GET TO KNOW RUSSIA

Marshrutka (minibus): You can hail & get off the mini bus anywhere along its route. Prices are generally between 20-30 RUB.

Tram & Trolleybus:The extensive tram & trolley bus systems act as feeders to the Metro. Price for a single ride is 30RUB.

Metro: The famous Moscow Metro has 182 stations & is the world’s second most heavily used rapid transit system, carrying over 6 million passengers per day. The metro operates from 05:30 to 01:00 & costs 28 RUB per trip.

Taxi: This is the most expensive option & taxis are notorious for charging more for non-Russian speakers. To get

a better rate, order a taxi rather than hailing one off the street.

The local currency is Russian Rouble & is the only currency accepted in Russia. You can change your money in practically any bank, but be prepared to show your passport in order to make the change.

Coins: 1, 5, 10, 50 kopeika & 1, 2, 5, 10 rouble.Banknotes: 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000.

Current exchange rates (subject to change daily):1 USD ($) = 30,5 roubles1 EUR (€) = 39,7 roubles

Electricity:The electrical current in Russia is 220 volts AC, 50Hz. Most sockets are standard European size with double round–pin plugs.

Telephone:The international area code for Russia is +7. When calling within Russia, “8” can be substituted for “+7”

Health & Safety:Moscow is no more dangerous than any average European city. Russian drivers are your biggest danger, so cross the road carefully and don’t assume cars will stop just because you’re on a zebra crossing.

The city’s water is treated with chlorine to clean it from bacteria, parasites and heavy metals, so you can use it to brush your teeth or wash fruit. For drinking or to make tea, it is better to stick bottled water, or clean the tap water with a filter and give it a good boil first.

DAY 2: WORKSHOPSLeadership for a Complex WorldCenter for Creative LeadershipSpeaker: Irina KostinaDirector of Business Development in Russia and CIS

As the world becomes more complex and uncertain, the nature of leadership is changing. Today’s leaders need to grow beyond the traditional leadership competencies to develop a set of new competencies for success in the future. CCL research has studied what has stayed the same and what is changing about leadership. This interactive presentation leverages the experience and knowledge of participants to build a profile of the effective leader of the fu-ture. Using a CCL tool called “Metaphor Explorer”, the group will examine their mental models of leadership and gain a deeper understanding of what effective leadership looks like. Of all the leadership competencies needed to be effective, are there some that are most critical for the future? You can help answer that question in this discussion.

But if your company is not a state, but it has major scope of activity, without the development of GR-di-rection is almost impossible to manage. The master-class from the company SAN InBev paid much attention to various branches of industry and business, as well as the prospects for their development and interaction with GR-direction.

How to Establish Manufacturing in RussiaLindab BuildingsSpeaker: Anton CalinChief Sales Manager, Key customers in Russia & CIS

Russia today represents a market potential that is almost unrivaled globally in terms of volume & profit margins, yet it has only scarcely been tapped by western businesses. Despite Russia’s enormous wealth in natural resources & well educated labor, it lacks the organizational capabilities & advanced technologies to be competitive. Many companies recognize the importance of being a local player & are now planning to set up a local presence, or expand their existing business in Russia. However, they face numerous challenges such asmanaging so-called “Russian risks” (corruption, misuse of authority & poor infrastructure) and identifying the scope of financial, organizational & human efforts necessary to do business in Russia.

The Future of Business InnovationsRENOVASpeaker: Denis KrivonogovDeputy Chief Financial Officer

In a rather volatile economic situation what will most quickly & easily help to adapt to new situations? Innova-tions. These are not empty words or a fad. As a result of an independent research conducted by Bloomberg/Busi-nessWeek/Boston Consulting Group among top managers found that most executives chose innovation as a key strategy to benefit in a changing economy. In fairness, we note that the survey was conducted in the United States. About 39% of executives surveyed from Russia admitted that innovation is one of three main strategic priorities. At the same time 61% of respondents from Russia and the CIS announced that next year will increase the amount spent on innovation. Together with Denis Krivonogov you will be able to discuss the main innovative trends in the world, for what is the future of innovation, and more.

