projects under development at NAIA. Insteadof working directly on legislation, NAIA fo-cuses its resources on researching the issuesthat drive legislation; separating facts fromopinions and beliefs, and promoting evidence-based analysis to support or counter those per-ceptions.

The Heartland Dog Club of Florida waselected as a new Member Club.

The Chair called on Ronald Menaker, whogave his Chairman's report as follows: Good morning. It’s a pleasure to see you allhere in Newark for our June meeting. Wecome together every quarter to share informa-tion about the status of our sport and thefinancial health of our organization; to intro-duce new ideas that may shape our future;sometimes to elect our directors; and certainlyfor camaraderie and the pleasure of catchingup with fellow dog people. The face-to-faceinteractions that underscore these meetingsare unquestionably meaningful and valuable. But think about all of the things we do online. We register litters and dogs online. Weresearch pedigrees and plan breedings online. We enter dog shows online. We study ourbreed standards and improve our judgingskills with the help of the Web. We share andpost on a litany of Facebook pages and enjoyvideos on our phones. And we’re not alone. The fact is, the world and its dog lovers areonline, spreading the joy and even the chal-lenges that come with being a dog owner. In our position as the leading authority ondogs in America and the preeminent pub-lisher of content about dogs, AKC is not onlypoised to become – but has a duty to assumethe role of the voice for dogs everywhere,

especially on the Internet. The shift in the public’s embrace of technol-ogy makes it clear that digital growth is thelifeblood of many an organization, whethercommercial or non-profit. It is for this reasonthat the American Kennel Club created anorganization to focus on growing our revenueoutside of the sport with particular emphasison digital expansion. Our goal is to supportour mission as never before and invest in ourcore constituency. I would like to take some time today to intro-duce you to the types of activities our digitalteam has implemented digitally and the resultswe have seen so far. The digital perspective isrelatively new for us, since our corporate yard-stick for many years has been Registrationnumbers and entries in events. Today morethan four million people visit our web siteevery month. The number of visitors is grow-ing considerably with no sign of abating; traf-fic to our web site as a whole has increasedmore than sixty-five percent this year as com-pared to last year. This wasn’t luck. We have driven this growthby understanding the habits, needs and aspira-tions of dog lovers and creating the contentthat fulfills these needs with the expertise andauthority that only AKC can provide. The chance to forge relationships with mil-lions of customers through a continual onlinedialogue and a multitude of digital touch-points is perhaps our greatest opportunity forgrowth and, just as importantly, to position the

American Kennel Club as the voice of dogs.We have increasingly found social media to befertile ground for our mission and our mes-sage. On May 1st, we celebrated National PurebredDog Day, with multiple postings on Facebookand Instagram. This campaign highlighted thebenefits and importance of purebred dogsthrough compelling images, videos andthemes. We reached over a million people, col-lected thousands of reactions and commentsand saw our videos shared thousands of times.A video about keeping dogs healthy had evengreater success, proving that our educationalcontent attracts a powerful audience of dogenthusiasts seeking guidance from the expertsat AKC. It is through digital efforts like these that wecan capture mindshare and focus public atten-tion on the purpose-bred dog. And theseefforts are paying off. Our digital channels aregrowing; we can now count nearly 5 millionfollowers across all of AKC’s social channels, afan base that also drives one million people toour web site on a monthly basis. Another arrow in our quiver is AKC’s richportfolio of e-newsletters. With a total of ninedigital newsletters and a combined readershipof 2.25 million, this communication channel isanother key source of growth for AKC, withreader interactions that greatly exceed indus-try averages. Articles in our newsletters are animportant tool to drive people to our web site, with some pieces driving eighty to ninety thou-

