qualifications. Many of the most important lessons are those which students learn as part of team games, cross fertilizations of ideas, competitions and collaborative work.
To pave the way for such non-cognitive learning we organize a variety of competitions and cultural events which also support formal learning. Inter class/house competitions such as debate, recitation, fancy dress, group song, folk dance, rangoli, art and craft etc. provide learning experiences which enrich the educational and social development of the students.
Morning assemblies arranged house wise on rotational basis is a forum for the students to address a large audience and express themselves. Every student is encouraged to participate indiscriminately with the intention of nurturing and developing inner talents. Conducting activity clubs twice a week allows the learners to pursue any interest of their choice.
Hand in hand with class-room education, such events provide the students with an opportunity to be a part of a broad spectrum of activities which promote the development of a "Complete Being."
some of these activities are: Dramatics literaryActivities Quiz Art/Craft Music & Dance Games & Sports: Cricket, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Chess, Football, Swimming, Skating, Basketball.

To encourage friendships across the school and a sense of responsibility and care in ourolder children for the younger ones, we have a buddy system.
We have clear aims and expectations to help us achieve a happy, safe and secureenvironment for all those who work in or visit our school. We have introduced GoldenRules to help us achieve our aims. These rules emphasise the positive:
Students share a playtime during which older children may organise games for youngerones.
Older children are linked with younger ones
Year 6 and Year 3
Year 5 and Year 2
Year 4 and Year 1 likewise...
Do be kind and helpful...
Do be gentle...
Do listen...
Do work hard...
Do be honest...
Do look after property...
Empowering children at their own pace, has been the one thought behind the vision.Learning is approached with a harmony between inner directed and outer directedactivities. Childhood is not about teaching, it's about feeling.

I will be helpful and polite to everyone
I will look at and listen to people who are talking to me
I will look after everything in our school
I will always try my best in everything I do
Minor rule breaking will be ignored. Members of staff will provide attention to those who are behaving correctly. When pupils have to be reminded of the rules, this will be done quietly and calmly with the aim of getting the pupil back on task as soon as possible. The inappropriate behaviour will be criticised not the child.
Our five simple school rules are:
I will walk and talk quietly in our school

DEALING WITH INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR
Within a school 'family' some rules are essential; these are mostly matters of common sense to ensure the safety of our children. The emphasis in the school is to praise positive behaviour, attitude and effort and to increase children's awareness of the need to make a positive contribution to their community.
We have a Behavior Policy which is consistently applied by all adults who work in school and is outlined below:
We will work closely with other agencies to ensure that children with complex needs
DPSES has such an environment where effective teaching and learning can take place.
We will strive to create a positive climate in which pupil's self esteem is nurtured and misbehavior becomes a less attractive way to gain attention.
A high level of parental involvement is encouraged and expected.
Everyone will work together to encourage good behavior.

THE SCHOOL DOCTOR
All children new to the school should be aware that the social environment may be very different to that at home. Large numbers of children working and playing together necessitate the imposition of rules of behavior to ensure the safety and well-being of each individual. Thus, while there exists no official list of regulations, each child is, for example, expect to be polite to other pupils and visitors; exercise tolerance in relationship with peers; be prepared to offer assistance when and where it is needed; exercise initiative and show respect for others (adults and children). Children should also be receptive to the school's efforts to develop his or her own esteem. From time to time it will be necessary for the teacher to issue instructions which may need to be acted upon promptly without question and the child should understand that, in such circumstances, the member of staff is acting either for the pupil's own benefit or with the general welfare of the school in mind. Thus, although corporal punishment has been prohibited in county schools and voluntary controlled schools since September 1986, standards of discipline are high and other punishments of a non-physical nature may be imposed in cases of regular failure to comply with the school's code of behavior the child's parents will be informed of the situation. They may subsequently be invited to attend a meeting with the Principal in order to determine how the parents may best support the school's efforts to maintain the good standard of discipline for which the school is renowned.
When a child starts school, parents are asked to complete a form which allows them to give details of allergies or relevant medical conditions of which the school ought to be aware, together with a request for the telephone number of someone who may be contacted in the event of an emergency should be parents be unavailable. It is essential that this form is fully complete if the welfare of each pupil is to be effectively provided for. All forms are regarded as confidential and information is kept on a computer database. You must make every effort to keep this upto date. In cases where professional medical treatment is considered necessary after an incident at school, and it is not possible to contact parents. then the child may be taken directly to either the local health centre or the hospital by a member of staff. The child's parents will, of course, be informed of the situation as soon as possible.
DPSES has a doctor, who visit periodically. The doctor can see few children, chosen by the teacher. On each visit and advises teachers and parents of any help the children may need.

MEDICAL MATTERS

IHLEDSCHOOLPUBLIC
If a child is taking regular medication (eg. asthma inhalers), the class teacher must be
informed and the medicine must be kept by member of staff in a safe place away from the
reach of other pupils, i.e. it must not be left in cloakroom areas, desks or trays. When,
after illness, a child returns to school requiring daily dosages to complete a course of
prescribed medication, arrangements must be made to administer these. Teachers and
support staff are not allowed, by law, to administer medicine.
Please help by labelling all the stuff with your child's name. The lost property box is in the
resources room. If something is lost, please check the lost property box first. It can be
reported to the teacher and, if necessary, the Head.
