Greetings!!!

Very Happy to convey that Our Department - Electronics and Instrumentation

Engineering is strengthening our steps towards Excellence in this month also

as usual through number of activities to enrich the technical knowledge of the

students, to develop new skill sets, to prepare them as Industry-ready Professionals and to create

interest in research too.

In this April month, Our department organized 4 core teaching sessions to enrich the knowledge in

subjects; 4 Journal Club sessions to nurture the research culture in students; 7 Contests through

Professional Society and EIE Student Society to provide a platform to showcase their creativity and

talents; 3 Career Guidance Programs, 4 Placement Training Programs and 2 Entrepreneur Guidance

Programs to guide them for successful future.

Our Department is regularly organizing EIE Staff Technical Forum Session every week and 3 such sessions

were organized in this month to share the knowledge among faculty members.

We continue to guide and motivate School and Polytechnic College students through our outreach

programs and 4 such programs were organized successfully in this month.

We are encouraged with the achievement records of EIE Students and Faculty members.

I appreciate the Dynamic Team of EIE both with Faculty members and students for taking all these

fruitful efforts even in this pandemic situation and we will continue with our firm steps so that all our

dreams and goals will be transformed into achievements and success.

CORE TEACHING – EXPERT TALKS

Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is regularly organising Core

Teaching – Expert Talk on Subject topics to keep the students updated with the applications

and latest trends in the field. The following are the events organised in April 2021.

Engineering organized Core teaching Expert Talk

on Developing Application Using LABVIEW by

Mr.T.Balaji, Application Engineer, Optithought,

Chennai, for the subject ‘Electronic Instrumentation’ for Third Year EIE students on

10.04.2021.

The expert talk covers the Introduction of LabView,

it's application and Interfacing. The resource

person also explained how to design and develop

application using LabVIEW.

Instrumentation Systems for Third Year EIE

students on 17.4.2021.

The expert speaker demonstrated how different

symbols and codes are used in PI&D, specifically

in pressure and flow control loops through the

documentation sheet used in Biogas and LPG

plants. He also explained the usage of Industrial

standard ANSI- ISA 5.1- 2009 in automation

industries.

Networks on Congestion Control and Resource

Allocation by Mr.M.K.Kumaresan, Network

Consultant, Cisco India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore for

Third year EIE students on 20.4.2021.

His talk focussed on various topics like Issues in

Resource Allocation, Queuing Disciplines, TCP

Congestion Control, Congestion Avoidance

Mechanism and Quality of Service. He highlighted

various practical applications of these concepts.

He also shared information on various certification

courses and placement opportunities available in

networking field.

for Third year EIE students on 28.4.2021.

The guest speaker mainly focused on PLC and

SCADA in Industrial Automation with Industrial

applications of IoT. He highlighted various

software for PLC programming. He also put a

light on placement opportunities in Automation

field.

EIE Students are members of International Society for Automation (ISA). Technical

Programmes and Contests are conducted regularly under the banner of ISA for skill

development and strengthening technical knowledge.

PITCH PERFECT

The Department of Electronics and

Instrumentation Engineering of Easwari

Engineering College under the banner of

International Society of Automation (ISA)

organised a Technical Photo Contest - PITCH

PERFECT on 29.03.2021 for students from all

departments.

Students from EIE, Civil and Mechanical

Engineering participated.

The participants presented PPT on the innovative

technology through photo captured in industries

by them directly.

The Judges for the contest interacted with

students and shared important tips.

The contest was very much appreciated by the

participants and the audience.

The department of EIE of Easwari Engineering College under the banner of International Society of

Automation (ISA) organised a Technical Contest - INSTRU INTRO on 12.04.2021 for EIE students.

The students made the session interesting by presenting the scope of Instrumentation, Uniqueness of

the course and expressed their views as a talk.

IOT BASED INSTRUMENTATION

The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation

Engineering of Easwari Engineering College under the

banner of EIE Students' Society conducted a Technical

Poster Contest - IOT BASED INSTRUMENTATION on

01.04.2021. Students participated enthusiastically and

presented the designed posters with the innovative ideas

through google meet. The faculty members for the contest

interacted with students and shared important tips.

Engineering organized a Technical contest –

Bold under Tech contest series for EIE and BME

students on 10.4.2021 through Google Meet.

