DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY ANDHRA UNIVERSITY, VISAKHAPATNAM, AP, INDIA National Workshop (Online) on “Recent Advances in Biological Sciences - Techniques and Bioinformatics” (RABSTB-2020) 23 rd - 24 th June 2020 Department Profile Established in the year 1971, has witnessed the unparelled transformation to meet the requirements with the ongoing scientific advancements in the field of protease inhibitors of high economic value, bioprospecting of bioactive compounds, enzymes, plant secondary metabolites through in vitro cultures etc. Additionally, intensive research in the field of Cell and Molecular Biology, Immunology and Nanotechnology led to the identification of a few immunomodulators and nanomaterials with physiological significance. Based on the performance of the department over the years, it has been recognized with financial assistance by DST- FIST and UGC- SAP. Scope of the workshop This workshop provides active interaction between research groups, teachers and student participants and discusses the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. More emphasis has been given on the participation of students and teachers belonging to various interdisciplinary areas of biology so that an integrated domain can be deciphered.
