Another mixed month for the team, a win and two draws in the league, but an exit from the League Cup... First up was a game that could only be described as a 'bore draw' at Shelley. The teams effectively cancelled each other out, and Hood looked lethargic and short of ideas. Shelley took the lead in the second half after a defensive mix up and Hood dominated play after that but without their usual quality, and were relieved when Scott Murgatroyd equalised late on. Not a game to dwell on for long. The next match was at home to Otley Town, and this one was all Hood, but scoring

was the only difficulty. Youngster Danny Bridges finally gave Hood the lead when his free kick from out wide deceived everyone and ended up in the net. One nil up at the break. The second half ticked by with more chances missed, and just when it was looking like the one goal would be enough, Otley scored against the run of play and Hood were hanging on at the end. But 1-1 it finished. A tough-looking League Cup tie at table-topping Field brought the best out of Hood. Unfortunately, defender Lee Jaques was

dismissed after only 15 minutes for two over-enthusiastic challenges leaving Hood to play most of the game with 10 men. Needless to say Hood were up against it but held out goalless until half time with some smart saves from keeper Lee Wood. But inevitably, it couldn't last the second 45 minutes and Field scored twice. The Hood heads didn't drop, and were unlucky not to get at least one back. Field were awarded a penalty right at the end and although Lee Wood saved it, they knocked in the rebound. The 3-0 final score didn't reflect the game at all, but that's football. East End Park were welcomed to the Coach Ground, and Hood finally got their first win of the month. Hood were slightly better than East End Park, but not by as much as the league positions might suggest. Centre-back Jonny Downey opened the scoring for Hood from a Lee Jaques free kick but minutes later he got dispossessed and Park equalised. Hood pressed forward and were soon back in front with a super shot from outside the box

from Jordan Stafford following some good interplay. It looked like Hood would be ahead at half time but Park equalised again when there seemed little danger. Hood started well after the break, and soon restored their lead thanks to a smart Scott Murgatroyd move and finish. Hood were creating chances but many of the were not being taken, frustrating the crowd. Tino Chibharo finally beat the defence and rounded the keeper to make it 4-2 and that should have wrapped the game up. But East End Park weren't done yet and caught Hood on the counter attack near the end to pull one back. This led to a nervy last few moments but Hood were strong
