    Demo LHMI EXERCISES

Setting exercises for REF615 by using thelocal HMI

Use the navigation push buttons (up, down, left, right) to navigate in the menustructure. To change a setting, press the Enter button.

    Change the following parameters

Check that the date and time in the relay are correct. You should find thesetting via the following menu: Configuration - Time - System timeIf time or date is wrong, you should give the correct values.

Change the short circuit protection 3I>>> settings (setting group 1). Youshould find the setting via the following menu:

    Settings - Settings - Edit Group 1 - Current protection - 3I>>>(1)

Operation: OnNum of start phases: 2 out of 3Start value: 1.55 x InOperate delay time: 50 ms

Change the circuit breaker control settings. You should find the settings viathe following menu:Configuration - Control - I 0 CB

Change the current measurement settings. You should find the settings viathe following menu:Configuration - Measurements - 3I

    Measurement mode: RMS

    Demand interval: 15 min

Change the settings of the trip logic. You should find the settings via thefollowing menu:Configuration - Trip logic - Master Trip(1)

Trip pulse time: 160 msTrip output mode: Non-latched

Set the threshold voltage for the binary inputs.

    Main Menu/Configuration/ I/O modules / Common settingsThreshold voltage: 18V

Return to main menu. Commit the settings when the relay asks.

Inject current to the relay by using the simulator. Verify the operation of thestart and trip leds and indications on the display. Use Clear button to clear theIndications, LEDs and Alarm LEDs after each trip. Read also the fault records.

    Main Menu/Monitoring / Recorded data / Fault record 1....4

Tip: Clear button can be used as a shortcut for clearing. The first three-secondpress clears the indications. The second three-second press clears thealarm LEDs.

Open and close the circuit breaker by using the local HMI:

At first set the Local / Remote button to Local mode (L). The interlocking rulesin REF615 are programmable. In the demo relay the interlocking areprogrammed as follows:

Open the CB: Always possibleClose the CB: Earth-switch has to in open position

Try to open and close the circuit breaker by using Open (0) and Close (I)buttons in the relay HMI. Try also close the circuit breaker when the earth-switch is closed. First you have to close earth-switch by using simulator.

    Demo WHMI EXERCISE

    Web HMI exercises for REF615

    1. Read the IP address of the relay

Read the IP address (rear port) of the relay. You can check the IP address forthe rear port via relay menu

    Main menu / Configuration / Communication / Ethernet / Rear port(s)Default IP is 192.168.2.10

Check that Web HMI is active.Main menu / Configuration / HMI / Web HMI mode

    - set mode to "Active"

Set Web HMI timeout to 60 min.Main menu / Configuration / HMI / Web HMI timeout

Return to main menu. Commit the settings when the relay asks.

If you changed the Web HMI mode, it comes valid only when you restart therelay. The restart can be done in:

Main menu / Configuration / General / Software reset

    2. Set TCP/IP properties in PC and open Internet Explorer 7.0 browser

Use the following TCP/IP settings in PC when using rear port: “Use thefollowing IP address”.

Note: In the IP address the first three numbers must be the same as the IPaddress in the relay. The last number must be different!

Start the internet browser and write the IP address of the relay to the address

    field. Login as ADMINISTRATOR.

    Demo WHMI EXERCISE

In this demo use the WHMI to

    - Change protection settings- View alarm leds- View and clear Events- View Phasor diagrams (Adobe SVG Viewer need to be installed to PC)- Clear Indications and Alarm LEDs- Read disturbance recorder files

    - Save the both files in the same folder on your computer, and open thedisturbance recorder files with a suitable program (e.g. Wavewin).- Note. You must trig the disturbance recorder first. You can alsomanually trig the disturbance recorder via WHMI.

    Demo EXERCISES WITH PCM600

Setting Exercise for REF615 with PCM600

This exercise shows the basic steps for getting started with PCM600.

Start PCM600. Select File - New Project. Fill in the project name anddescription. Click Create.

Drag and drop the objects Substation, Voltage level and Bay to PlantStructure. You can also rename the objects by using mouse right click. If you

do not see the Object Types in PCM600, select View - Object Types.

    Demo EXERCISES WITH PCM600

You should first select "Read from IED..." to read all data from the relay(configuration and parameter settings). Note that reading takes some minutes.Without "Read from IED...", you will have the default settings andconfiguration in PCM600 project (i.e. online configuration does not read thesetting parameters and Signal Matrix Tool connections).

Use Parameter setting tool for changing and viewing the relay settings. Use

"Read" button for reading the parameters. When you change some

parameters, use "Write" button to send the parameters to the relay. Youcan (for example) change some protection function setting parameters.

    Demo DR EXERCISE

    Disturbance recorder exercise for REF615

First check that the disturbance recorder operation is on. Other generalparameters you can set as follows by using Parameter Setting tool. You can

find the disturbance recorder general configuration settings from menuConfiguration - Disturbance recorder.

Note. If you do not see all the parameters as in the picture below, select View- Parameter layer - Advanced Parameters.

The disturbance recorder has 64 digital inputs, of which 35 are connected asdefault in standard configuration F. All connected signals can be used eitherto trigger the disturbance recorder or to be recorded by the disturbancerecorder depending on the parameter settings.

The next picture shows how some of the signals in the disturbance recorderare connected. All the default connections in different standard configurations

are listed in the Application manual. The default connections can be changed(if needed) in Signal Matrix Tool.

    DEMO SMT EXERCISE

    Extra exercise: Signal Matrix Tool

Select the relay from the tree and right click with mouse. Open Signal Matrixtool.

As a first exercise, change the functionality of the alarm LEDs. By default theLEDs are connected as follows (in F std. conf).

Use Signal Matrix Tool to change the functionality of the LED 10 and 11.Program the LED 10 to be "Circuit breaker open position" and LED 11 to be"Circuit Breaker closed position". LEDs are available in "Binary Outputs"page.

    DEMO SMT EXERCISE

As the second exercise, connect binary input X120 - input 1 (input 1 insimulator) to change between setting group one and setting group two i.e.connect X120 - input 1 to "Protection: 0 ActSG" in SMT. This can be done inBinary Inputs page.

By default, X120 input 1 is used for blocking the over current instantaneousstage (PHIPTOC1, I>>>). Remove that default connection.

When you are ready with the connections, close the SMT tool, save andselect "Write to IED".

Note that you have to change also the setting parameter Configuration -System - SG follow input to "True".

Test by using the simulator (activate and de-activate input 1). You can monitorthe active setting group from the relay menu Settings - Setting group. When

the input 1 is active, the setting group in use should be 2. When the input 1 isnot active, the setting group in use should be one.
