Characters The main character of the story is Ed

Gentry as the story is seen through his mind and his thoughts.

The four friends are Ed Gentry a graphic designer, Drew Belinger a soft drink executive, Bobby Trippe an insurance sales man, and Lewis Medlock a land lord and a professional archer.

Plot On the way to the river the men stop and ask for help on how to get directions to the

river but many of the local people are very reluctant to try and help them. Their goal is to run the river all the way down to the town of Aintry but little do they

no of what troubles and perils they will have to go through.

Deliverance first starts out in Atlanta Georgia with four men who are great friends that are planning to go on canoeing trip on the Callahausee river before it gets damned and to just get away from things in the busy city for a while.

Trouble On the River On the second day Ed and Bobby get lost on the river away from Lewis and

Drew. As they wait on the side they encounter two hill people that force sexual

acts on upon the men until Lewis finds their canoe and kills one of the hillbillies with his bow and arrow before anymore harm could be done.

Murder or Not After the other man runs away into the woods the group gathers around the dead

body and decides what to do with it. Both of the men decide they should burry the body because the river will be damned

and know will ever no about or even be able to go and search for it.

As they continue down stream the rapids get more and more intense and powerful. On the last biggest set of rapids drew which is on Ed canoe larches' out of the raft and disappears both of the men are so confused as of to what happened they loose control of their canoes and tumble out into the water.

The rest of the men find a rock after they were dumped into the water Lewis out of all this confusion and rough water broke his legs while coming down.

Drew is till no where to be found and they suspect that he was shot by the other Hill Billy who ran away.

They look around and they see a huge cliff and they think the man who shot drew is up their.

They decide that if the go any further they will be prime targets and they either need to stay on the rock and wait for help or go up on the cliff and kill the man.

The great challenge Since Lewis leg is broken and one person has to be with him so he doesn’t die, Ed

decides to climb up the cliff with Lewis's bow and kill the man. On his way climbing up Ed’s thoughts racing and he doesn’t no if he can make it up he

keeps pondering why all this has happened to him and he sometimes even contemplates suicide because he no he wont make it up the cliff. But Lewis musters enough strength to deify the impossible.

Through the tiresome night he did and he waited on top the whole rest of the night to see if the man would come back.

The hunter and its pray As morning cam Ed finds the man and shoots him with his arrow and the man dies. As he gets the body down the cliff he realizes that isn't the right man and the man

who they encountered before had no front teeth and this man isn't the right guy. With dispare he decided to proceed and he goes down the cliff with the body.

As he approaches the rest of the crew he tells them what happened and shows them the body so in disbelief they sink the man in the river so he can be found again.

What's left of the group go back down the river to Aintry and they get help so they can get Lewis medical attention and they file a missing persons report with the police.

In their stay in Aintry many of the sheriff men question Ed and bobby because one of the residents of the town went off missing.

Ed knows that the man who is missing is the man he accidently shot up on the cliff.

After more questioning the sheriff of the town decides to let them go on a warning never to come back beaus there was not a enough evidence against them.

Both of the men parted ways on that day Lewis and Ed still were good friends bobby moved some where else to work on his business and Drew still in the dark bottom of what was the callahause River

The men still don’t forget what happened on that river and it will still be their to haunt them. But they slowly get back to their normal life.