DELEGATES’ QUARTERLY MEETING

sand visits at a time to AKC.org. Visits to our web site from our email channelincreased thirty five percent earlier this year, thanks to the creative content of our flagshipe-newsletter, Your AKC. Our highest perform-ing digital article to date introduced dog own-ers to the dangers of Zylitol. These results areanother indication that the public is consis-tently seeking out and relying upon AKC as asource for informative content about responsi-ble pet ownership. While our reliable sourcebooks will alwaysoccupy a prominent space on the bookshelf(or e-reader) of the serious dog lover, theshortened attention span in today’s digital agedemands that we continuously innovate inorder to educate. As an institution that seeksrelentlessly to educate the public about theimportance of purebred dogs, responsiblebreeding, and our sport, we have enhancedour toolkit with lighthearted, interactivequizzes. Quizzes about breeds and Groupshave been among our highest performing, reaching hundreds of thousands of peopleacross multiple channels and achieving excel-lent engagement rates. One such quiz asked people to identify withone of the seven Groups; three quarters of amillion people became engaged in our digitalconversation about connecting ourselves topurebred dogs. Our outreach through digitalchannels has allowed us to make great leapsforward in reaching new audiences, engagingwith the uninitiated, and educating the public

about our mission in creative, new ways. However, we cannot merely “count the visits”;we must analyze the ways in which this quick-ening pulse is driving our business to newheights. Digital enhancements to AKCMarketplace have spurred a forty-five percentincrease in revenue over the prior year, with asteady increase of AKC-registrable litters beinglisted. Marketplace is being continuously mon-itored and upgraded to provide a full set offeatures for responsible breeders to place theirpuppies. A recent survey of potential puppybuyers showed extremely high levels of satis-faction with Marketplace in terms of its ease ofuse and the quality of its search results, andmany indicated that they would useMarketplace to purchase a puppy in thefuture. This is an important result for AKC,because as we all know, for better or worse, thepublic is increasingly turning to the Internetas a source for pets. AKC must continue to be a guiding force onthe path to pet ownership, so it is critical thatwe place AKC at the forefront of the newonline journey. By offering our customers thevery best tool for litter listings and puppysearches, AKC reinforces our value proposi-tion to our breeders and keeps AKC at thecenter of the conversation about what respon-sible dog ownership means and how to achieveit. I am delighted that our Registration numbersare once again trending upward, driven byoperational improvements, exceptional cus-

tomer service, and innovative new breederservices. There is no doubt that the success ofAKC.org has been be a major contributor inincreasing demand for purebred dogs andespecially AKC puppies. As we continue down this path to growth, wehave a responsibility to nurture and improveour current practices so that we can foster yetmore success. We must also continue to innovate, throughnew products and services, which we are com-mitted to doing. The sphere of pet ownershipis growing ever broader and more sophisti-cated; these targeted strategies will place theAKC brand and mission within our customers’grasp long after their dogs’ Registrationpapers have been filed away. This will result ina lifetime relationship with pet owners andbuild respect for the American Kennel Club, and most importantly, purebred dogs. With afirm commitment to our traditions and oureyes trained on the future, our roadmap forgrowth promises a formidable future for ourorganization and the dogs we love. (Applause)

Mr. Sprung gave the President’s report as fol-lows: Recently I pieced together a team to addressconcerns brought forward about DQ’d dogs. While this is an uncommon occurrence, I nev-ertheless listened to what you had to say. As aresult, procedures were swiftly enhancedwhich I will share with you.

We implemented a two-week advance notice toevent chairs by telephone and e-mail. Ofcourse a club may agree or not. A list of all of those dogs that were DQ'd overthe last five years will be sent to superintend-ents and show secretaries. It will be updatedon a regular basis. A new accident insurance policy to coverjudges at AKC-approved events was taken out. This policy is in addition to the existing AKCliability insurance policy for judges. Criteria was established for proof of insuranceon the part of the owner of the reinstated dog. Also, whenever a dog is DQ'd, it must immedi-ately leave the venue and the same is true fol-lowing a reinstatement procedure. Lastly, we are recommending to the board thatin these situations the owner or handler is tobe asked to use a DNA swab. If the dog is notDNA'd, it will be ineligible for reinstatement. In addition, at the time of reinstatement, thedog will again be DNA'd. There will be a $500processing fee to cover the costs.

