BRONCOS SLATED TO PICK AT NO. 15 FOR FIFTH TIMEThe Broncos are scheduled to pick at No. 15 in

the NFL Draft for the fifth time, the most for a sin-gle first-round pick (No. 20, 4x) in franchise his-tory. Denver’s success drafting at No. 15 includes three players who each played at least 100 career games and spent their entire careers with the team (G Tom Glassic, 1976; S Dennis Smith, 1981; LB John Mobley, 1996).

The No. 15 selection netted Ring of Famer and six-time Pro Bowler Smith (1981-94) as well as two-time Super Bowl Champion and 1997 first-team All-Pro Mobley (1996-2003). Cornerback Deltha O’Neal (2000-03)—a Pro Bowler in his second season with Denver in 2001—and Glassic

(1976-83), who appeared in 105 games with the Broncos during the course of his eight-year career, were also selected at No. 15.

The No. 15 pick is the only selection in team history to lead to three players earning at least one Pro Bowl/All-Pro recognition. Only one other pick in team history has led to multiple Pro Bowlers/All-Pros (No. 40, WR Courtland Sutton/LB Ian Gold).

Broncos running back Melvin Gordon was drafted in that slot by San Diego in 2015. Gordon along with defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (NYG, 2010), guard/center Mike Pouncey (Mia., 2011) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (Pit., 2014) each earned at least two Pro Bowl nods with their original teams after being selected 15th overall.

The 15th overall pick in common era NFL Draft (since 1967) also produced future Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Notre Dame defensive tackle Alan Page (Min., 1967).

HIGHEST BRONCOS DRAFT PICKSIf the Broncos select with their slat-

ed No. 15 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, it will be tied for the 15th-highest draft pick in team history during the modern draft era.

Top 15 picks in franchise history have included 10 offensive players and five defensive players, including Pro

Football Hall of Fame running back Floyd Little and guard Chris Hinton, who was traded to the Baltimore Colts for Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway following the 1983 NFL Draft.

Denver’s highest draft choice was linebacker Von Miller, who was selected by the club with the No. 2 overall pick in 2011 from Texas A&M. Miller, the MVP of Super Bowl 50, was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s after leading the entire NFL with 112.5 overall sacks during the decade.

BRONCOS HISTORY DRAFTING IN THE TEENSDenver has picked in the teens (13-19) 11

times during the modern draft era. In addition to the team’s success at No. 15 (see page 3), the Broncos selected Ring of Famers linebacker Randy Gradishar (No. 14 - 1974, Ohio State) and cornerback Louis Wright (No. 17 - 1975, San Jose State) when drafting in the teens.

Gradishar, who was scheduled to announce one of Denver’s Day 2 picks live from the NFL Draft in Las Vegas, is a three-time Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist (2003, ‘08, ‘19 - Centennial Class).

BRONCOS OWN FIVE PICKS IN THE TOP 100 &THREE THIRD-ROUND SELECTIONS

Denver owns five top-100 picks, including three third-round picks, entering the 2020 NFL Draft. If the team uses all five picks, it would mark the first time in the Elway draft era (2011-pres.) and the third time since the league expanded to 32 teams in 2002 that the Broncos make five top-100 picks (2009 & 2010 drafts).

If the Broncos use all three third-round selections (No. 77, 83 & 95), it would mark the second time Denver drafted three players in the third round since 2015 when they drafted defensive back Karl Paymah (Wash. St., No. 76), defensive back Domonique Foxworth (Maryland, No. 97) and running back Maurice Clarett (Ohio State, No. 101).

BRONCOS AT NO. 46 (SECOND ROUND)Denver is slated to make its second selec-

tion at No. 46, a position it has drafted from twice in the common draft era (since 1967), picking Miami (Fla.) tackle Orlando Franklin in 2011 and Mississippi defensive end Andre Townsend in 1984.

Franklin started 63 regular-season games (47 at RT; 16 at LG) and seven postseason games

(6 at RT; 1 at LG) during his four years as a Bronco (2011-14). He started at right tackle for Denver in Super Bowl XLVIII.

PRO BOWL BRONCOS DRAFTED The Broncos have selected 41 players in the NFL Draft who have

gone on to earn a total of 125 Pro Bowl berths for the team since that game was first played during the 1970 season.

Denver has had success drafting Pro Bowl players in late rounds, choosing nine future Pro Bowl selections in rounds five and later. These late-round steals for Denver include tight end Shannon Sharpe (Rd. 7, ‘90), linebacker Karl Mecklenburg (Rd. 12, ‘83), C Tom Nalen (Rd. 7, ‘94) and running back Terrell Davis (Rd. 6, ‘95).

In 2019, wide receiver Courtland Sutton (Rd. 2, ‘18) became the first drafted Bronco since outside linebacker Von Miller (Rd. 1, ‘11) to be named to a Pro Bowl. Miller, who was selected to his eighth Pro Bowl last season, is tied with safety Steve Atwater (Rd. 1, ‘89) for the most Pro Bowl honors among Broncos originally drafted by the team.

Additionally, nine Broncos draft classes have produced multiple players who earned Pro Bowl recognition for the club.
