Our Annual Meeting was held on April 26th at the Church of Christ Fel-
lowship Hall. There were thirty-nine of us who enjoyed an evening of good
food, fellowship and business. Both the Annual Meeting and the Annual Pic-
nic afford opportunities for neighbors to know one another. Our special
guest speaker was Tyson Griswold who provided some great information
relating to some of the possible water problems of our older homes and
how to resolve them in our mountainous community.
Dan Schedivy and Kurt Wuerfele were elected to fill the two open posi-
tions on the board. Serving as a board member is a privilege. Each year,
new members are added to join the team. There are always tasks to be
accomplished and there is a certain joy in working as a great team.
Snow plowing was discussed and abandoned for another winter season
due to the high cost, uncertainty of the weather and the fact that many felt
NCDOT had done a better job this past winter.
There was a discussion on the pros and cons of the proposed street
lights. The majority of our community was not in favor of the proposed
street lights.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to prepare a covered dish
and attend our Annual Meeting. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Dellwood resident and quilter, Jeanne Farrell, is one of the twenty artist
selected to participate in this prestigious show. It is a wonderful opportunity to see
Jeanne’s beautiful quilt and all the other works of art. If you plan to attend the pre-
view party on the 25th, there is a $25 per person donation required that will benefit
local high school art programs. The other days are free.
If you would like to volunteer to organize the community garage sale, please contact a board member by
June 15th. If 8 or more members participate, DHA will pay to run an ad in the local paper and for balloons
for mailboxes. Thank you.

you would like to contribute to the next Dellwood Digest, please send them to Beth Echols. Thank you.
Chocolate is a vegetable being derived from cocoa beans and beans are classified as vegetable. The
sugar is derived from either cane or beets—both plants which are also considered vegetable. Most of the
offerings in chocolate candy include milk, which is dairy. Some candy offerings include raisins, nuts, cherries
and other fruits. Therefore, we must conclude that chocolate is health food.
If you get melted chocolate on your hands, you are probably eating it too slowly. In order to elimi-
nate melting in your hot car, try eating it in the store or in the parking lot. If you are striving for a more
balanced diet, try eating an equal amount of dark and white chocolate. Some chocolate offerings even have
a number of preservatives that just might make you look younger.
Put eating chocolate at the top of your list of things to do today. This way, you will know that you
will get at least one thing accomplished! HAPPY EATING!