Students explained about their innovative

products designed exclusively to help elderly

people. They answered questions asked by the

judges. The contest was very interesting as the

participants thrilled the audience by their creative

thinking.

Engineering organized a contest - HEP Goal

2024 under Technical Contest Series for the

First Year EIE and BME students on 15.4.2021.

The objective of the contest is to make the

students to fix their goals for their future after

2024 - Higher Studies, Entrepreneur or

Placement and to present their plan of action to

achieve the goal.

The first year students enthusiastically

participated in the contest and presented their

goal and action plan impressively.

The session started with the beautiful introduction of

Naval Force. The vibrant resource person in his talk

motivated the students and guided them on how to

prepare for naval entrance exams and how their

future goal should be. He highlighted various

opportunities in Naval. The session was very

informative and the Students were interactive with

She motivated the students and guided them on how to

the future goal should be. She briefed about the

entrance examinations like IELTS, GRE,TOEFL etc.

Hands on Training in Image Processing and

wavelet Transform Tools using Matlab by

Dr.G.Babu, Associate Professor / BME was

conducted on 13.03.2021 and 27.03.2021 as part

of EIE Staff Technical Forum activities.

He made clear presentation on workflow algorithms for image processing, analysis and visualization using MATLAB. He also demonstrated how the sensor output can be denoised with Wavelet Transform Tools and highlighted its usefulness in research works.

As a part of EIE Staff Technical Forum activities,

Mrs.R.Sudha, Assistant Professor / EIE handled

a session on Digital Communication Tools on

22.04.2021.

She made clear presentation on Collaboration

and Communication concepts in learning using

Nearpod Tool to enhance Teaching Learning

Process.

She also demonstrated how quiz programs and

brain storming sessions can be conducted

virtually using digital communication tools.

presented Data Visualization Tools in the EIE

Staff Technical Forum session on 29.04.2021

She clearly explained different Tools for Data

Visualization and their applications in

various fields.

She demonstrated with a sample data source how massive amount of data can be visualized using Google Data Studio. She explained how the tools can be used in creating educational reports and Dash Boards.

Staff Technical Forum is initiated in Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering with the

objective to share knowledge among Faculty members. Technical session will be convened once in a

week regularly and one faculty member will share their knowledge and expertise in application of any

tool, latest technology or techniques among their colleagues.

SCHOOL OUTREACH PROGRAM

Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering of Easwari

Engineering College organized a School Outreach Program – WE FOR U as

Career Guidance Program for +2 School students in CHSS SUBBARAYAN

Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Aminjikarai on 01.04.2021.

Career guidance was given by resource person of our program Smt. Nellai

Ulagammal, Famous Education Counsellor, through Google meet. The resource

person in her talk motivated the students and guided them on how to face the

society and how the future goal should be. She highlighted the opportunities in

the society and said about different entrance examination in government sectors

Career Guidance Program for School Students – WE

CARE WE GUIDE for the students of Chennai Higher

Secondary school, Koyambedu, Chennai on

12.04.2021.

Our Alumni of 2012 Batch, Mr.B.Suderson, Design

Engineer, Honeywell Automation started the Career

Guidance Program by explaining about various

Engineering streams and their scope for the career

growth. The scope of Instrumentation Engineering and

its opportunities in Automation Industries, Power Plants

and Aeronautics were well explained by him.

The school children raised many questions about

various fields and he clarified all their doubts. All the

participants thanked him for his motivational speech

and valuable guidance for the successful career.

College organized Awareness program for School students on Safety

and Preventive measures for Covid-19 in J S Govt. Hr. Sec.

School, Pazhaverkadu on 29.03.2021 through Google Meet.

Dr. B.Josephine, Senior Assistant Surgeon, Block Medical

Officer, Puzhal, Govt. of Tamilnadu, explained the recent issues in

Covid 19 and highlighted the prevention measures to be taken for

Covid 19. She also presented the key features of Covid-19

vaccination and the self-immunization through the food habits. The

school has arranged for live projection of this session in the school

premises for their students. Vote of thanks was given by

Thiru C. Velu, Tamil Teacher of the school.

STEPS FOR SUCCESS IN PLACEMENT DRIVES

Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering of Easwari Engineering College

organized a Placement Preparation Talk for ZOHO CORPORATION DRIVE on 17.04.2021 for

Third Year EIE Students.

