STUDENT BRANCH

A Student Branch is the basic operating organizational unit of IEEE constituted by a minimum of 12 IEEE student members at a particular college, University or technical institute to represent and fulfill the needs of the members and the mission of IEEE. Each branch shall conduct its activities within the constitution, IEEE Bylaws and other rules externally imposed, which by law affect the membership and activities of IEEE.

FORMATION OF STUDENT BRANCH

Based on the recommendations of the Regional Student Activity Chair, a student branch formation may be approved by the appropriate Region Director and reported to MGA board.

Following procedure has to be adopted for opening a Student Branch

Petition signed by at least 12 student IEEE members and 3 IEEE members above the student grade who are faculty members teaching in IEEE designated fields shall be submitted to Regional Director. For student chapter at least 12 members are required and for affinity group at least 6 student members are required.

Information about the educational programs offered in the institute in IEEE designated fields.

The section Exe Com shall be informed of the establishment of student branch.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM THE SECTION

Section has sanctioned a grant of Rs.5000/- for each existing branch. In addition to this Rs.5000/- more are sanctioned for newly formed branches. To avail these grants, SBs are required to send their requests along with following information:

Budget for the year copy of the last Annual report sent cheque “payable to” Mailing address where the cheque is to be sent

Rs.10,000/- is sanctioned for each quarterly meet Partial/full funding of the expenses of the students attending the student congress Partial/full funding of the expenses of the Branch counselors attending the Branch counselor congress Financial support to SBs organising their IEEE fest (not with the tech fest of their institute)

Dignitries from HQ and Delhi section attended the meet.
