Livestock Pre-Show May 31, 9 am

The Livestock Pre-Show will be held at Oakwood Mule Farm and all 4-H/FFA

members with market animals projects that will be showing and selling at

the 2014 Expo are encouraged to attend. First-time exhibitors of any mar-

ket species must attend or pay an additional 1% commission fee. First-time

steer exhibitors are required to bring their steers. Other steers should be

brought to the pre-show to acquaint them with the arena and for 4-H’ers to

practice leading them with the other steers. Instruction will be given on

what the judges will be looking for and how best to show your animal.

There will also be demonstrations on how to show hogs and lambs. Rabbit

and poultry exhibitors are not required to attend.

Missouri Agriculture Photo Contest Captures Best of Farm, Rural Life The Missouri Dept. of Agriculture is holding the 5th annual Focus on Missouri Agri-culture contest, asking Missourians to share the unique stories and images of agri-culture through photographs. The contest is an opportunity for amateur photogra-phers to submit their best images of agriculture – from a beautiful Missouri farm, to a farm tractor that has been in the family for years and the fun and excitement of a child at an agritourism operation. The Focus on Missouri Agriculture Photo Contest is open to Missouri’s amateur photographers of all ages. Up to three photos may be entered in each of the five categories: The Beauty of the Farm, Faces of the Farm, The Farming Life and The Pride of the Farm. The Children's Barnyard is a special category for young photogra-phers ages 12 and under.

Prizes include an AgriMissouri gift basket valued at $100 to the First Place winner in each of the four categories. The winner of the Children’s Barnyard category re-ceives a special gift basket filled with $100-worth of child-friendly items from AgriMissouri. An AgriMissouri gift basket valued at $250 is awarded to the Best of Show. Winners also receive canvas prints of their winning shot. Winners will be announced at the 2014 MO State Fair in Sedalia, Aug. 7-17 and the images will be displayed during the State Fair in the Agriculture Building. For a list of rules and guidelines, visit agriculture.mo.gov/focus. Photos must be submitted by June 30.

report was made on our club Movie Night. We were reminded about McDonald’s Night on April 29th for those that
