As part of making Halloween safer for the children who live in the Third Ward, brothers of Delta Theta sponsored a booth for the Trick or Treat on the Tiger Walk event. The event ensured that the children in the area have a fun and safe environment to trick-or-treat. We passed out candy on our campus all while dressed up in our Halloween costumes.

Trick or Treat on the Tiger Walk

Rounding out the end of the semester, it is important to support each other through finals and all other end-of-the-year assessments. During finals week, the brothers distributed prayer bags filled with prayers, pens, pencils, and snacks to all the pharmacy students to help them finish strong for the semester.

Philanthropy

Habitat for Humanity

Keeping up with our recent work last spring, the brothers returned to Habitat for Humanity. We volunteered at their ReStore Shop, which provides new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

Christmas Eve Big Feast Sponsored by the City Wide Club of Clubs, brothers returned to volunteer at the Christmas Eve Big Feast. We were able to serve food, package brown bags full of canned goods, arrange/sort clothes, and provide toys to those who came to the George R. Brown Convention Center on Christmas Eve.

Mia’s Closet Gift Wrapping Party

Brothers returned to Mia’s Closet to help with the toy and clothing drive. We also helped wrap the toys and clothes for over 250 kids from the Transformation Youth Center. Every kid left with a gift with extra bags leftover at the end!

Texas Enrollment Health Fair

In collaboration with SNPhA, brothers volunteered at the Texas Enrollment Health Fair that focused on open enrollment for health insurance and health/wellness. We provided BMI, cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood glucose screenings as well as helped with the administration of flu vaccinations.

Valentine’s Day Cards

Continuing on with our tradition of making Valentine’s Day cards like last year, brothers spent an evening creating as many hand-made cards we could. We then distributed the cards to patients in Quentin Mease Hospital.

Philanthropy

ABC Dental Outreach

Brothers of Kappa Psi partnered up with ABC Dental and the Houston Food Bank to distribute food to all those who came to the event. Brothers even went so far as to deliver all the food to people’s cars and nearby houses. It was a great way of helping our community and we are excited to continue collaborating with ABC Dental.

Social

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Year Bowling Night

To close out the fall semester, Kappa Psi hosted an Ugly Christmas Sweater Social. Motivated by an “Ugliest Sweater” prize, brothers came out sporting the funniest and ugliest sweater they could find/make. The night was filled with laughs, fellowship, and relief that the semester was finished.

Kappa Psi hosted a Bowling Social as a way for prospective students to get to mix and mingle with brothers. The night was filled with heated competition and a whole bunch of fun. The bowling alley was packed! It was a great night and we thank all those who attended.

Fundraising

Halloween Bake Sale Stethoscope and Blood

Pressure Cuff Sale Organized by our fundraising chairs, Brothers Nicole Anidiobi and Jarrhett Burton, brothers had a Halloween Bake Sale at both Gray Hall and TMC campuses. We sold a variety of Halloween inspired sweets. We thank all those who supported us!

Brothers sold customized stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs as a way to fundraise. With over 20 different colors to choose from, there was something for everyone!

Southwest Province

Respectfully Submitted

The brothers of Delta Theta would like to thank everyone for helping to make the Southwest Province Conclave such a memorable occasion. It had been 35 years since Delta Theta hosted the province and it was exciting to see all of our brothers! The weekend was very successful and filled with various activities including a Murder Mystery, competitive games, workshops, CEs, and a Great Gatsby themed banquet. Both Ashley Hall (Regent) and Janay Bailey (Province Planning Chair) were honored with the Recognition Button. We were also graced by the presence of our chapter’s founder, Brother Patrick Wells. We really enjoyed hosting the event and thank all brothers for their support!