In summary, we have enhanced the reinstate-ment process and addressed Delegate con-cerns plus there is the significant benefit toevery judge in terms of insurance coveragenever before provided and at no cost to any-one in our judging community.Next, I would like to provide you with an up-to-the-minute report on AKC's public relationsand communications efforts and our achieve-ments in this field. However, I believe it will be

DELEGATES’ QUARTERLY MEETING

more productive for us to share this time withthe person responsible for our public relationsand communications success. With that I amdelighted to introduce to you our VicePresident of Public Relations andCommunications, Brandi Hunter, to provideyou with facts and figures. (Applause)

Ms. Hunter spoke as follows:Good morning, everybody. I wanted to take afew minutes to let you know some of thethings that my team does and some of thethings that we are currently working on, onbehalf of the AKC to let you know what ouraccomplishments were over the last year, where we are so far and where we are heading.A little bit about what we do. The AKC teamexecutes media pitching to key audiences withstories and how they speak to the positiveattributes of purebred dogs, breeders, ownersand the organization as a whole. We continu-ously search out opportunities to bring ourvalue and expertise to new audiences while wenurture our core constituency. We also handlecrisis and strategic communications. We areminimal on crisis management thankfully, butwe do handle it when necessary. A little bitmore of what we do is we handle corporatepositioning, brand enhancement, media rela-tions, reputation and issues management, pluscrisis management and communications, clubcommunications and public education. Onthe next slide you'll see a video of some of our

most recent national press coverage. (Video played)

Ms. Hunter: These are some of the clips thatwe did, some of the national coverage andlocal coverage we have been garnering overthe past year. While we service plenty of infor-mation, as there are plenty of press releasesover the year, there are three key releases thatwe focus on, the National Championships, which received over 76 million impressionswith a value of $2.5 million. The AKC Meet theBreeds which starts at 27 million impressionsand a value of $63,000,000 media value andour most popular which we do 16 pressreleases, one national, and one for each of thetop 15 cities and we do 3 billion impressionsand over $394 million in media value. Theseare measured by Cision and PR Newswire, sothey keep us completely honest and they meas-ure every impression that we get across theboard, positive, negative or neutral.Controlling the messaging: We do our best tocontrol the messaging, however, we are notperfect and neither is the media so sometimeswe get negative stories which are normallyunfactual or incorrect information that isopinion based and is written about the AKC.We take the time to assess those negativeimpressions, see if it's worth responding to,the best possible response for it and make surethe AKC mission is not distorted. We've donethis with the Washington Post, the New JerseyRecord and the Times Ledger to very good

JULY 2016AKC GAZETTE 13

DELEGATES’ QUARTERLY MEETING

responses. Last year our media coverage wasabsolutely excellent as you can see. We didover 23,000, almost 24,000 clips. We are up 35percent from 2014 and our publicity value isover 152 million which is up 77 percent from2014. This year we were actually ahead of thegame. Our total audience for 2015, includingprint, online, television, syndicated and mattestories is over 24 billion as a combined audi-ence. Our targets for this year were very spe-cific. We wanted to enhance breeder percep-tion, broaden our messaging, focus onworking dog recognition, focus on public edu-cation efforts, becoming resource for “allthings dog” and building better lifestylebridges for us to get our message out. So far inQ1 we have had over 10 thousand clips whichis 2,000 over where we were this time last yearand our audience has been over 7 billion. Sofar we have been featured on these nationalmediums (shown on slide) and I'm happy toreport there are hundreds more. The "I Am ABreeder" series was a video series that was cre-ated to combat some of the negative messag-ing that our breeders are facing, animal rightsmessaging and stereotypes that the generalpublic seems to be latching onto. We did a testrun with four videos and since we releasedthem on May 11, 2016, we have over 40,000views and the comments have been phenome-nal and very, very supportive. PSAs: This hasbeen a big question I have gotten a lot of fromDelegates, club members and internally. Weare currently working on three PSA's with the

