Others with the permit include traditional automakers such as

Volkswagen and Ford Motor Co, as well as technology firms including Alphabet's Google,

and Chinese electric vehicle start-up Faraday Future. In August, both Baidu and Ford jointly

invested $150 million in Velodyne, a Silicon Valley maker of laser-based sensors that are a

key building block for self-driving cars.

WHAT GOOGLE HAS TO SAY ABOUT BLURRING COW'S FACE IN SEARCH

A cow that had its face blurred by Google Street View has gone viral on social media,

prompting the internet giant to say its face-blurring technology had been "a little

overzealous". The cow was snapped by Google's cameras at Coe Fen, Cambridge, and

seemingly given the same treatment humans receive for privacy reasons.

The cow's face can clearly be seen grazing near the River Cam on an image taken

slightly further away, but Google seems to have blurred it for a close-up view. Google's

Street View launched in 2007 and received widespread media coverage as cars mounted with

cameras mapped streets around the world.

To help combat privacy concerns, software is used to automatically blur human faces.

It has also been reported by the Cambridge News and national media in Britian. So far the

tweet has been liked more than 12,000 times. A spokesman for Google said We thought you

were pulling the udder one when we herd the moos, but it's clear that our automatic face-

blurring technology has been a little overzealous.

BSNL COMES TO RELIANCE JIO'S RESCUE, TO OFFER MORE INTERCONNECT POINTS

    .

Amid simmering tension and ongoing parleys between new entrant and private

incumbent operators over connectivity, state-owned telecom firm BSNL has said it has

provided "sufficient points of interconnect" to Reliance Jio and can augment it more based on

requirement. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) told that there has been no fresh request

from Jio for increasing the capacity at points of interconnects. We have provided sufficient

points of interconnect to Jio. While Jio is providing voice calls free of cost, whenever those

calls land into BSNL network, we get interconnectivity charge of 14 paise, so it makes

commercial sense for us. Interconnection between telecom networks is crucial as it enables

mobile users to make calls to subscribers of other operator. A mobile operator levies

interconnection usage charge for each incoming call it gets from a subscriber of another

network. State-run BSNL today said it will soon launch a promotional unlimited wireline

broadband plan that effectively translates into less than Re 1 per GB download cost for

subscribers if they use up to 300GB data in a month.

We have provided PoI in all state headquarters for Jio in 20 locations at least PoIs

have been provided for Jio and other operators. At present, BSNL's market share is pegged at

8.65% of the wireless subscriber base. Reliance Jio, which commercially launched services

on September 5, has accused the existing players of not releasing sufficient ports on their

networks, thereby leading to a situation where 75 of its calls are failing, out of every 100 call

    attempts

WORLDWIDE SMARTWATCH MARKET TO SEE MODEST GROWTH IN 2016

Almost a year after the launch of Apple Watch established a new benchmark for the

worldwide smartwatch market, new smartwatch shipments are expected to see only modest

growth for the rest of 2016. According to a new forecast from the International Data

Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker, total smartwatch

shipments will reach 20.1 million units in 2016, an increase of 3.9% from the 19.4 million

units shipped. IDC categorizes smartwatches as those that can run third-party applications

and are part of IDC's larger category of smart wearable devices, which also include smart

glasses and certain wristbands. The research company expects total smartwearable volumes

to reach 21.5 million units shipped in 2016. By volume, smartwatches account for the largest

part of the category, and are expected to reach a total value of $17.8 billion dollars in 2020.

Smartwatches have remained in the realm of brand loyalists and tech cognoscenti.

First, smartwatches will look and feel like traditional watches, appealing to those who put a

premium and design and style. Second, once the smartwatches get cellular connectivity, they

will disconnect from the smartphone, making them more useful. Third, smartwatch

applications will build on this cellular connection, and connect with other devices within the

home and at work. Finally, smartwatch prices will come down, making them more affordable

    to a broader market..

DISRUPTION IN SIGHT, INDIAN IT SELLS AUTOMATION

Companies are looking at ways to incentivize their sales forces to sell automation.

