About the DelURide and the Chase Your Dreams Foundation

The DelURide

The DelURide is a 2,000+ mile charity bike ride (and manifestation of our dream) fromDelFest in Cumberland, Maryland, to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride,Colorado, aimed to raise funds and awareness for the Chase Your Dreams Foundation. TheDelURide is the brainchild of co-founders Jeffrey Steckler and Charlie Wildman. Firstintroduced to one another in 2005 at the University of Mississippi, Steckler and Wildmanhave maintained a close friendship since being introduced. At the heart of this friendshipis an annual trip to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival that Wildman and Steckler beganattending in 2009. During brunch in Telluride in 2013, Steckler and Wildman begandiscussing long distance bike rides. Steckler was eyeing the Pacific Crest Trail, 2,500 milesfrom Vancouver to Tijuana, while Wildman was intrigued with the idea of going frombluegrass festival in the east to bluegrass festival in the Rockies. The two began to explorethe feasibility of what was quickly dubbed The DelURide. Not only did they think it waspossible, but Wildman and Steckler realized that the DelURide could be much bigger thanoriginally anticipated, and it was when Wildman and Steckler approached the Chase YourDreams Foundation that the DelURide began to take shape.

The Organizers

Chase Treadway, founder of the Chase Your DreamsFoundation

Born on an American Air Base near Madrid, Spain, Chasegrew up in a military family and has lived throughoutEurope and the U.S. He graduated from St. StanislausSchool in Bay St Louis, Mississippi, and attended theUniversity of Mississippi where he joined Delta KappaEpsilon social fraternity. Upon graduation in 2008 hejoined DKE International staff serving as SouthernChapter Consultant.

Over the 4th of July 2009, Chase suffered a severe swimming pool injury, resulting in aburst fracture to his C6 and C7 vertebrae and subsequent quadriplegia. He spent over 4months at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where he began a long recovery.Chase and his family then relocated to Covington, Louisiana, and following years ofdepression, he began a new path toward rehabilitation and recovery. He found thatmotivating events like skydiving provided an uptick in spirit, and that regaining someindependence he also regained some dignity. He then, through founding the CYDF,repurposed his life to be a positive and uplifting mentor and advocate for the recentlydisabled.

Today, Chase is living life to the fullest! He recently got engaged and is supremely excitedfor the future. The Chase Your Dreams Foundation is Chase’s way of bringing hope to thosewho have suffered disabilities and continue to search for strength & motivation every day.