wonderful team that shot our NationalChampionship documentary. One is about theAKC overall, what our mission is, what we doand why we are valuable to the community, theimportance of picking the right breed for yourlifestyle and of course the value and impor-tance of breeders and why you should choosea breeder. They will be created in digital andtelevision formats. We are planning to airthem on cable TV to go in the same directionas the animal rights campaigns. We are look-ing to launch them this fall and all of themwill be available for club use on the websitesand social and spread them as far as we canpossibly spread them. Club Communications isanother important part of our team. We areabsolutely here for anything clubs need. Wehandle the newsletters. We handle clubrequests. We handle emails by request if youhave a show and you want to show your dog ina specific area we are more than happy to dothat if you email us. We handle press releasesfor new fancy related programs, ResponsibleDog Ownership Day, National Championshiptemplates, video interviews, pet disaster reliefemails and general overall club outreach whenyou have a show. By the way, feel free to emailus any time if you need assistance or having ahard time. We are absolutely here. Public edu-cation: We have had a very large focus on pub-lic education ensuring that our materials areupdate to date, that they are translated alsointo Spanish. We focused on the girl scouts. We had a Meet The Breeds activity in this

February. We have another patch activity thatwe are hoping to launch by the national cham-pionship. We partnered with American CancerSociety and Bark For Life. We have been con-necting club volunteers for events. We havehad public education tables at plenty of theirevents and we have seen a great response. Alot of people didn't know what we do and theyhave been really excited to get involved. Wealso did a book donation starting in Februaryof this year. What we did was, we reached outto a lot of schools, libraries, to see if theywould be interested in our Complete DogBook and the materials that we had and got anoverwhelming response, so we donated over athousand books since February 2016. We'vealso revamped the Canine AmbassadorsProgram. We have over 400 active CanineAmbassadors at this time. They are going toschools. They are going to events. They aretalking about the message of AKC. We are inthe process of creating an online directory forevents so that everybody knows who they areand how to reach them. We also are workingon an email campaign at this time with ourcanine ambassadors. We developed the Kidscorner. Our goal is to get our dog owners attheir youngest age, get potential dog owners, their kids were excited about pets who want tolearn more. We created a whole microsite withflash cards, articles, videos, quizzes, activities, games, videos and coloring pages. There areplenty of juniors who write for the site and cre-ate videos so kids can see somebody like them

excited about the sport and excited aboutresponsible dog ownership. We've also formedthe AKC sports page. This is different from theAKC regular Facebook page. This is a pagethat highlights our AKC sports and shows howmuch fun our dogs are having, how much funit is to get involved, how many sports are actu-ally included in the AKC passage the confirma-tion show. So we have agility, rally, tracking, coursing, dock diving, herding, fast cat, fieldtrials, obedience and any other sport thatmight be developed will be highlighted onAKC sports. Feel free to like our AKC sportsFacebook page. So what's next? We are plan-ning to the expand the “I Am A Breeder”series, another state of 4-6 different breedersby the end of year. We are working on a theri-ogenology video mini documentary, AKC Vetcorner with Dr. Klein, PSA's shooting three forcable TV digital access slated to run in fall. Wewant the public to see who we are and how wehelp dog owners and future generation of K-9breeds. We are establishing a vet corner withDr. Klein which will be another helpfulresource for people. It will get their questionsanswered, get good information, get solidinformation from the AKC about their dogs.We are starting a national op-ed campaignworking, which is going to put some of ourpositioning in national media with theTribune for that, so it should have very widedistribution, over about 5,000 channels. Wehave the Paw of Courage Program expansion. The Paw of Courage Program as well as