The Future of the Financial Services MarketAlfa-BankSpeaker: Aleksey MareyChief Executive Officer

Finance - a circulatory system that nourishes all the branches of the economy depends on the state of prosperity of the country as a whole. Financial services market in Russia is very dynamic,

it is constantly transformed and restructured in an effort to respond to developing needs of participants in the economy. Trends at the same time are made by the key industry players such as Alfa-Bank, the largest private bank in the country. What is the future market for financial services in expert’s opinion of one of the first flagship bank in Russia, you can learn at the master class.

Integrated Network & GovernanceBernd Thomas

Our lack of global alumni coordination & integrated services have led to a shortfall in member value and member scale. Alumni Reform aims for global orien-tation, single brand recognition, strengthening NAAs and LAAs by integration, & better governance.

Integrated Membership Development & GrowthDavid Epstein, Sudeep Malhotra

Alumni from ‘one world’ & ‘one AIESEC’ need a new integrated membership package, made more power-ful through branding & added global value. Privileges would be portable globally, but transition must rec-ognize existing memberships & fee payments.

Datebase & Networking WebsiteJochen Wiegand; Hiro Kinashi

Alumni Reform must include modernizing our da-tabase & website. A new global alumni website is to provide alumni information, membership adminis-tration with payment function, program & project ac-cess & individual member search services.

Programs & ServicesAndrew Rowe

The alumni & NAA surveys in 2011 showed that alum-ni interest is concentrated in the three areas: Alum-ni-to-Alumni, Alumni-to-AIESEC & Alumni-to-World which include 29 programs and services, one-third of which are dependent on a new web portal.

Alumni – AIESEC ProgramsMichaela Schedlingova, Hiro Kinashi, Sudeep Mal-hotra

Alumni Reform lists 15 programs & 10 goals: 4 are training & counseling by alumni, 4 are work contri-butions & participation in conferences, 1 is related to funding & 2 consist of information from AIESEC.

Alumni-to-Alumni ProgramsAndrew Rowe, David Epstein AAI has been working to develop programs that to engage alumni & leverage the power of our network. Global Job Exchange, Global Business Exchange, Global Meet-Ups & Global Home Exchange are pro-grams that are currently being planned.

Grassroots Initiatives & Sharing of Best PracticesKuba Karlinski, Hugo Alfonso Preciado Razo

AIESEC Alumni First Thursdays (AAFT) is a new global initiative in which alumni have gathered cities around the world to network, have fun & create impact. AAFT shows us that country initiatives led by national champions can become global ones.

A-Group InitiativeRollie Gosiengfiao

Rollie has been very successful in introducing alumni groups for self-enhancement. The “A-Groups” focus on developing leadership potential in closed groups of alumni. A-Groups feature a process that fosters personal development & life improvement.

AIESEC Alumni Professional Code Bernd Thomas Since AIESECers are to observe AIESEC values for life, alumni want this obligation to be defined. AAI has already provided alumni a link to AIESEC in its new mission statement, but could this be a personalized & formal commitment of individual alumni?

AAI WORKSHOPS Day One Topics Day Two Topics

CommunicationKuba Karlinski

Communication has become more convenient & cheaper, but alumni communications have suffered. Alumni Reform seeks to unify communication with AIESEC & establish clear sources & branding strategy to achieve better distribution of information.

The AIESEC Foundation & AAI FundingArnould de la Boulaye, Lionel Simons

An AIESEC Foundation is envisaged to help fund alumni efforts since neither AIESEC International nor AAI have charitable status & cannot provide tax ben-efits. A feasibility study is now underway with the backing of both AI & AAI.

AIESEC Experience-Writing InitiativeWilliam Berk

Recording AIESEC history & personal experiences is a continuous task. As communication becomes more virtual, it is time to explore virtual AIESEC ex-periences, its outreach to others, its training effect & writing together about the world we want.