Indian IT companies are looking at ways to incentivize their sales forces to sell automation

even when it cannibalizes their own revenue, as they focus on disrupting themselves before

someone else does it. Sales executives have typically been rewarded based on the size of the

deals they bring in and, to a smaller extent, the gross margin of those deals. But the fear that

other players will swoop in with lower prices due to automation is forcing IT companies to

provide automation themselves and look to boost the profitability of the deals and the way

    their top sales executives perform.

Growth in the $160-billion Indian IT sector has slowed over the past few years, with

projected growth rates reaching levels last seen in the aftermath of the financial crisis.

Nasscom has projected a 10-12% revenue growth for the industry a target which many

analysts say will be hard to meet. And now, even larger IT companies like Infosys and HCL

Technologies are looking at incentivizing their sales forces to sell their automation offerings.

Infosys, which had focused its automation efforts on fixed-price contracts, is moving its

sights to even time-material contracts and on-site employees. Automating time and material

would have an immediate impact to the top-line though the company hopes to offset that by

    using more profitable platforms.

RELIANCE JIO SEEKS ACTION AGAINST MAJOR TELCOS FOR VIOLATING MNP RULES AND WIFI RULES

The battle between Reliance Jio Infocomm and Indian telecom's big three incumbents

over carrying traffic across networks may appear to be subsiding, but differences over

number portability and public WiFi keep the tensions still simmering in the industry. Jio has

accused Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular of rejecting almost all requests by

customers to port their numbers to the Jio network, and urged the sector regulator to impose

financial disincentives on them. Calling the purported action of the incumbents a "blatant

disregard" to licence conditions, it sought revocation of their licenses if they continue to deny

mobile number portability. The regulator must direct the dominant incumbent operators to

comply with the licensee terms and obligations.

ET has seen a copy of the letter Bharti and Vodafone denied the charges. A Bharti

spokesperson said the company was meeting all MNP requests as per guidelines while

Vodafone said it allowed all requests to port to Jio. The two warring sides have also taken

strongly conflicting positions on Trai's discussion paper on boosting broadband penetration

through low-cost WiFi in public places. Jio and the Cellular Operators Association of India

(COAI), the industry body representing Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, have differed on a host of

issues, including the core objectives of the WiFi technology and the need to de-licence more

spectrum for WiFi services. The regulator last week nudged the two sides to resolve issues

around points of interconnect, one of the major reasons for the tension between the two sides.

SILICON VALLEY 3D PRINTING STARTUP CARBON SECURES $81 MILLION IN FUNDING

Carbon, a Silicon Valley startup that is developing 3D printers to produce medical

devices and car parts on demand, it had closed on $81 million in funding that brought the

total it has raised to $222 million.Founded in 2013, Carbon said the funding round was led by

automaker BMW Group, industrial conglomerate General Electric Co, optics and imaging

products company Nikon Corp and chemical manufacturer JSR Corp. They joined earlier

investors Google Ventures and top tech venture capital firm Sequoia. A team of engineers

has used light to print 3D structures that "remember" their original shapes even after being

stretched, twisted and bent at extreme angles. The company's first commercial 3D printer, the

M1, is available for a $40,000 annual subscription. It uses software that controls a

photochemical process that balances the way ultraviolet light and oxygen react within a pool

of polymer resin to print plastic objects.

Carbon has developed various resins to diversify what can be printed. It uses heat-

resistant hard resins for exterior automotive parts and soft elastic biodegradable resins for

medical devices like heart stents. The company says it can print up to 100 times faster than

rival 3D printing companies. That would be a selling point to the manufacturing industry,

which until now used 3D printing primarily as a prototyping tool.