Canine Officer program established by Doug, recognizes services dogs. It is very importantto us to recognize dogs that have been injuredin the line of duty and also lost their lives inthe line of duty as they keep us safe everyday. So that is what the Paw of Coverage is. Feelfree to email us with any nominations of anydogs in your community that are eligible.Thank you. And our Kid’s corner expansionwe just want to expand it as a fun place forfuture dog owners to learn about the AKC, tolearn about pure bred dogs and to get excitedabout responsible dog ownership and possiblyworry their parents half to death about whenthey can get a dog. We are also creating moresocial graphics. You may have seen some ofthem floating around Facebook at a certainpoint that demonstrate AKC's good works. These go over really well so we will be creatingthose for you to share among your club mem-bers and we are creating the online PR tool kitthat will be accessible to all Delegates in allclubs that will help logos, templates andmaybe that will make your show promotion alittle bit easier and if you have any questions, you can always email us. Lastly, we value youropinion. Please feel free to email us. I havehad IT create an email that will go directly tome that will not get caught up in the commu-nications emails or my daily flood of emails. This is a specific place for you to email anyquestions, concerns. You can send events, pho-tos, announcements as you like promoted, rec-ommend a breeder for AKC content, recom-

mend your dog for AKC content, anything youwould like to. Feel free to email me at anytime. Thank you. (Applause)

The Chair called on Joe Baffuto, AKC ChiefFinancial Officer, who gave the financialreport as follows: Good morning Everyone! Thank you verymuch for joining us here today back in theNew York Metro area! I am delighted to pres-ent and bring to your attention this first finan-cial performance report of the AmericanKennel Club for the 2016 fiscal year. Ourreport includes activities through the end ofMay. Our total revenues of $27 million dollarsfor the first 5 months of this year were $2 mil-lion or an overall increase of 8% above 2015.We have had a tremendous year so far! Let’sfollow through and Drill-Down to assess thisincrease in revenue. Comparing our year todate core registration volumes – we have regis-tered 92,000 Litters which reflects a +7%increase and 228,000 Dogs which reflects an11% increase. (Applause)

These total volumes have both significantlyincreased from the prior year and have aloneaccounted for $700,000 in additional revenue! Each month of this year we have steadilyimproved. Our distinct programs and superiorcustomer-service focus with breeders havehelped us remarkably in these core categories.

JULY 2016AKC GAZETTE 16

DELEGATES’ QUARTERLY MEETING

We have not recognized consistent growth inboth of these registration areas in nearly twodecades! Now That’s What I Call The 90s! It isour belief that we have only just begun “toclimb the mountain” and we expect to con-tinue this outstanding performance through-out 2016! Continuing our Drill-Down in rev-enue, other top areas of success year to dateinclude Pedigree sales, which have increasedby $190,000 or 10%. Royalty income, whichhas increased by $278,000 or 31%, mostly dueto our successful renegotiating agreementswith our licensees during 2015, ourEcommerce activities including personalizedbreed products, woofbox and video sales onour site, which skyrocketed by $196,000 or96%, and Marketplace revenue which hasgrown by $117,000 or 57% since 2015. After anin depth examination of our successes inRevenue to-date, now let’s transition over tothe Expense side of our equation! Our totaloperating expenses of $23.7 million for thefirst 5 months of the year were $2.2 million ora 10% increase above last year. Let’s analyzeand Drill-Down where these increases havetranspired. Material line items that have recog-nized increases so far this year consist ofPayroll and benefits by the amount of$762,000 or 7% above last year. We have a totalcurrent full time equivalent headcount of 287,which reflects a 2% increase above this sametime last year. Marketing and New Revenuedevelopment costs of an additional $604,000.Advertising and Communications costs of

