1.1 Our Corporate Plan

Roads and Maritime Services exists to make New South Wales a better place to live. A place where people are connected to each other and to economic opportunity. A place known for its vibrant, liveable communities. A place where people and goods can move safely and efficiently on the road and maritime networks.

Roads and Maritime Services Corporate Plan 2018–2021February 2018

We do this as part of the NSW Transport cluster – planning, developing, investing in and managing an integrated transport system. Our investment in transport infrastructure shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions, as well as supporting continued strong growth in NSW.

The kind of organisation we want to be is:

• Focussed on our core services

• Delivering what customers value in the cities and in the regions

• A sophisticated manager of the road and maritime networks

• Safe – safer communities and a safer workplace

• Respectful of our community and the environment

• Always delivering on our commitments

• Working together with industry to innovate.

1.2 Our customers and our commitment to delivering valueOur customers are the people and businesses that directly benefit from our road and maritime networks and services. Each day the road and maritime networks in NSW enable millions of customer journeys and the transport of goods, supporting a productive economy.

To provide the best possible level of service to our customers, we are committed to delivering the maximum level of value for every dollar invested. Delivering customer value requires us to excel in three key areas which are integral to all our activities:

1. Understanding what is important to our customers

2. Prioritising investment based on what is important to our customers

3. Delivering in the most cost effective manner the transport of goods, supporting a productive economy.

Roads and Maritime Services released its Corporate Plan for 2018 to 2021 in early 2018. Our Corporate Plan has six strategic priorities that will shape our direction from 2018–2021.

Our strategic priorities are enabled by two areas of focus at our foundation:

• People, culture, values – our people will be technically excellent, ready for the future, diverse and reflective of the community we serve.

• Innovation in technology – innovation in technology will also enable us to deliver the priorities and support the delivery of our plans.

The activities listed in this Delivery Plan support how we will deliver our six strategic priorities:

1. Increase customer valueDelivering greater value to customers means better journeys on road and maritime networks – smoother, faster, more reliable.

2. Get more out of the networkGetting more out of the network means more people and freight moved on our roads and waterways.

3. Keep safety at the heartOur safety commitment means a safer NSW – for you, for your family and for your community.

4. Respect our community and the environmentRespect for our community means your priorities will be heard and reflected in our plans.

5. Deliver the Government’s programDelivering on our commitments means over $16.1 billion of investment across NSW by 2021, supporting sustained economic growth.

6. Partner to improve servicesBeing integrated across the transport system to deliver improved services for customers, with more seamless journeys across travel modes.

The following tables outline our key activities for 2018-19, which are aligned to and support the delivery of our Corporate Plan.
