Section 8Authority of the DepartmentThe Department shall be the primary government agency responsible for the conservation, management, development, and proper use of the State's mineral resources including those in reservations, watershed areas, and lands of the public domain.
The DENR shall adhere to the principle ofSUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WHICHMEETS THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENTWITHOUT COMPROMISING THE ABILITY OFTHE FUTURE GENERATIONS TO MEETTHEIR OWN NEEDS, WITH THE VIEW OFIMPROVING THE TOTAL QUALITY OF LIFE,BOTH NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.