$203,000. Additional travel costs in theamount of $124,000, increased postage costsin the amount of $84,000, and a contributionto AKC CHF of $85,000 which is a timing dif-ference versus 2015, as our total contributionsto CHF in the 2015 year exceeded $500,000.So what does this all mean? Our year-to-datesummary reflects an operating income of $3.5million which is not significantly differentfrom $3.7 million at this time last year. As wecan see from our slide here, examining backeach of the past 3 years, the orange bar repre-sents the portion of operating income duringeach year derived from the first 5 months ofactivity as compared to the total operatingincome for the fiscal year. This would lead usto surmise that as immense as our operatingresults have been for the 1st 5 months, thereare even grander results ahead in 2016 for TheAmerican Kennel Club! In addition to ourresults from operations, I will briefly presentthe highlights of our investment performancethrough May 31, 2016. All major marketindices have experienced inconsistencies dur-ing the first 5 months of the year, so the AKCportfolio does not stand alone in that regard. Our portfolio has earned a 1.2% investmentreturn over the first five months of the year, orunrealized gains of $1.1 million. This is a mildoutperformance of 20 basis points of the com-posite benchmark comparison for our portfo-lio of 1.0%. The Balance Sheet of the AKC atMay 31, 2016 reflects $135.9 million in TotalAssets with $68.6 million in Net Assets. The

financial strength of our organization lies inthese numbers, and has not only allowed usthe ability to rebuild our core revenues, but ithas also allowed us to examine new businessopportunities to ensure future successes aswell. Thank you very much for the opportu-nity to discuss our positive report this morn-ing. After the meeting concludes, I will gladlybe available to discuss any information in ourreport. Have yourself an event filled fun sum-mer and we will be back in September to dis-cuss AKC’s financial performance throughAugust! Safe travels home, (Applause)

Mr. Sprung: Thank you, Joe. As evidenced bythe report, we have some broad-basedincreases across the corporation and in partic-ular your applause during Joe's presentationfor registration. We have each been in thistogether. The slide in registrations began in1992 and turned around in 2015. As you cansee, the proof is in the numbers, with theincrease continuing through 2016. So congrat-ulations to our entire staff on their diligentwork. They don't stop. (Applause)

Mark Dunn is standing in the back. As you cansee he is holding up the wall and that is whathe does a lot. We appreciate every gain in reg-istration, in pedigrees and particularly ourservice to dog breeders. Thank you. (Applause)

The Executive Secretary read the proposedamendment to Chapter 3, Sections 4, 5, 7, 17and 19, of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows -Dog Show Classifications as follows: This amendment to Chapters 3, Sections 4, 5,7, 17 and 19 of the Rules Applying to DogShows - Dog Show Classifications, would, inSection 4, change the italicized paragraph tobecome a part of the rule rather than a Boardclarification, without changing the wording. InSection 5, it would add the statement regard-ing the first day of a multiple-day show beingused to calculate age. In Section 7, it wouldchange the italicized definition of professionalhandlers to make it part of the rule, not aBoard clarification, without changing thewording. Additionally, in Sections 17 and 19, itwould change the italicized definition of theprofessional handlers to make it part of therule, not a Board clarification with the onlychange being the removal of the effectivedate. along with the $250,000 funded by AKCReunite with total funds raised of $1,228,238.Forty-seven trailers have been delivered tothose 23 states. Nine more trailers are beingdelivered shortly and there are 16 clubs andareas that are working on additional trailers.

Barbara Mann, Delegate for the Dayton DogTraining Club, thanked Sheila Geoff and PattiStrand for their presentation at the JuneForum. She indicated that those in the grassroots level can do more to change the publicmisperceptions about purebred dogs andbreeders and the AKC in general, with helpfrom the AKC and the NAIA. She suggested an AKC T-shirt. Something thatpreferably says I am the proud owner of purebred AKC registered dog or something to thateffect and to go with it and a prepared speechwould be needed. She felt the speech shouldcome from NAIA, because it can provide thethings that we need to be able to say whenpeople ask why did you buy a pure bred dogwhen there are all these dogs wasting away inshelters.