Xiaomi Mi 5c, which is now believed to be named the Xiaomi Meri. The latest leaks

show the device scores on Geekbench and Antutu (via PhoneArena). The devices was tested

twice on Geekbench, and showed a score of 758 on signle-core both times. The multi-core

scores were 3105 and 3043. On Geekbench, the Xiaomi Meri is said to come equipped with a

1.4GHz octa-core processor and 3GB RAM. Android 6.0 will come pre-installed. On Antutu,

the Xiaomi Meri scored 63,581, which isn’t really what high-end devices these days are

scoring. The Antutu test revealed the Meri with 5.1-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels of

resolution, Mali-T864 GPU and according to PhoneArena, there could be a Rockchip SoC

featuring four Cortex-A53 clocked at maximum 2.2GHz, and Cortex-A53 at 1.4GHz.

Unlike the Mi 5s launched in China, Xiaomi’s Meri will be a mid range device. So, if

reports are believed, then one shouldn’t expect the Under the Glass fingerprint scanner, but

the device will come with dual SIM, 4G LTE and VoLTE support. On the other hand, the

recently launched Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus come with Snapdragon 821 SoC and Adreno

530 GPU. Both phones boast of support for 4G+ 3x CA (which can give transfer speeds in

Nearly 100 customers of e-wallet FreeCharge lost Rs 8,000- Rs 10,000 across the

Phishing is an attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and

    official trusted entity.

FreeCharge acknowledged that its customers lost their money as a result of a

FreeCharge stating that eight of its customers had lost money totalling to Rs 77,000.

FreeCharge, which has 37 million customer accounts. The attackers, in the first instance

transferred money to bank accounts. Then they started using the account to purchase items

across different websites, including Snapdeal, ClearTrip and Vodafone, where FreeCharge

wallets are accepted.Users of e-wallets say that these companies provide no redressal

mechanism, especially when they need to be contacted on an urgent basis. While the e-wallet

in question sent automated messages to customers within a few minutes, that is not as

effective as banks freezing accounts real-time, when we report debit card loss.

SCIENTISTS DEVELOP SUPERCOMPUTER THAT CAN SAVE GALLONS OF WATER

Scientists have developed a prototype cooling system for supercomputer data centres

which they claim could save hundreds of millions of gallons of water if widely adopted. The

system, developed by researchers at Sandia National Laboratories in the US, called the

Thermosyphon Cooler Hybrid System cools like a refrigerator without the expense and

energy needs of a compressor. The prototype method uses a liquid refrigerant instead of

water to carry away heat. The water heated by the computing centre is pumped within a

closed system into proximity with another system containing refrigerant. The refrigerant

absorbs heat from the water so that the water, now cooled, can circulate to cool again.

Meanwhile the heated refrigerant vaporizes and rises in its closed system to exchange heat

    with the atmosphere.

As heat is removed from the refrigerant, it condenses and sinks to absorb more heat,

and the cycle repeats. Currently, many data centres use water to remove waste heat from

servers. The warmed water is piped to cooling towers, where a separate stream of water is

turned to mist and evaporates into the atmosphere. Like sweat evaporating from the body, the

process removes heat from the piped water, which returns to chill the installation. But large-

scale replenishment of the evaporated water is needed to continue the process.

RESEARCHERS DEVELOP JOYSTICK STYLE INTERFACE FOR SMARTWATCH

A team of researchers has developed a smartwatch prototype that uses the wrist

wearing the watch as an always-available joystick to perform touchscreen gestures with one-

handed continuous input. Checking email, tracking fitness and listening to music, are just a

few things that a smartwatch can do but what if your hands aren’t free WristWhirl is the

    answer.

To develop the WristWhirl prototype, researchers investigated the biomechanical

ability of the wrist by tasking a small group of participants to conduct eight joystick-like

gestures while standing and walking. Participants wore the watch on their left wrist and were

asked to use their wrist to make four directional marks similar to flicking a touch screen, and

four free-form shapes, such as a triangle.

They were asked to make these gestures with their hand-up in front of their body

during which they could see the gesture being drawn on the watch’s screen, and with their

hand-down alongside their body. They were able to make directional marks at an average

rate of half a second and free-form shapes at an average rate of approximately 1.5

seconds. WristWhirl was built from a 2-inch TFT display and a plastic watch strap

augmented with 12 infrared proximity sensors and a Piezo vibration sensor placed inside the

    wrist strap.

