Operating InstructionsFor optimum performance and to prevent damage to this precision

    instrument, carefully follow all instructions.

Cautions & Warnings:Check to ensure that the magazine of t he firearm has been

removed or emptied, that the action is open, and that there is

not a round in the chamber. Only after double checking the firearm, verifying

it is empty and safe, should you proceed with the installat ion of the Delta

Point. Do not look directly into the sun, light arcs or other high-intensity light

sources. Keep away from children. Adjustment lock screws are loosened at

the factory and your firearm should not be fired with the DeltaPoint att ached

until these screws are tighened to 4 inch pounds.

Start-UpThe unit operates with one commercially available 3V Lithium battery

(CR 2032) only. Insert the battery into the receptacle located on theunderside of the housing oriented so that the positive pole on the battery

label is visible. Keep the contact surface clean of dirt and corrosion,

cleaning with alcohol if necessary. If you intend to use the DeltaPoint in

a wet environment, we recommend coating the battery on all sides with

petroleum jelly or other electronics grade lubricant/ protectant to prevent

    battery corrosion.

Battery InstallationRemove the two screws holding

the DeltaPoint to the base and

turn the sight upside down. Place

the Torx wrench or a screwdriver

in the notch and gently pry the

battery loose. Insert a new battery

    as described earlier. The precision

pins eliminate the need for any re-adjustment.

InstallationInstallation on most handguns requires the use of one of the included

mount bases. Leupold recommends utilizing a qualified gunsmith to press/

remove the rear sight from your handgun. Once the rear sight has been

removed, the appropriate dovetail replaces the rear sight, with the part

number facing up. Some installations (Kimber / Smith & Wesson M&P)

require the use of the included set screws to be placed in the dovetail

to hold it in place and the M4 x 0.7mm Torxscrews will fasten into the

    dovetail plate extension.

The corresponding mount base for your pistol is placed on top of the slide

and over the dovetail with the flat part number side facing up through the

slot in the base. Once the dovetail and mount base have been placed on

the slide, the DeltaPoint is placed on top of the base. The four holes in thebottom of the DeltaPoint will align with the four short posts on the mount

base and secure into the dovetail using the two included M4 x 0.7mm

Torxscrews ( Figure 1). Secure the screws by applying 20 inch pounds

of torque. Securing these screws creates a press-fit and will hold the

Reversible Cross-Slot MountPlace the sight on the mount base so that the screw holes in the sight and

base align, also the two short corner posts on the mount align to the holes

under the DeltaPoint. The unit may be installed with the mount base keeper

on either side. Install the two M4 x 0.7mm screws and tighten to 20 inch

pounds. Loosen the keeper on the mount. Place the mount on the rail with

the cross bolt located in the desired slot. Check to be sure all the clamping

edges are engaged. Keep a light pressure on the sight toward the muzzle

as you tighten the keeper to approximately 20 inch pounds.

    Operating Procedure

    Elevation and Windage Adjustment

Separate controls for the elevation and windage adjustments are found

on the top and left side of the sight. Loosen the two lock screws on the

back side of the sight counterclockwise turn each using the provided

Torx driver. Turn the D (DOWN) or R (RIGHT) screws with the provided

    Torx driver. The windage adjustment

mechanism has limit stops at both ends.

Before shooting, make sure to tighten

the lock screws to 4 inch pounds.

Power On/OffThe DeltaPoint will automatically power on when movement is sensed. The

sight will switch to sleep mode when it remains still for 5 minutes.

Power-Saving ModeUnder dark conditions the LED brightness is reduced dramatically to reduce

power consumption. In addition, after the optic has been completely at rest

for 5 minutes the sight transfers to sleep mode, thus nearly eliminating all

battery drain. Upon any movement of the optic, the system powers up the

LED to the appropriate brightness in less than 1/10 of a second.

Placing the included rubber cover over the DeltaPoint forces the unit to

operate at its Lowest ambient light setting and will remain at this level

of operation until either the deltapoint is idle for 5 minutes or longer or

the cover is removed and the Deltapoint adjusts to the current ambient

    conditions.

Low Battery IndicatorThe DeltaPoint has a unique feature that flashes the aiming point from

maximum to minimum brightness when low battery power is detected. The

operator will have several hours of operating time in this mode before the

sight is rendered inoperable without a battery change.

    Intelligent Brightness Control

The integrated control circuit adjusts the brightness of the aiming dot /

delta according to ambient light levels. The brightness sensor on the front of

the sight senses the light level in the direction of the target and modifies the

intensity of the dot () / delta () accordingly so that it is not overpowering in

low light while remaining highly visible in bright daylight. When moving from

bright to dark conditions, the DeltaPoint will gradually decrease the intensityof the aiming dot/delta to match the dilation rate of your eye. Be careful not to

obstruct the sensor. Clean if necessary. To ensure immediate functionality,

the light-emitting diode will remain on even in complete darkness but

uses only a small amount of energy. When the optic is completely

stationary for 5 minutes the circuitry switches into sleep mode. It

immediately powers up when any movement or vibration is detected.

Water IntegrityThough the DeltaPoint is completely waterproof, extended periods of

complete immersion may result in accelerated battery depletion, possibly

requiring battery replacement. After exposure to salty or dirty water, rinse

with distilled water and dry the sight.

Leupold Full Lifetime GuaranteeLeupold warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship. Leupold

will repair or replace, at its option without charge, any product or part found to be defective under

normal use and service. Such repair or replacement shall be the purchasers sole and exclusive

remedy under this warranty. This warranty does not include normal maintenance and servicesand does not apply to any products or parts that have been subjected to modification, misuse,

negligence, accident, improper maintenance or repair by anyone other than Leupold.

The electronics in your Leupold DeltaPointReflex sight are covered by the Leupold Electronics

Warranty, and are protected from defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the

date of purchase. In event of a need for service or repair, please contact Leupold Product Service.

Note that the elevation adjustment downward stop is available only when the unit isinstalled on a mounting plate. Screwing either adjustment into a stop will lock motionof the other adjustment.

    Zeroing the Point-of-Impact

The DeltaPoint windage and elevation screws move the point of impact

60 MOA (15 @ 25 yds) per revolution. Each Mark on the adjustment

screws represents about 7.5 MOA of adjustment. There is 60 MOA per

revolution and a total of 8 marks (equals 7.5 per mark). Before shooting,

make sure to tighten the lock screws on the rear of the DeltaPoint (4 inch

pounds, maximum) with the provided Torx driver.

Boresighting the DeltaPointThe use of a Leupold Zero PointBoresighter is recommended when zeroingthe DeltaPoint. Due to the low magnification of the DeltaPoint, the grid pattern

will appear relatively small. To make the boresighting process easier, Leupold

recommends placing the eye near the DeltaPoint while making windage/

elevation adjustments. As with any boresighting procedure, be sure to follow

all safety precautions prior to boresighting, and make sure the boresighter has

been removed from the the barrel prior to loading the magazine or chamber.

    Warranty Limitation

There is no other express warranty. Leupold hereby dis

including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpos

incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out

    performance.