Sylvia Arrowwood, Delegate for the CharlestonKennel Club, asked about the status of grouprealignment. Mr. Sprung advised her that it has been on thetable for a while.

Dr. Carmen Battaglia, AKC Board memberand Delegate for the German Shepherd Dog

Club of America, spoke about an article in thecurrent issue of Perspectives, based on researchthat was done on 1,300 juniors in our juniorscholarship program. He asked the Board andthe Delegates to review the article and con-sider the recommendations.

Marilyn Currey, Delegate for the AmericanChinese Crested Club, spoke about the 9/11memorial and thought we may have missedthe chance for an exhibit recognizing the serv-ice dogs and the search and rescue dogs thatparticipated in the tragedy there and theefforts afterwards.

Mr. Sprung responded as follows: There werediscussions, but at the end of the day, we did-n't make the cut.

Sue Goldberg, Delegate for the Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club, spoke about DQ rein-statement. She was delighted to hear that theBoard is addressing it. She then raised a num-ber of questions which were addressed by theChair. They concerned when a disqualifieddog would have a DNA sample taken; thespecifics on judge insurance and where thereinstatement is to take place. She did notbelieve it should take place at an AKC show.Jeffrey Drogin, Delegate for the EasternGerman Shorthaired Pointer Club, spokeabout the County of Bergen, New Jersey, giv-ing a Certificate of Commendation honoringthe Eastern German Shorthaired Pointer Club

in recognition and appreciation of its gener-ous donations to Bergan County of an AKCPet Disaster Relief Mobile Unit. It is datedApril 17, 2016, signed by J. Tedesco III, who isthe county executive.

The Chair recognized Jack McCullagh,Delegate for the Blennerhassett Kennel Club, who spoke in favor of reinstating a hard copyAKC Gazette.

Julian Prager, Delegate for the Central FloridaKennel Club, asked about when the reinstate-ment would take place.Mr. Sprung advised it would be before judg-ing.

Virginia Denninger, Delegate for the GeneseeValley Kennel Club, thanked the AKC forsending Jennifer Clark [AKC Manager, CanineLegislation] to their legislative symposium.

The Chair recognized Don James, Delegate forthe Leonberger Club of America, who spokeabout Perspectives and AKC Marketplace as fol-

lows: Two things. First, Sherry Wallis normallystands up at this time and plugs the next issueof Perspectives, which will be the Septemberissue. I'm going to take care of that today andask if anybody has an article and I know all ofyou have something you want to say, to pleasesend those articles to Sylvia Arrowwood, who isgoing to be the coordinator for the fall. Secondly, in light of what Ron said about theimportance of the AKC Marketplace now tak-ing its digital footprint, I think it's importantto make sure that the breeders that are listedon AKC Marketplace are, in fact, as it says, responsible. The Parent Clubs Committee yes-terday was treated to a presentation by LizSorota [AKC Vice President, Marketing] whois now in charge of the Marketplace and oneof the things that she said they were consider-ing was requiring everybody who was going tobe listed on Marketplace to do a 13 questionsurvey that would either have to be answeredby filling in or by multiple choice before theywould be allowed to be listed on Marketplace. They are considering that. I would suggest itbe mandatory because one way that we canensure that the breeders listed on Marketplaceare, in fact, responsible is to get those 13 ques-tions answered. Thank you.

Peggy Wampold, Delegate for South WindsorKennel Club, stated that her club would nothave reinstatement for any reason at its showbecause of the fact that they had a lot of chil-

dren and their parents who come just for thepleasure of seeing the show and they are notdog people.

Kenneth Mader, Delegate for the AmericanSealyham Terrier Club, asked for an update on the brick and mortar store that AKC is con-structing in New York?

Mr. Sprung stated that it is in its infancy. Thelandlord turned the space over to AKC onJune 1st. It is being designed at this point anddown the road there will be ongoing updatesBut it is in the design stage now, so there hasbeen no development as of yet.

As there was no further business the meetingconcluded at 11: 23 a.m.