The session started with Recruitment procedure and details by our department placement

coordinator Mrs.R.Nagalakshmi, Assistant Professor /EIE. Then EIE Final year student

Mr.K.Divyesh who got placed in Zoho shared his experience in Zoho Drive process. He discussed

the puzzles and questions asked for him.

Discussion as Placement initiative for EIE Third

year students on 24.04.2021.

Six panel of Group discussion was conducted

The session started with presentation on What is

a Group Discussion, How to start and conclude a

GD And What are Prerequisites of GD.

Later individual students were asked to speak

about their interested fields. Various current

affairs were discussed in all the panels. The

group discussion topics were given to students

the resource person made all the students in the

batch to speak up. Individual feedback was given

to them. The overall session was really helpful for

our students.

EIE Alumni of 2020 batch, Mr.K.Srilingeshwar, Ms.P.Nikitha,

Ms.S.Jael Sharon and Mr.S.Thiruvikraman, shared their

experience in Zoho Drive and gave ideas to the students on

how to prepare. Mr.S.Thiruvikraman shared his internship

experience in Zoho. The session made them to understand the

present scenario of recruitment process and pathway to

prepare for drives.

STEPS FOR SUCCESS IN PLACEMENT DRIVES

MOCK INTERVIEW

Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering of

Easwari Engineering College in association with International

Society of Automation (ISA) organized Mock Interview for EIE

Third year students on 24.4.2021.

Resource Persons are our versatile alumni of 2012 - 2013

Bangalore,

Mr.M.Valliappan, Project Leader, Philips India Limited, Industry

Health Care IT (R and D), Bengaluru.

Ms. Snigdha Ganesh, Business Process Manager, Financial

services, Dubai.

The interview was an emulation of job interview. The

conversational exercise resembled a real interview and helped

our students to improve their self-presentations. The resource

persons conducted interview and gave feedback for each

student.

The program provided an opportunity to our ElE students to

understand the technology expertise requirements and

upgrade them in better version.

TECHNICAL TEST SERIES

Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering introduced Technical Tests Series with daily

evening Tests for Third Year EIE Students from 10.03.2021 with the objective to prepare them for Placement

Interviews with sound knowledge in Technical concepts. All important subjects are identified and questions

are taken from the important concepts in that subjects. Technical Test is being conducted in one subject per

day and their performance feedback are sent to the students on the same day. Students are encouraged to

discuss and clarify their doubts if any.

TECHNICAL TRAINING

Placement Cell of Easwari Engineering College Technical Training Programme for Third Year

Students from 05.04.2021 to 16.04.2021 to enable the students for Software oriented placements. The

training was conducted through Zoom platform. Second phase of the training is planned in May 2021.

CROSS WORD PUZZLES

The concepts of Computer Network and TCP Congestion Control

were discussed and revised using Cross word Puzzles for the

Subject – Computer Networks [EI8074] for VI Semester- B

students by Dr.K.Kalaivani, Associate Professor / EIE on

21.04.2021 so that the students are able to remember the

networking concepts.

TECHNICAL QUIZ

The process to determine the SIL for each SIF is revised

through Technical Quiz for the Elective Subject –

Advanced Instrumentation Systems [EI8072] for VI

Semester students by Mrs.V.Sunanthini, Assistant

Professor / EIE on 01.04.2021. Students participated in the

quiz with interest and answered the questions.

ANIMATION

Working process of Field Control Station and interfacing of smart

field devices were presented through Animation for the Subject –

Logic and Distributed Control System [EI8651] for VI Semester-

A students by Mrs.K.Nandini, Assistant Professor / EIE on

27.04.2021.

FLASH CARDS

The components in Signal and function generators and

working of each wave generation was revised through

Flash Cards for the Subject – Electronic Instrumentation

[EI8692] for VI Semester-B students by

Mrs.R.Nagalakshmi, Assistant Professor / EIE on

21.04.2021. Different types of Oscillators and wave

generators were made easier to students..

LABVIEW LIVE DEMO

VI Semester-A students were explained how to draw block

diagram and Front panels in Labview through Labview Live Demo

for the Subject – Electronic Instrumentation [EI8692] by

Mrs.J.Johnsi, Assistant Professor / EIE on 26.04.2021. Students

learned to do design Instruments to get required outputs.

completed Phase I and Phase II works. Two more phase of works are in progress.