FACEBOOK SIGNS CONTROVERSIAL EU PRIVACY SHIELD TREATY AFTER GOOGLE AND MICROSOFT

Social networking giant Facebook has agreed to adopt a new European Union (EU)

data accord that allows personal information to be transferred to the US, potentially sparking

yet another privacy row, the media reported. Facebook has quietly signed the Privacy Shield

a controversial treaty that allows US technology companies to transfer EU citizens’ details

    abroad.

Privacy Shield, a replacement deal that was designed to provide extra safeguards for

Europeans, came into force in July. Google and Microsoft have already adopted the

treaty. Facebook signed up at the end of September, although only two aspects of the social

network use it. The first is Workplace, a special version of Facebook that allows company

employees to communicate, which was launched last week. The other is its “Ads and

Measurement” technology that uses customer data supplied by other companies to target

    adverts.

Facebook’s adoption of the treaty is significant because the prior US-EU agreement,

Safe Harbour which was abolished by the European Court of Justice as a direct result of legal

action against the social network by privacy campaigners. However, it is likely to lead to

further scrutiny of the Privacy Shield deal from Facebook’s critics, the report stated.

AFTER MICROSOFT, HUAWEI POKES FUN AT APPLE

Microsoft recently took a dig at Apple, comparing its Surface Pro 4 hybrid tablet with

the iPad Pro in a video. The video saw the iPad Pro 'repeating' that it has got a keyboard and

has become a computer, even as the Surface Pro 4 talked about its processor, apps and more.

And now, Huawei too has joined the party and posted a similar mocking video on YouTube,

comparing the iPad Pro with its own MateBook. The 30-second YouTube video continues on

the same theme as the Surface Pro 4 vs iPad Pro video. It shows all three devices talking side

by side, with the Huawei MateBook congratulating the iPad Pro for the new keyboard. The 2-

in-1 device then adds that it has got a fingerprint sensor on the side and a stylus, going further

to say that it's powered by a 6th-gen Intel Core processor and is lighter than the iPad Pro. The

Surface Pro 4 then says that the MateBook also runs Windows 10 OS.

Huawei unveiled its MateBook at MWC 2016, starting at $699. The company

offers the MateBook in six hardware configurations - Core M3/4GB RAM/128GB SSD for

    $699 or 256GB SSD for $849, Core M5/8GB RAM/ 256GB SSD for $999 or 512GB SSD

    for $1,999 and Core M7/8GB RAM/256GB SSD for 1,399 or 512GB SSD for $1,599.

Huawei has also introduced accessories for the device, including a keyboard for $129,

IPHONE 7 PLUS TEARDOWN REVEALS BAROMETRIC VENT INSTEAD OF AUDIO JACK

Apple always keeps certain key specifications and details of its iPhone smartphones a

secret, for unknown reasons. But as is the case almost every year, teardown videos surface

online shortly after the new iPhones are launched, giving an idea of the hardware

specifications like battery capacity, RAM and more. This year is no different either.

The iPhone 7 Plus to be largely the same as its predecessors. However, there are some

changes seen in the processor placement. The teardown video also gives an in-depth look at

the new Taptic Engine and talks about the battery capacity, RAM and a new barometric vent

that is now placed where the headphone jack used to be. The barometric vent in the iPhone 7

Plus is claimed to have been included for accurately measuring altitudes, despite the

waterproofing materials used in the device. Apple says that iPhone 7 devices can measure

minor altitude changes in instances such as when a user climbs the stairs, as per The Verge

website. As for the Taptic Engine, it's placed right above the barometric vent. It vibrates

when the user hard presses Home button and gives the feedback of a real click. It can also

provide different types of tactile feedback. The iPhone 7 Plus teardown further reveals the

device having a 2,900mAh battery, which is a slight upgrade over the 2,750mAh cell of the

iPhone 6s Plus. Apple claims that the iPhone 7 Plus runs for an hour longer than the iPhone
