What are delegations?




ELSA Delegations

• ELSA Delegations represent ELSA in the meetings and sessions of international organisations

• ELSA Delegations consist of members of ELSA or an alumni organisation who have applied for the delegation and have been appointed by the International Board

• ELSA Delegations are regulated in the Decision Book under Institutional Relations and in the Guidelines for the selection of ELSA Delegations

ELSA’s special status:

• UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation)

• UN ECOSOC (UN Economic and Social Council)

•UNODC (UN Office on Drugs and Crime)

• UNCITRAL (UN Commission on International Trade Law)

• Council of Europe

• WIPO World Intellectual Property Organisation

• Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC)




Who can be appointed for an ELSA Delegation to a meeting of an international organisation:

• ELSA Member

• ELS (ELSA Lawyers Society) member

It is up to the discretion of ELSA International to appoint the members of the Delegation, using the principles of objectivity, neutrality and equality




Procedure

CALL• EI opens the call app. 2 months before

delegation takes place• E mail, WEB, Facebook• Group calls

PROMOTION• Takes approx. 2 weeks -1 month

APPOINTMENT • Directors for Delegations send recommendations• IB considers them and appoints 5 delegates and

HOD• ACs inform delegates and all applicants and

national VP S&C or President
